"Perhaps your brother could comfort them. I hear he's good at charming other men's wives."
The look on Hector's face was like "Yeah....yeah I'll give you that."
😂😂😂
Achilles violated him with that one
There are also uncles in these Family Gameplays.
“Paris I’m going to punch you when I get home”
I think that look was more disgust at what a callous bastard Achilles was being.
I love how he throws back the guilt trip of widows waiting in Troy by reminding Hector who started the war
'You are very brave or very stupid to come after me alone.
You must be Hector.'
Quite a roast from Achilles 🤣🤣 besides the obvious one about Paris the womaniser
It’s either praise or slight until he realizes that he was brave and not arrogant
0:30 Hector never saw a spear thrown like that in his life. Eric Bana portrays shock, fear and bravery to keep going, all in one look, as he stops, realises what just happened and presses forward anyway. Incredibe movie.
He even tried to throw one back lol

Hectors soldiers who he brought with him must have been the cream of the crop when it comes to how elite there were.
Achilles men just wiped them out.
The appelonians were the elite
@@donteprince8846the myrmidons and the Spartans were the most elite
@@donteprince8846 The OC meant elite in Trojan soldiers at this point in time, obviously the Myrmidons and Spartans are the most elite of all time in ancient Greek history but Hector rode with what appeared to be his high guard, generally the high guard were the most elite soldiers who rode or stayed with royalty to protect and serve them personally, the most modern era example I can give is the Czars who were the personal military specifically for the Russian king, the last being Nicholas the 2nd of Russia, I suppose secret service as well could be an example however they aren't the cream of the crop in being elite, for the U.S. that would be JSOC so I didn't use the secret service as an example
Edit: Damn, I just realized I typed a damn essay my bad

@josecruz6674He would have been more of a match for him then as opposed to when they actually fought. In this scene and in the scene where he thought he was fighting Achilles was when Hector was most eager and had that fire in him. By the time they fought He knew He was doomed and he was just fighting out of bravery and for survival. Even in defeat He gave Achilles the biggest challenge he ever faced by Achilles own admission.
Hector is a badass. No one mentions it but he killed a handful of myrmidons here.

Hector was by far the best character in this movie well the one with the most relatable mindset.
There isn't enough oil in all the peloponnese to soothe that most epic of burns from The Mighty Achilles, Prince Hector!!! LOL🤣🤣🤣
While definitely a shot at Paris, both Achilles and Hector knew full and well that Hector neglected his duty to Troy by taking Helen home. Hector shares as much blame as Paris for the downfall of Troy, as least in the movie version.
@@zyggybaranowski6852 brothers will often overlook the faults of their siblings out of their shared sanguine ties regardless of the greater consequences.
@@zyggybaranowski6852 Yeah, it's a layered response which shows the personality of all three of them. Achilles is poking fun at Paris and making fun of the tragedy of the widowed wives and orphaned children, which shows that he still views war as a glorious game of the strong vs the weak... but simultaneously rightly points out that that war and those deaths were still the result of Paris prioritsing his personal desires over his own country, as well as Hector letting his little brother indulge in frivolity instead of giving him a strict 'no' and sending Helen back to Sparta.
For all that Hector is morally the best of the men in that film (film, not 'The Illiad'), he's still not perfect, and messes up several times. Another example would be breaking the pact and saving Paris from a killing blow, but, well, that was still his younger brother. Both of Hector's options were terrible at that point. I don't know if I would be able to sleep at night knowing I let my sibling be killed, regardless of the consequences otherwise.
Well, Hector had no problem to let thousands of his people died just to protect his selfish, entitled brother, lol..
@@glamsky3257 That's the problem. He could have either fulfilled his duty as a futute king of his people by letting his little brother die, or put his people at an even greater risk by breaking an honour-bound deal to save his little brother's life, whether Paris was cowardly or not.
Either decision would have made for guilty conscience.
1:15 The expression Hector makes here leads me to think this is not the first time the world randomly turned upside down at the worst possible time. He doesn’t seem surprised, just annoyed, because he would rather face the best warrior in the world while knowing where his head and his feet are.
hector wouldve made a good king, not the best warrior but surely wiser with a good heart. achilles knew to respect him well.
Indeed
It’s too early in the day to kill princes...
He also had compassion.
Its not bcuz of compassion that he didn't sliced him right then , it's because he wanted others to see it and get glory for himself. Exactly why he came alone later on at troy's gates to avenge Patroclus.
You could say honor. He wanted a real fight and he didn’t want to cut him down like a sheep.

Imagine being hector at the time of 2:02, a man who you can’t see but is talking and calling your name and then all of a sudden this man walks out the shadows with the blood of his enemies covered all over him, which he had just killed and no scratches on him what’s so ever…the realisation on hectors face when he recognised it was the greatest warrior and the greatest killer of all time, just standing in front of him confronting him.
I don't think Hector was ever afraid of Achilles, and especially not at this moment. If anything this would have been his best shot at winning against Achilles since he was fighting for his country and enraged at the death of the priests who didn't do anything wrong.
Your brother can comfort then, I heard he is good at charming others wives 🤣

Not necessarily in the theatrical cut since he rushes after Achilles. In the director's cut he acknowledges that Achilles it the only warrior better than himself, but he's still not scared of him.
Imagine replacing that spear with a football 🏈. Then Achilles would be the Tom Brady of that era.

“Do you know who I am?”
Hector is far from stupid, I’m pretty certain he had an inkling.
Both are the best fighters in their respected country so highly likely that they at least heard about about each other in one way or another
“Only fools and kids fight for honor. I fight for my country”
Yet he didn’t let the archers shoot Achilles because it was dishonorable. He would have saved his country if he did just that.
Because Prince Hector knew what he'd done killing patroclous and accepted his fate. There's a difference between fighting solely for the sake of being honored and conducting oneself in an honorable manner.
It wouldn't have saved his country. Odysseus was the architect of the plan that defeated Troy. Achilles' presence didn't really alter the outcome at all.
@@TheJim9191 I’m sure Hector would have influenced his father to burn the horse.
There is a difference between fighting with honour and fighting for honour.
@@thegreyavenger2 Nah, Hector couldn't convince his stubborn father to not attack the Greeks. Priam only listened that old priest
Really underrated movie... makes me really want to visit Troy (the real one)
A thought of mine that I like is that what if Hector and Troy's Elite soldiers were going to the temple not to fight Achilles, how would they know that Achilles and the Myrmidons are there but because he was getting Briseis. She is his cousin and priestess. We can see her just before the bells rang in the temple.
I like to think that is the reason Hector went in person at the temple and didn't go fight with his men on the beach.
Seriously, the more I think about it, the more it makes sense. We have seen many times that Hector fights with his soldiers no matter what. And during the scene where he talks to his father before everything starts, we can see he is not very pious.
And that would explain why everyone at Troy thought that Briseis was dead because Hector didn't see her or didn't go back with her.
4:38 - every dude has done this scene in the shower while raising a shampoo bottle, at least once
Not me... but I will today LoL 😂
I am gonna do it tommorow 😂
Give a man an inch he will take a yard. Achilles spared Hector's life. Hector kills top 30 Greek heroes. Pride always stands before men...and their downfall.

The swing of the spear amazing
I love this movie
3:14 It should've been Brad Pitt playing John Doe in Seven. Look at his facial expression. "Oh. He didn't know."
Achilles: You must be Prince Hector. Do you know who I am?
Hector: These priests weren't armed.
Man you don't get more noble than Hector.
Yeah allows his brother to bring a married woman a queen at that, that starts a war that destroys his country and family. Killing said king when his brother is about to die in a one on one duel.
@@zacharyradford5552 nah, if you watch the movie you'll see the scene where he explains that although what Paris did was definitely wrong, Agamemnon is just gonna use that as an excuse to attack Troy. In other words even if he allowed Menelaus to win the duel and even if he returned Helen the Greeks we're gonna attack anyway. Agamemnon himself makes that clear before the duel happens.
@@zacharyradford5552 I would kill to protect my brother at all costs, what do you mean?

What a solid movie
Imagine if just 3-4 more of Hector's men threw spears when he did lol would have been a very different movie.
Imagine Hector would ride and leads troops from the front and not behind his right hand man. Achilles aim for the leading guy thinking that was the leader.
@@ryannguyen7466 right??
He would've lived, he's invincible and a half-god
Well, not *entirely* invincible
Considering Achilles earlier just went through an entire brigade of archers with about tens of arrows flying at him, I'd say he's going to be completely fine even if the leading men in that cavalry group threw their spears.
Achilles was dipped in the River Styx. Unless you get him on the ankle you’re wasting your time.

if achilles showing your army a bloodied blade raised to the gods to your marine army isn't enough to provide confidence - then what else is there besides their hunger and thirst?

If not for war they might have come along well .
Achilles was born of Zeus!!
Ares can alone destroy all of legions of his men.
3:54 “scram, b*tch”
Well, his army had international representatives.
- Some of them were from very far places.
They came passing big waters.
Sailing was developed better than you think. It was connected to abilities to create more stable vessels and battleships based on very not standard solutions, like having dual body constructions, where you build specific co-constructions making it more stable for storms, together with dual based construction material using wind.
- It is connected to another layer of textile with holes. So it broke wind flows, smashing jumps of forces in it, saving textile and constructions it was fixed on.
As for the body - it used intermedite not solid second body inside. Making it much more resistable against waves with adding stability of degrees, with better spreading of load.
- So it is connected to "Wanted" stuff. Now you know where it is taken from.
Solutions braught not simply better and smoothed changes, with lesser harm, but better distinguishing and usage of good and bad flows for sailing.
- Solution was developed by object using his knowledge for reaching ice areas at north. After it the ways to Australia were established, as well. He was architect, but with knowledge in textile industry as well. 😂
See? How simple everything is? 😏
- Some australian constructions were formed before european ones. It was connected to specific nature and knowledge as well. So financial specific support was spread not only in scandinavian direction.
Sean Bean plays Odysseus ... a larger than life charachter in the Illiad. His story is bigger than Achilles.
5:11 What’s the theme?
I've often wondered if Achilles fought Hector here Hector might have won. Achilles comes at him at the end with the intent to kill immediately and as one-sided as the fight was, Hector put up a good fight. Here Achilles probably would have toyed with him a bit, and Hector possibly could have gotten the upper hand
Unlikely as Achilles was just waaaay too skilled. Hector even tells his wife that Achilles was in another league when he saw his spear throw. Achilles only really began fighting Hector seriously when Hector grazed his chest plate. Before that, you could see he was still playing with him, going as far as to put his shield right behind his head and fighting with one hand behind his back.
