Hyman feels like Smytty honestly, just nothing but pure love for him
edit: he gets 49 cause his 50th will get called back
HAHAHAHAHA too true
That's pretty funny, hahaha! But I agree with you... He definitely has that Smytty feel... He will be a fan favorite forever!
If you count all the goals that got called back on him, he would probably already be at 50. So your guess is spot on considering his luck
@krisrolph1058 - 100% agree! And Smitty was my all-time favorite!
Good call. They look like they could be related.
has 40 after Tonight lol def one of the best if not best FA signing by oilers
Easily the best free agent signing in Oiler's history. Moving into the conversation of the best free agency signing of the cap era, of any team
People forget Hyman requested to come here and requested a tour of the building. Holland didn’t go looking for Hyman. It was Hyman that came looking for Edmonton. When I player says I want to play here you don’t say no you say how much.
And he’s had more goals called back than anyone in the league. Crazy
I hate to say it but most of his goals that are called back are good calls.
Man did he ever go on a bad run of goals called back too, people forget
The sheer amount of "50-50" calls that never go his way is so disheartening that it's almost become funny.
@shawnwharry952 alright tell me is it goalie interference when the enemy teams player pushed hyman teammate into the goalie?
I did say most.@@metcrix110
Something that goes unnoticed is how hard he works night in and night out. He's always racing for the puck, pushing himself harder than everyone else on the team.
I wouldn't say that's unnoticed, it's his defining characteristic in when people talk about him in Edmonton.
That isnt unnoticed we have noticed that since his 1st year as a leaf.
Vinnie and Ekholm have been putting in work lately
Unnoticed?
Where?
Certainly not in Edmonton
are making plays and shooting pucks. Very noticable!!❤
I don't know a single Toronto Maple Leafs fan that doesn't regret seeing Hyman go in free agency. Dude would've been worth every penny.
unfortunately just couldn't afford to keep him. Dude played himself out of Leaf's cap space
@@deadrizenOr the leafs (poor management of the) cap played itself out of a great (and needed) player
@@iceteazer8028it sucks because we had the cap space to resign hyman, management just made his injury at the time way bigger of an issue but hindsight 20/20 I guess. We also just have retarded management who sign ppl like klingberg when Reilly has needed a solid right shooting partner for his entire career, it’s crazy how much Toronto management misses the mark and there should be a study on it.
His career high was like 40 points. no one could have predicted this great season. Good for him
Yeah I'm happy to see what Hyman has become but I can't really regret letting him walk. If Dubas had signed that deal for a 50pt player he would have been hanged, drawn and quartered in front of Scotiabank arena.
All the dude does is produce and smile. He's fun to watch.
People say “anyone would look good playing next to Mcdavid” but Jesse proved that wrong.
Hyman is different. His tenacity around the net is unmatched. Sure, some goals are a gift but he earns most of them.
I mean obviously not every single person would look good next to McDavid but for every Jesse who did nothing there is a Pat Maroon who scored 30 in a season…
That being said, Hyman is an amazing player. Such an awesome combo of work ethic, skill, and great positioning.
Sad the Leafs let him go, genuinely I am. This guy is incredible and I was so sad he wasn't going to be a Leaf anymore. So glad he's having so much success in Edmonton however!
He shows up every game.
It really doesn't matter who he plays with he'd still produce.
They had to let him go because covid and cap space
i honestly believe its harder for every player on toronto, teams love kicking their ass. wouldn't you try harder if your home games were filled with away team jerseys? not to mention theres nothing better then making a leafs fan cry
Lots of people have played with McDavid that couldn't mcfinish
Zach can mcfinish
he scored a solo effort goal about 2 months ago that was ELITE level scoring, it got called back, but i was watching them game and i was like WHO WAS THAT??? hyman dude. hes so sick.
Wasn't that against the Leafs? Called back for offside if I remember right.
He gets 57, a couple more than projected. Dude is such a beast, and I honestly can't think of a better Oilers FA signing than he's been. We're too used to the Lucics, and the Campbells, of free agency.
How's Connor Brown doing these days?
Great on the PK thank you!@djmips
@@dana102083and thats it… what a horrible signing brown was
@@dana102083 4 goals in regular and PK has died. thanks
Hyman is one of my favorite players he was a unit in Toronto. He is now an absolute monster in Edmonton.
And yes his goal numbers will be up because he plays along side McD but he's doing what Puljujarvi, Yakupov, Lucic, Kassian, Eberle and Hall all couldn't do....keep up with the way McD thinks the game and the speed at which he makes things happen ! Only Leon and sometimes Nuge have had success as well as Hyman alongside McD !
@dankelly5150 agree and his reqcrion of surprise bearly wvery time shows it! Sheer disbelief! He has to expect it always!! So glad he choce us!
This was one of our best games without a doubt so far this season! I enjoyed watching a team effort and a defensive game for the first time since the win streak ended. Edmonton Oilers vs Los Angeles Kings is definitely one of the best NHL matchups and is usually competitive.
Any player that meshes well with McDavid must be elite. Look at all the others that didn't..
I think he’s already reached 50…. except he’s had a dozen called back by the league’s H.Q. in Toronto and Bettman.
Sad to see Hyman leave but glad he is seeing success on a great team. Just hope Campbell can get himself out of the AHL.
I love the smile he plays with, thats a guy who appreciates what he has going on, the photo with the sack's of hatties is priceless!! As a neutral I love the guy.
I’m a Wings fan/panthers fan but I do love Edmonton and I’m rooting for them to raise a cup. Their team is very fun to watch.
He hits 50 for sure. On a team that has been inconsistent, he's the only constant. Works hard every night.
If you klick with McDavid a 20 goal scorer becomes a 40-50 goal scorer.
That's how good McDavid is!
If you click with Matthews,
a 40-goal season becomes 40 assists 😂😂😂😂
@@tamatb😂😂😂
Yeah but thats why Hyman chose edmonton over rhe leafs and others😂😂😂
Cant believe Dubas low balled him. As a die hard Leafs fan, he made the top 6 so much better.
Only Hyman can go through the playoffs with a broken pelvis. Warrior.
As a German I came from Draisaitl but stayed for Hyman. His on ice personality is infectious!
Hyman and Kane were carrying the oilers at the beginning of the season
I loved since he made that game winning goal last year in the playoffs. A really good guy.
Steve dangle had a very good point on his pod where he said that Zach as he ages is trending 📈 which is so rare for a hockey player to do at his age
20 seconds ago wowzers
Also, an award winning, best-selling children's book author. I'm not even joking. Look it up.
I knew that lol, he is pretty creative during the offseason
56 with 20 called back goals
when you started this video, your completely forget to state the fact that his first 3 years with the leafs babcock didnt use him effectively. And when he finally made the top 2nd and first 1ine with matthews and marner he was injured alot. just because he had 21 goals you didnt mention it was in 71 games then next year it was 21 in 51 games.
Leaf fans miss this guy heavily and always knew he was going to be this guy.
Should have included the clip of his non goal against the leafs this season. Absolutely filthy.
honestly one of the best names in the game too lmao
Think you nailed it, really. Even if he tails off some, he's already worth the contract. They needed immediate help, which is why they offered that contract, and he has delivered to the fullest.
There's practically no chance this guy falls off a cliff, but he's got maybe 1 more season of top production, before signs start showing.
Aside from that, he's a heart player, who plays to his fullest nearly every single shift. Fans in Edmonton, and fans of the team in general, really connect with that. He's going to go down as a fan favourite by the time this contract is up.
Even if he doesn't put up beast points in 3 seasons from now, he's gonna play with heart, because that's who he is, and that's why fans of the team, will always love the guy.
I'm going to stand at 54 goals for Hyman this season. A definite fan favorite. He reminds me of Smytty (as others have mentioned on here)
u nailed it, right on
I feel like you missed the best part of his game. He is plays hard every game. This guy grinds and leads. He reminds me of Ryan Smyth vut Hyman has more talent!
Bonus he is just an overall nice person. My favorite Oiler bow
My favourite thing about him is that he *never* gives up on a play. If he sees a puck, he will try to get it no matter how unlikely it is for him to succeed. And the thing is, with enough tries, you will get the puck sometimes. That sets the Oilers up for some great plays, or leading him to kill 30s of penalty all by himself
playing with mcdavid has gotta be such a dream man. makes everyone around him look so good
Hyman and Ekholm have saved this team and their contracts are so affordable!
Also such a likeable guy! Greetings from Jersey!
Flames fan coming in peace. Good for Hyman. He's working his ass off and seems to genuinely care about his teammates. All the power to him.
Hyman is Mcdavid's , Jari Kurri
The one thing I notice with human is even when the team is looking sloppy and lazy. He is jumping on pucks and creating chances. The dude is a workhorse and my personal favourite oiler.
Zachs numbers on the leafs did not do him justice, watching him you just knew he was a stud, an absolute grinder and I’m super happy to see him succeed, unreal player and an unreal guy. I miss him so much but nothing but love for him
good day to have my fav player since he got traded being 2nd most goals in nhl
He’s scored off his face. He’s been nothing but great for us
Hyman is a beauty…. Gonna be an Oiler legend at the end of things
Hyman needs to be talked about for Team Canada. We need size as well as skill and he has both!
The experience also helps.
Who on paper doesn't benefit from playing with McDavid? Hyman proved he can play with him, unlike many others.
Connor Brown?
@@JinyangTianhe isn’t on McDavid’s line
Zach Hyman 58 goals.
The modern day Ryan Smyth
Lets be real james neal worked here in edmonton he had like 20 goals with injuries
He was ofted injured the entire time he was here. Not his fault.
He works hard. Single best attribute a player can have. Not surprised at all.
51 is my guess too!
How can you not love Hyman? Workhorse, fearless, lethal, humble
47 goals
He was my favourite leaf at the time and i was sad to see him go, but really happy to see him shine in Edmonton (and get the bag ofc).
3rd in goal scoring*
So stoked to have Hymie on the team, he’s potting at least 50 this season
most consistent player on the entire roster, he's a beauty. He should have a letter
57 for #18.....Love him, Love him and Thank You Toronto!!!
Children’s book author Zack Hyman plays hockey too?
I bank on him scoring 53 goals
Exactly 53 or 53 plus?
Always hated when the oilers played the leafs because of this guy. Now hes an oiler!
It was a great signing by the Oilers.. and a stupid move by the Leafs...
if Hyman and Nurse swapped Contracts things would make more sense
Had this guy on my fantasy team. Sucked ass. Figures he's on pace for 50 goals.
He’s always been my favorite player and I’m not surprised he’s doing this well
He kind of disappeared last playoffs against Vegas.this year I don't think he's going anywhere
I'm thinking he gets 50 exactly. A few more called back goals along the way.
Noted children's author Zachary Hyman!
He has 40 goals as of February 28th. 50 is certainly not out of the realm of possibility. 😊
Good to see how he's "broken through" with the Oilers....ok I'll see myself out
Really enjoy watching this guy, very talented player. Agreed that this was a great move by Holland.
As a Panthers fan, I fear the Oilers the most if the Panthers make the Stanley Cup Final again.
They couldn’t have dreamed of losing 4-2 to the wild.
THANK YOU for that last point. I'm so tired of the whole "ItS bEcAuSe HeS pLaYiNG wItH mCdAvId" thing being used to invalidate the season he's having. It just feels really weird and gross and dishonest to me.
Yes, people know McDavid made it possible. You know what that's called? Being a leader. To set your team up for success. Which is his job.
I’m gonna say he ends with 47, I really don’t know why but something’s telling me 47.
He is like nuge-- he wont age. We love him and I love his reacrion pf disbelief when he scores.. he shakes his head and and says a few words to mcdavid cuz he cant beleiev the pass he fot. Just love him. Makes up for some other (cough goalie) mistake(s).
GO OILERS GO!!
Best draft pick for me in my fantasy league. He produces night in and night out! Dude’s a stud.
Now... if the Oilers could ever get Mcdavid with 60+, Hyman and Drai with 50+, Nuge with 100+ pts, and Bouchard with 25+ in the same season? That team would be unstoppable.
He’s only getting all these goals cause he’s playing with mcdavid
He’s going to fall just shy. I’m betting 48.
Good value for the money. What an investment. Cash and Carry. Anyone feeling like just watching street hockey at this point?
Win or lose Im A True Hockey Fan for the restof My Life--- ❤
Another Kyle dubas master class letting Hyman go. First he trades kadri for kerfoot then lets Hyman go for nothing when he was clearly a core piece. GARBAGE GM
Bardown 1 timer lmfao rittich caught a piece of it on the blocker scrub
How much Kurri heard "yeah well, he plays with Gretzky" repeated over years.
Great teams don't magicly create great players, great players make great teams.
Jonathan Cheechoo won the Rocket Richard Trophy with 56 goals. He played with Jumbo Joe Thornton. Hyman is better than Cheechoo but will never score 56 goals in a season.
Put me on a line with McDavid, and I'll get 20 goals.
Zack’s going to get 70 goals screw Matthews this guy is peak goal scoring
oh please all these people stealing players from canada's team. You probally think mathews is going to the states.
we we had a team of Hymans the stanley cup would be renamed the oilers cup.
53
Oilers fans should be excited because EVERY single time the leafs let a decent player walk, they go win a cup somewhere else.
Ryan Smyth 2.0. Maybe Glenn Anderson 3.0.
One of the best value contracts in the NHL, as well as Draisaitl’s contract. Leon is going to want big money coming up (and rightly so).
And even with all the talent the Oilers aren't close in having a SC winning team. Yikes!
I am the oiler fan getting Hyman was the best move ever.He will get 53 goals
And the dude author's children's books, has a cameo in a Hyundai commercial and seems like he'd be hilarious to hang out with
It's good for the Oilers. The Maple Leaf's hands were tied. with the cap situation. zach hyman Is an awesome player? I wish The Maple Leaf found a way. to keep him.
