Good morning! Thank you so much for this video! We have a summer cottage very close to Armstrong and I didn’t even know this yarn shop existed! I will for sure check it out in person this summer when we go to the lake. Armstrong is located in an absolutely beautiful part of British Columbia. The area is full of sparkling, clean lakes where we waterski, boat surf, etc. There are mountains, orchards, dairy farms, wineries, rolling green hills. It’s remarkable. If you ever come to Canada, come to this area! The climate in the summertime is perfect with very hot summer days and gentle, warm evenings. It’s not what Americans picture Canada to be. Ha ha ha!

Hi Amy! I have recently discovered your videos and really enjoy watching someone closer to my own age talk about knitting and being just as obsessed with it as I am. And I am Danish, so it’s really funny to see how PetiteKnit has made it all the way to the US 🧶👏🏻 And a little side note: In Danish, whenever there is a consonant after H, we just do not pronounce it, so Hjelholt is actually pronounce “Jelholt”

I LOVE the Twisted Purl! I live nearby and I met two lovely ladies who inspired me to knit the Trinigan Cardigan by Andrea Mowry using Noro yarn and I am having so much fun watching it knit up. I cannot recommend them enough!

That's awesome that you live nearby! I got to chat with the owner of the store and some other employees there and they are wonderful. Trinigan in Noro sounds so fun!

Peer Gynt is the only yarn that you have that I’ve also had. I have to say that I was worried about the scratch factor but I’m making the Zipper Sweater Light Man for my boyfriend, and when it becomes a fabric it’s not so scratchy as the skein seems.
I’ve also made two swatches. The first one has been washed in the machine as suggested by the label and it’s softer than before and bloomed really well.
The other one was a test (I don’t really trust my bf with washing the sweater so I wanted to see if the yarn was a good choice AHAAH) and I’ve washed it several times (5+), both by hand and machine, and with every single wash it becomes softer and nicer to the touch and is holding up amazing.

I love when you give New England yarn shop references. Can’t wait to see circle of stitches!

For the single ball of Arwetta, you could divide your ball in half to be sure you have enough for each sock and then make toe up socks. I think the DRK everyday socks would be a good pattern for that. Just for reference, I made the Heartichoke socks by Joshephine and the Seeds with 68 grams and those are regular length socks.

Thank you for a fun video! I love being nosey looking at people's stash and how they store their fibers. I am going to start my channel soon and begin with a stash video - you've given me a great example of a nice way of doing it. Lots of love from the Pacific Northwest 🧡

That red color with broken rib sounds like the Lola Tank by knitting with Kika! I know you’re a Petite Knit lover, but I’m obsessed with the Lola top and will definitely cast on my 3rd this summer!❤

As someone who's yarn stash is a complete disaster and none of it is in ravelry, this video is a personal attack. 😅
Kidding, of course. This was such a fun video and props to you for being so organized!

For the alpaca check out the alinea cardigan, it’s textured and needs drape and if you can get the garage that yarn might fit the bill

Oh wow what an awesome stash and kudos for putting everything into ravelry.
About Sandness Peer Gynt: I dont know if this is also true for the Peer Gynt but the Tynn Peer Gynt which I've used for Petiteknit's Monday Sweater got super soft when working with it. I was also a bit sceptical and worried it'd be too scratchy/ itchy but I'm more than happy with the softness of my sweater

You can definitely get a decent pair of socks from one skein of Arwetta! I have UK size 5 feet and made the Erika socks from Laine 52 weeks of socks with 50g of sock yarn :) They don't have a super long leg but longer than I expected I would be able to squeeze out of one skein!

hi! just wanted to say that I do have small feet too (european size 36 xD) and I did squeeze out a really short pair of "library socks" out of one ball of filcolana arwetta! I used a 2.5mm needle and 56 stitches for the start :) I think the ribbing helps the sock stretch a bit xD

This is so fun! If you are looking for a pattern to use up all of your one-off balls of silk mohair I'd recommend Times Square by Susie Haumann. The scarf itself is straightforward but her color management in the pattern was useful. I have been working on my own version with leftovers while watching! :)

    What a beautiful yarn collection!
I’ve tried knit the musselburgh in 100g of dk and realized I wouldn’t get the length I wanted. So I just knit the pattern until I ran out of yarn and bound off. It worked out and I think it would’ve been too thick if I made it to pattern. Just my experience 😊

With a 100-gram skein of fingering weight yarn I can usually get 2 pairs of shortie socks with yarn left over.

How many yards of DK is considered sweater quantity? New to the garment knitting journey and DK is my weight of choice. Thanks for your videos I look forward to seeing more

    • @neknits
      @neknits  Рік тому +1

This is very dependent on size and pattern style. To find out, I would research multiple DK-weight patterns you like the style of (you can sort for just DK on Ravelry) and see how much yardage is required for your size. Once you collect the yardages for a few sweaters, you'll probably see a common range emerge.

I have ALL my stash entered into Ravelry. It has changed my knitting life. I find I buy less yarn because I now know what I have and where it is. But, my question is, in Ravelry, where did you find your total yardage and which weight you have the most yarn? My stash just shows me how many stash entries I have.

I used the Export button which gave me an excel sheet with all the data, and then added a few Sum functions in excel to calculate! Once it's in excel the data analysis possibilities are endless haha
