For your socks what kind of cast on are you using? I’ve found using a stretchier cast on such as German twist on can help! Great episode as always love seeing your colourwork cardigan come together!
I was going to say the same - I've knit this same vanilla sock pattern and found the cast on edge was too tight, while the rest of the sock was the right size. So I think a different stretchier cast on would solve the problem!
I was going to say the same about German twisted cast on! I also go up at least one, but usually two needle sizes for it. It's suuuuper stretchy and I haven't had any trouble at all with the cuff flaring out. My fave cast on!
I'm also participating in the Sewrella Spring MAL!!
Going to make The Mariniere with the stripes in Pinot Noir. I'm looking forward to it!!
Use a size 2 needle to cast on & do your cuff, then you can size down on the rest of the sock.
Felici colorways are limited edition! So they'll still carry the yarn, but it'll be in different limited edition colors.
And oh my goodness, you're too sweet! I'm so glad you love the yarn, I cannot wait to see those socks! They're going to be gorgeous!
Love the yarn you chose for your Musselburgh! You're going to love the pattern, it's such a nice, mindless knit!
Your podcast has been great. We live in NE, my grandson is graduating from RPI this May with a chemical engineering degree and your neutral palette is my comfort place.. Happy Spring and thank you.
I’ve knit the Towns Sweater and using same needle size allows the boxier rib - sounds like you sized down the needle size which will cinch in the rib. Hope it blocks as you’d like! 😊
ooo good point. I am expecting the cinched ribbing to open up a lot with blocking!
Your new pair of mitts are fun! What progress on your Ozetta sweater. Wool of the Andes is a good workhorse yarn. Knit Picks always reminds me of Trader Joe's because they cut out the middle man which enables their affordable prices. Maybe cast on more sts for the cuff and then decrease down for a tighter leg and foot? I use The Knitulator by Mimi Codd which gives you a formula for decreasing or increasing stitches.
I really must say I loved this episode, and your joy for knitting really came thru. ❤ I love your first steek cardigan, and your review of the boxy sweater, it looks so good, I can't wait to see it finished, too! Have a beautiful day 🌻
That yarn you picked up for the Musselburgh is so pretty, curious to see it knit up ! I haven’t made that hat yet but another one by the designer and really like the top down, gaugeless pattern ☺️
I knit and steeked a cardigan for the first time last year and it went really well. The worst part I thought, was just maneuvering the cardigan around the sewing machine. I would recommend you make sure your sewing tension is not too tight and you’re not pulling the cardigan to stretch the fabric at all, that way it doesn’t get misshapen prior to picking up stitches. Also, that stitch unevenness will block out nicely. Lopi is really forgiving. And not that I strongly recommended this, but if you need some more length, Lopi when wet really stretches out with some pulling. I’ve actually (sort of) ruined some sweaters by picking them up by the shoulders (into hanging position) directly from blocking soak. Don’t know if that is making any sense, but proceed with caution! 😅⚠️ Can’t wait to see the finished cardi!
So many awesome tips - thank you! I will take all of that into consideration when I sew down my steek!
I love my Musselburgh and think I used a 3. Which is what crazy sock lady used a yr or more ago shared what she used. Probably on her progress page. I am sure 2 workers fine too. Love your progress on all your sweaters. Judy
I totally hear you on the socks. i am a tight knitter so the usual stitch count in patterns don't work. I cast on 76 for myself and 80 for my bf. love your content!
Another awesome podcast! I think your Musselburgh will be perfect. I use a US 2 for mine as well and I really love the amount of drape I got from it. :)
In love with your Towns Sweater Amy. Love your yarn and color choice. Would love to knit this sweater as I never really made a sweater from the bottom up. Look forward to seeing your finish project. Love your crochet granny squares. Have you seen the Cherry Heart Podcast? I also gravitate to crochet in the summer.
I have not seen the Cherry Heart podcast but thanks for the recommendation! I will have to check it out
Hi Amy
Your Kal looks so sweet on you and gloves
Your cast ons as usual are so beautifully made
Love watching your podcast
Have a great week!!! 💝😊🇨🇦🇨🇦
Love that cowl!! Absolutely beautiful! Makes me want to get my knitting needles out and make it! Can you describe how you did the “yarn surgery” on the self striping yarn to ensure your stripes are even? Thanks so much!
Thank you! For the self striping yarn, when I finished the first mitten and cut the yarn, I pulled out the yarn until I reached the same color as the cuff before starting the second mitten. That way both of my mittens started with the same color stripe, and matched!
Amazing podcast. Enjoy your trip 💗
I started the same Granny Square blanket this weekend haha
It is a great project for in between as they are worked up so quickly (already have around 15 finished)
For the socks, that depends on how the heel part of yout foot is made. When I point my feet, my heels "hide" more towards the inside of my ankles (don't know how to explain it in English lol 😂) compared to let's say my mom and my hubby. Their heels stick out way more than mine and they will have a hard time putting on my socks, even if we all have the same feet circumference (so all the same number of sts for socks). For them, I need to do a more elascic CO (if cuff down) or BO (if toe up).
That Birch and Lily yarn 😍😍😍
Love your videos
With the socks try casting on with 0.5 ore one needle size bigger, maybe your cast on is too tight.
Great Podcast again! I like how you have all your notes and just flows.
I usually do toe up socks (DRKeverydaysocks), but when the pattern calls for calf down I always used the TwistedGermanCastOn(ua-cam.com/video/oWHRfvU5im0/v-deo.html).
I am knitting also a Cardigan (Copenhagen Cardigan) It has been a bit of a slog because is back and fort. Never thought I mind to purl my stitches but I guess have not been doing it for a while and is... a bit slower 🙄Inga from Knitting Traditions is doing a blanket with knitted squares 30 bumps of garter stiches. I just can't make myself to like the granny square look🤷♀
Marinière is spelt with an accent on one of the e (in actual French)... which is why you couldn't pronounce the word correctly! 😇
Jokes aside, this word is definitely a mouthful with 2 French Rs!
Congratulations on all your progress! I can't wait to see how your cardigan turns out (steeking...)
OMG we love your video and your scarf is too adorable! we would definitely love to collab let me know if you are interested? 🥰
I'm 30 seconds in and just want to tell you that your lipstick color is stunning on you. 😊
Thank you!
