    Thanks for another lovely podcast. For your mohair yarn I suggest to check the pattern "Dusking" by Kiyomi Burgin. You start knitting at the neckband with 4 strands and on your way down you remove a strand until you only knit with 1 strand. That way the seethrough parts are not critical. Happy knitting!

    Thank you for another lovely episode! 🥰 A note on the olivegreen Sandnes Garn: The number under „Parti“ is the dye lot. „Farge“ means colour, so that’s the colour number/name. 😊

    I love your storm sweater Jessica! Also the donut yarn with plumy purple in it is so, so pretty. I feel like that with the purple yarn you already have stashed would be cool for two color brioche as well! ♥️

    You guys are adorable. Thank you for sharing all of your beautiful sweaters, socks and hats. You are amazing knitters. So beautiful. I really enjoy seeing what others are working on. This winter I did a beautiful Chunky Chenille Afghan for my Queen sized bed in Bernat Big yarn in vintage white. And it is so warm and cozy. I just love it. I also did a sky blue and vintage white, a 50' x 50" throw with several throw pillows. I made the Sunday Brunch Sweater by Kika which turned out amazing. And I'm working on another one. It's from the bottom up on straight needles with drop shoulders. I altered the sleeves to make them longer, because I didn't want 3/4 length for the winter. I'm knitting another one in pink and white. I also did about four different hats, three scarves, a two cowls and a couple of chunky chenille hats, which I don't like as well as Kika's chunky beanie style. I also designed one of my own cute artist type hats that sits to the side and I left a spot in the back to pull my braid through, so that turned out really cute. That's a lot. It's been fun and warm here in the Midwest with all of my projects. Thanks for sharing. (^Note: I was having a hard time hearing you guys at times with my volume all the way up.) Other than that, awesome job!:)

    I just finished my first throw over sweater bt Andre Mawry and loved the knit. I lovef it so much i found stash yarn for another and may cast it on tonight. Also working on the two colour version of the grain sweater. Getting through the yolk was a bit of a slog. Using Ask yarn and the stickiness made the k2tog and k5tog a challenge. I might try another 2 colour version just using 2 different yarns no mohair. Am also free styling a toque to go with the throwover, using yp leftover ysrn and the throwover chart.

    I am currently working on the Stepaside Sweater by Jennifer Beale. It is BY FAR the most interesting knitting pattern I have ever knit. It is yarn origami at its finest!! I have had to learn all over again the lesson of trusting the pattern!! 😅❤😂 I am using more muted colors than hers, with two natural alpaca yarns. My main color is from a medium gray alpaca and then the natural color is from a white alpaca. I am loving the yarn almost as much as the interesting knit! See y’all again soon!

    When knitting horizontally, row gauge is important. My row gauge is always different than patterns and it changes the length of the garment and I’ve had to do a lot of math ahead of time. Just something to keep in mind to avoid disappointment. Great podcast!

    I knit the Thursday Sweater, a free pattern from Hedgehog Fibers, in 10 days (size 3-6 months) and I highly recommend the pattern. You can TOTALLY knit it in a week. I was also working on some other projects at the same time and it was a really quick knit. I used DK weight yarn but the original pattern uses leftover sock yarn held double which I used for the cuffs, collar, and some of the sleeves.

    Lovely podcast as always, thank you Rachel and Jessica. I have just cast on an Aura Vest by Irene Lin. I love her cabled vests but the yarn I had was sport weight and more silky than round, so not really the best choice for cables. It’s a Teeswater 4ply and suits the lacy texture of the Aura. Fun and easy lace pattern and a nice oversized fit if it comes out as I hope. The Sook Moon by Aegyoknit would be lovely in your mohair. You could maybe alternate holding it single and double.

    I watch your „older“ content again because it keeps me company while knitting. I‘m currently recovering from orthopedic surgery so need to lay a lot, it’s super boring so I knit a LOT. 😅
    I don’t like we are knitters because they name their yarn misleading. „Touch me mohair“ suggests a higher content of mohair then 22% - 54% babyalpaca isn’t what someone would expect of that yarn name. Especially the bulky yarns - they do a lot - are very prone to pilling and feel a bit tacky to me.
    I also don’t like their patterns.
    I‘m happy I found „the real deal“. Don’t appreciate it then companies are trying to fool me.

    Another lovely episode ladies, I just wanted to say that I also I knit the Elizabeth Blouse last year and found the collar and placet super difficult- I didn’t enjoy it at all and I’ve never worn the sweater because the collar is so wide and looks so odd that it makes me so sad. I did it with a class and everyone was super frustrated with it too, so I can see why she rates it difficulty level 5. Yours looks really good perhaps it’s the color, I did a light blue which extenuates how big and wide the collar looks. Ugh!!!! It’s Awful!!!!

    • @thosetwinswhoknit
      @thosetwinswhoknit  7 місяців тому

      Oh no!! I do agree, the collar is a pain! I did not like Judy’s magic cast on, and having to start that way is what caused me to look up the difficulty rating to begin with. I was like, what did I get myself into! 😅 but seeing others rate it lower is what helped me tell myself I could do it, so I thought it was interesting that there was such a difference from her rating to others. I do agree though, it’s not a beginner knit at all! I’m so sorry you don’t enjoy it or wear it.

    I have heard of you saying you are a tight knitter. When I use fingerling and make socks, I use a U.S. 2 to get gauge because I am such a tight knitter. I am making my first sweater, the autumn league sweater and I am using 7 and 8 needle with sk because the dk with a 9 seemed like string on the needle. My gauge swatches were still smaller but I didn’t wet them and block them. Any advice would be appreciated

    • @thosetwinswhoknit
      @thosetwinswhoknit  7 місяців тому

      Ahh I wish I had some prolific advice! We sometimes have to go up a size from what the pattern recommends for our measurements, and sometimes have to go up a weight of yarn, ie if it says DK, sometimes going up to a light worsted is helpful! But mostly just gauge swatching 😅 I knit on a US 2 for socks as well!

      We both prefer DPNs, but honestly I feel like everyone has to try all of the options to decide! I have attempted twice, but cannot seem to get what needs to be done on Round 5 in Chart C. To me this is the trickiest part of the pattern so far, so I am disappointed that the tutorial, which has been wonderful, does not address this step at all. I cannot figure out what I’m doing wrong.

    • @thosetwinswhoknit

      That’s odd the tutorial didn’t address this step! I followed the directions to knit the first stitches of the row together, and then when one stitch remains in the row, to slip that stitch over the first stitch in the row (which was k2tog) so it’s kind of a Frankenstein double decrease. Hopefully that helps!

    I was wondering if you purchase most of your yarn on line or from your local yarn store?

      A bit of both! I would say recently it has been more online, but we are lucky to have several great yarn stores around us 🤗 Most of the time we start with a pattern in mind and find the yarn based on that, so it depends on if the LYS around us have something that will work or not. :)
