You'll learn basic drawing and painting tips and techniques that will have you painting an enchanted fantasy landscape animal portrait painting of a mystical forest with a whimsical frog sitting in the grass while reading a book under the light of a mushroom. Set in front of a backdrop of mysterious woodland trees, this charming and sophisticated amphibian gazing at the pages of an open piece of literature offers an important, yet fun message to its viewers... that reading is fundamental. With his soft curious grin, eyes glistening from the warm reflection of the mushroom glow, and the book resting peacefully on his knees, this cute critter will surely bring a smile to your face. The first lesson you’ll learn in this acrylic instruction is how to paint atmospheric dimension in the background using a loose blending and stippling method to transition the colors into one another with the intent on creating an inviting yet alluring mood that will help set the stage for this imaginary story set in a fairytale world. With just a few strokes of rich colors to create the illusion of a fantasy forest, you will then give your self-educating croaker and the large toadstool lamp form and structure by drawing an easy outline with chalk and applying a simple basecoat as the foundation. Other: white chalk, palette, cup of water for washing brushes, paper towel for drying brushes

STEPS:
1. 1/2 inch bristle brush - Paint background with white, green, blue, black
2. #12 round brush - Paint tree trunks and branches with forest green (made in step 1), black and white
3. chalk - Draw outline for mushroom and frog
4. #12 round brush - Paint base coat for mushroom and frog with green, red and brown
5. #5 round brush - Paint dark areas of frog with brown, black and green
6. #5 round brush - Finish eyes and book with black, brown, white, red, yellow and green
7. #5 round brush - Finish frog with green, yellow, brown and white
8. #12 round brush - Finish mushroom with red, brown, black, white, and yellow
9. #12 round and 1/2 inch bristle brushes - Paint grass and leaves with black, green and red
10. 1/2 inch bristle brush - Paint light with yellow and white
11. #5 round brush - Sign with green

For those of you who think "this is one of those commercial paint and sip classes I can do at home" painting, step back and look at the painting again, and the detail. Tell yourself "It is okay if I don't finish this in one sitting." This is a great painting to do at home because if you are a beginner or you are used to those places, you need longer to do some of the amazing things that Michelle does here. I took my time and hit pause a lot and came out with a better painting than i would have at a paint and sip location. This takes it to a more challenging level. I was super frustrated at first, but watching each step all the way through before I started doing it, and not having a deadline to finish really helped. I just finished mine and I'm so proud of it! I'm going to try the Dandelion Fairy Dance next now that I accept I can take each step at my own pace until I'm happy with it, instead of having to finish it in 2-3 hours.

Oh Michelle this is Awesome!! I love frogs! I did the other one you had and everyone loved it too! When my Husband was alive he helped me with some ponds in our backyard, I had some nice healthy frogs in them and they were loud, he has been gone for 12 years today, so this was a happy memory for me, will definitely put this one on my list!!

My frog’s legs came out soooo wrong on my sketch!! I did it on the first try, though. My light source looks crazy, but I know the errors and will fix them during the actual canvas painting. Michelle, you are an excellent teacher. I’m living out one of my dreams. Thank you!!♥️♥️♥️

Hi Michelle! I learned a lot from this video! The background technique was really cool! What intrigued me was the drawing of the frog. I could not figure out from your shapes how he was going to turn out! I loved it and I plan to practice drawing him with those techniques first. It was really good instruction. I have watched a lot of your videos-this one for me was very insightful of your process. Seriously, they are all good and I have learned so much from watching them. I am passing what I am learning to my 9 yr granddaughter. We paint together sometimes and I love to show her how you do it.! Thank you for taking the time to teach us. And as always to the camera man who knows exactly when to zoom in!!!!

🍄 are called toad's stool.. Agaricus.
We make remedies to cure spasms, Parkinsonism, twitching of eyelids, cramps , chills, hypothermia , cancer & tumours.
In regional language , Bangla in India it's called umbrella of frog & toad.
Cancer patients must have it's juice or soup 🍲.. but who have excess copper in their body ( Wilson's disease) should never have it.

What do you prime your canvas with? I'm brand new at this. I purchased one of your kits and I am so excited to get started on it😍
Hi Donna, I purchase all of my canvases already primed. It's easier for me considering how much I paint. You can use a layer of acrylic gesso but it's really not necessary if your canvas is primed when purchased. Have fun painting!

What a great marriage of light and shadow. That all makes beautiful sense except for the light coming out of the middle of the mushroom. I didn't understand that. Wouldn't the light come from behind the mushroom?
