These are the real Hero!
I know I’m being that guy and I do apologize but no sorry no. They are not heroes not in the least and less we’re talking someone who’s raising tremendous money for a charity. They are incredible athletes who got to experience something incredible and kudos to them. Heroes , please.
Yes they are a hero to someone but not everyone. Doctors, firemen, the military and many more are heroes because they don’t do this once a year. They work everyday
They might be Heroes for someone.
Regardless, everyone who crosses the finish line deserves respect.

Dont understand how people with these finish times can be qualified for Kona
These are age groupers…not pros. They finished a previous race fast enough in their respective age groups to qualify to get to this race. The heat and humidity is probably way worse then where the they’re from, the goal is to just finish the best you can.
also can qualify for Kona as *Legacy* - finish 12 races & apply, then finish at least one more. allows ~400? dedicated athletes to participate with the pros & age groupers. that's why this video captures so much emotion
