Possible, but unlikely. Gout Gout is quick in the 100m, but he's not the fastest youth in the world at the 100m. He's on track to break Bolt's 200m WR, but he'll need to have a pretty big jump in progression to be on track to break Bolt's 100m WR.

10.17 (+0.9) after a sluggish start & 20.04 (+1.5) NR - not a bad couple of days as a 16yr old! Has also now run faster than the 20.16 qualifying standard for next yr's Tokyo WC, so could very well line up next yr as a 17yr old in a WC 200m Heat in Tokyo next to any of Lyles, Tebogo, Bednarek & Knighton :)
@@gustaaf1892 Yup & fellow teenage Aussie sprinter Torrie Lewis will be training with Femke Bol & Lieke Klaver, good times ahead for AUS who did really well at this yr's World Juniors!
If he does any weights, it should be preventative type training, not power weights. He's gonna get stronger over the next 3 years naturally. Let him run. Kim Collins style.
3:08 Based on measurements I made in google earth (as I'm unfamiliar with QSAC and didn't know where the 100m line is) and comparing those measurements to the video, it seems like Gout Gout had a first hundred split of just over 10.6 seconds (but under 10.7), which gives him a final 100 of 9.34-9.44 seconds. It's hard to know exactly, as the TV clock says 19.7 when he crosses the finish line, but I think that's a decent estimation.
Watching his interviews he seems to be slightly hyperactive like myself always busy busy and he leaves all that energy on the track! Love this kid! The future indeed.
Gout Gout just broke the Australian 200m record which has stood for 55 years. This was a record that was set by Peter Norman in the Mexico City Olympics which earnt him a silver medal. Now 55 years later a 16-year-old boy from Australia breaks it to become the fastest Australian 200m in history. For good measure he also broke Usan Bolts fastest 200m time as a 16 year old. Remember the name Gout Gout. He is just getting started.
Bolt's 20:13 as a 17-year old was 21 years ago (not 16), plus it ain't even the under-18 record anymore: see Erriyon Knighton - 19.84. it's bad journalism to always bring up Bolt and not even recognise the current record holder. you shouldn't parrot sh!te clickbait titles, it just makes you look clueless.
As an Australian, I am so excited to see him perform at this level already! A gold medal for Australia in the future Olympics for sure. He is only going to get faster and faster.👍💪🇦🇺
@ Bolt was nearly the same height when he broke the junior WR as when he ran that 9:58 at 21. How tall Gout may be at 20 is no yardstick for how fast he may run, but his technique will improve drastically with training and exposure, and THAT will see him edge closer to those legendary WRs!
@ What’s reaching is the speculation that he won’t! The fact is at 16 Gout has broken Bolt’s record and all evidence and Bolt’s past historical progress show that Gout, in all probability would go on to supersede the Great man.
Bolt had the tendency of simply going through the motions to win races and never really aimed at breaking records. If Gout Gout concentrates on finishing well all the time, he's likely to break all of Bolts records. From Bolt to Gout! Go boy! The sky is the limit.
His parents have said his name Gout Gout is abit lost in translation when they came to Australia and is pronounced like Gu-ot lets respect this future legend and call him what he and his family wishes
daim boy ! erryion with a 19,84 as a 17 year old is crazy. goes to show that crazy historical talent doesnt always mean that you end up on top as a pro
The problem is people putting too much pressure on these young ones to be like Bolt ,Knighton was under pressure to be the next Bolt, then Kishane as well look now he has to deal with injuries. Gout just needs the proper mentorship. The problem in the US is they want to make you a superstar overnight before it's your time, hopefully Knighton will bounce back.
Knighton is still only 20yrs old, crazy that ppl are already writing him off! Has been in all 4 WC/OLY 200m Finals from '21 - '24 finishing 4th, 2nd, 3rd & 4th respectively. Just seems stuck in the 19.72 - 19.79 range atm, could very well need a new coach/environment & maybe running more 100s (and a few 400s) to help take him to the next level as a short sprinter.
@@scotty5166you make me laugh. Drugs won’t help you get faster it’s your genes. Some respond well to them they’re called hyper responders. If gout trains hard and is a hyper responder then he’s good.
He looks like Bolt, but he's considerably smaller. Around 5 inches shorter, but has the stride length of Bolt. He's a different animal and his potential with faster starts and just a little more strength in his top end speed makes 9.59 and 19.19 vulnerable imho. I called him out as a future champ when he ran 20.89 a year ago at 15yo. He's dropped 0.85 in one year. I expect he'll drop 0.4 in the next and 0.2 the year after at 18yo. That gets him close to Usain's record.
nah bro, crazy how Gout Gout had the 131th fastest 200m sprint in history and broken the national record at the age of 16?! Gosh, this man is a future star.
Gout Gout breaking the Australian national record, after 56 years set by Peter Norman is actually quite poetic when you know its history. For those who don’t know, Peter Norman was an Australian Olympian who set the 200m sprint record of 20.06 seconds during the 1968 Mexico City Olympics and won silver medal. During the medal ceremony, he was part of the now famous Olympic Black Power salute. Peter supported the two US athletes - Tommie Smith and John Carlos - and even wore a badge for the Olympic Project for Human Rights to show his support. After 1968, Peter never competed in the Olympics again. He was ridiculed in Australia for his part in the Black Power salute and was denied selection by the Australian Olympic Committee for the 1972 Munich Games. He was not even included for the 2000 Sydney Olympics despite holding the national sprint record. Peter passed away in 2006, with Tommie and John as his pallbearers during his funeral. In 2012, the Australian government gave a posthumous apology for how the AOC and country treated him. Since 1968, no other Australian has ever come close to Peter Norman’s record. Until in 2024, when Gout Gout, a young Sudanese-Australian, broke his record after 56 years with the record of 20.04 seconds. Edit: Gout Gout is Sudanese-Australian. Not Somali-Australian. Thanks everyone for pointing that out!
Three interesting facts 1. Peter Norman is famous for the black power podium photograph 2. That tiny stadium Gout Gout ran in is currently scheduled to be the main stadium for Brisbane Olympics 2032 lol 3. Erriyon Knighton was done for doping (I didn't know this but I thought there was a pretty good chance so looked it up and guess what haha)
The new State government have said they have no interest in upgrading QSAC. That's what this current Olympic review is all about. So they can get a recommendation to bulldoze Victoria Park and put a big new stadium on it instead of improving the Gabba or QSAC.
Not meaning to take away from Norman's incredible achievements, but has anyone considered that his time was at high altitude. It would put Gout Gout at the very top.
He already is the top. Peter Norman's high altitude 20.06 was probably equivalent to around 20.25. Capabianco's 20.18 was probably the fastest Aussie sprinter ever over 200m. Patrick Johnson's 9.93 in Tokyo, as a 1/2 or 1/4 Indigenous Australian is Gout Gout's next target. If he gets that, he's headed for sub 19.50 in the 200m. Indigenous runner Thewbelle Philp ran 11.36 at these championships too as a 16yo. I can see her going close to 60m indoor world records in the next 2 years. Fastest starter I've ever seen for a female. Absolute rocket, with super high cadence, but short stride length. 11.36 is impressive, but she hits her peak speed at about the 20 meter mark and maintains it ok. She ran 23.40 in the 200m, and got run down by a long strider to take 2nd.
but we must take into account the tracks, shoes, coaching, supplements and general athlete support in all areas. The last 56 years have had immense gains in every conceivable area
@KayCeeHope Sadly there are many miserable hateful coaches that can ruin Gout Gout in Australia. Coach selection will be vital. He should consider Michael Johnson.

I agree that the 200 + 400 combo should be his go. I don't think he'll ever be able to mix it with the top 100m sprinters because of his quite poor starts and the time it takes him to wind up to full speed.
@@gustaaf1892 completely agree. The second half of his race is where he explodes. Would need to get a lot bigger and nail the start to compete internationally in the 100
@@erinwilson5415 "need to get a lot bigger", well yes he is 16 he obviously will .. His tailwind 10.04 is 4th fastest all time .. he came into the meet with a PB of 10.29, he could very well be all time fastest junior in the next 12 months at both 100 and 200 .. so why would he want to torture himself in the 400?
well it is 30C+ weather here with generally nice light following winds - perfect. Queensland (where these national school championships are held this year) has weather like Texas
He's running 19.8 next year as a U20. He'll be ineligible for U18 next year. But I do believe he may run 19.8 next year. 19.7 at 19. If he doesn't plateau like Erriyon
He's 16. Turns 17 December 29. Fair chance he'll smash all under 18 records. He improved about 0.85 of a second since his last year's record breaking 20.89 as a 15yo. He's a top speed guy, not a power starter, whose speed tends to abate as they age. Strength will increase, getting him to top speed at 30m instead of 45m from the start. Perhaps even a slight increase in his top speed, which puts him into the ether.
Unbelievable times for such a young fella but it is too presumptuous to think he will continue on his trajectory. Knighton was in a similar position and hasn’t continued to improve to the heights we had hoped! YET!
For those confused , his parents hail from South Sudan! Big difference between Sudan and South Sudan. You can see it by the look. Sudanese look like Horn Africa people, different facial features, speak Arabic, religiously Muslims. South Sudanese are totally different.
"Because this 16 year old just did something so historic that I don't think this has ever been done in track and field history." Yup, that's what "historic" means.
A young athlete with great potential. He's had a great 2024 with a second the the Junior Worlds in the 200m, for some reason he didn't run the 100m. I hope he will kick on into a great senior career eventually but still a long way to go for that.

Or the 19.19.
Possible, but unlikely. Gout Gout is quick in the 100m, but he's not the fastest youth in the world at the 100m. He's on track to break Bolt's 200m WR, but he'll need to have a pretty big jump in progression to be on track to break Bolt's 100m WR.
@@MrSupdup hes only 16 bud, he has nothing but time and growth, its definitely possible/likely lol

Nope, let's not get carried away. Some athletes, myself included, do not progress when manhood takes hold. Ran same times as grown ass as I did at 16... However I wasn't a Gout Gout by any stretch. Wunder kids come and go, how many have actually gone on to their supposed full potential?
what a champ, I'm a disabled person with like, zero cardio ability, so watching this is fuckin' incredible. Hope this guy has a bright future ahead of him, no pressure of course :3
you can work on that cardio ability with just your arms if you have trouble walking/running long distances! You can use an assault bike for example
No need for name calling
You can change that! I dated a para olympian wheel chair sprinter once. He also played murderball. Scuba dived. Everything but walk…
God bless you ❤this made me almost tear up.
Nope
Seeeing this live was wild 😮
10.17 (+0.9) after a sluggish start & 20.04 (+1.5) NR - not a bad couple of days as a 16yr old! Has also now run faster than the 20.16 qualifying standard for next yr's Tokyo WC, so could very well line up next yr as a 17yr old in a WC 200m Heat in Tokyo next to any of Lyles, Tebogo, Bednarek & Knighton :)
He'll be training with Lyles in Florida next month, so he can start getting used to mixing with the world's elite sprinters.
@@gustaaf1892 Yup & fellow teenage Aussie sprinter Torrie Lewis will be training with Femke Bol & Lieke Klaver, good times ahead for AUS who did really well at this yr's World Juniors!
Wait till he builds size like Usain Bolt he’s gonna be the best runner in the world in the next couple years.
If he manages rounds well he can get into the final honestly
The plan is for him to run at World Juniors next year not WC, plenty of time for him to face the adults down the track.
That’s nuts! I think we have a living legend coming when he hits his 20s
Pure elastic power, please don’t overtrain him or go hard on the weights. His potential is huge.
If he does any weights, it should be preventative type training, not power weights. He's gonna get stronger over the next 3 years naturally. Let him run. Kim Collins style.

What lol?
only 130 in history have ever run faster than him. and certainly not a single 47 year old ever could.
😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂
I love seeing people shine when you can clearly see they're born for it.
I don't know if I've ever seen that level of acceleration on the back 100. Insane performance.
Loving these videos and thank you for putting this up so fast
LOL
“He’s GOUT of this world”
Great line
3:08 Based on measurements I made in google earth (as I'm unfamiliar with QSAC and didn't know where the 100m line is) and comparing those measurements to the video, it seems like Gout Gout had a first hundred split of just over 10.6 seconds (but under 10.7), which gives him a final 100 of 9.34-9.44 seconds. It's hard to know exactly, as the TV clock says 19.7 when he crosses the finish line, but I think that's a decent estimation.
He's got that leg drive that only the very best sprinters have. Amazing to see.
He didn’t break Bolt’s record, he broke the long standing record of an Australian athlete. Not to demean an incredible performance!!
Australian sprinting is in good hands.. bring on the Olympics 💪🏼
He is just getting started.
you sold him short a year - 56 years 2 months. Time it went, but it was a great record as he split Tommy Smith and John Carlos.
@@felipeb.9321 You didn't even read my comment did you. Take some time and have another go. Nothing you said has anything to do with what I said.
Was Peter Norman’s time so fast because of altitude? Either way, he must have been a freak of a runner if he can go with the Goutster.
I really like his running form, something about it is really satisfying to watch
With Gout Gout, Tebogo, and Knighton (and potentially still Lyles), the 200m could be something special over the next decade. So excited to see!
Trust me 19.31 was his prime
He’s going to be training with Lyles next year. Can’t wait to hear his opinion of him.
As an Australian, I am so excited to see him perform at this level already! A gold medal for Australia in the future Olympics for sure. He is only going to get faster and faster.👍💪🇦🇺
As he grows in strength his start will improve i see a sub 10 and sub 20 next year. Crazy
he needs 2 tenths to break Erriyon Knighton's under-18 record (19.84). seems like he has the talent, it will be fun to watch his progress.
Yup. The next 100m and 200m WR beater has arrived!
That might depend on how he develops physically. Bolt grew into a huge man.
Can't wait for the next Olympics to see him.
That's reaching...has to match Knighton's results at 17 and 18 first, which he probably won't do.
@ What’s reaching is the speculation that he won’t!
The fact is at 16 Gout has broken Bolt’s record and all evidence and Bolt’s past historical progress show that Gout, in all probability would go on to supersede the Great man.
At only 16 years old, he's already great at relaxed running. His form doesn't look tense at all. When you can run relaxed, you will run fast times
Bolt had the tendency of simply going through the motions to win races and never really aimed at breaking records. If Gout Gout concentrates on finishing well all the time, he's likely to break all of Bolts records.
From Bolt to Gout!
Go boy! The sky is the limit.
so much insane talent in the track and field world. This kid has some insane top end speed.
His parents have said his name Gout Gout is abit lost in translation when they came to Australia and is pronounced like Gu-ot lets respect this future legend and call him what he and his family wishes
Love this guy's running action- especially in the 100...
daim boy ! erryion with a 19,84 as a 17 year old is crazy. goes to show that crazy historical talent doesnt always mean that you end up on top as a pro
@@qbassie9764 the right drugs and he will, thats the key to all world sprinters, not being busted.
Knighton also popped for trenbolone…
Fantastic runs in the 100 & 200 - the kid's a future star if he stays committed to the sport & doesn't get any big injuries along the way.
Haters gonna hate. I can see this kid doing it all. It’s only his start where he is lacking. Top end speed is off the Richter scale already.
Whoever chose that photo as the thumbnail knew exactly what they were doing.
He has all the hallmarks of Bolt.

Yes, he is Australian (born here!)
Yes, Aussie accent too.
Hairline of a 40 year old!
Damn, Gout-Gout! We will definitely be hearing tons from him in the future…he’s been on fire and only getting better!
It’s a pity is not around to have seen his record broken and I have a feeling he would be stoked by watching this kid run.
Sudanese australian. Not somali
Thanks for sharing this story.
What a bunch of AOC kents
I think you should edit your comment again to correct it. He is of Sudanese origin, not Somali.
He’s smashing gout right out of everyone’s knees ankles elbows 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Bro the dude covers 100m only 42 strides 💀!
10.29 at 16....Knighton also did that and he'll be 21 soon ....has never been a factor in the 100.
We shall see.
@@efisgpr who did 10:29 at 16? oh that was beginning of the yr for Gout Gout, Gout Gout as the videoshows just did a 20.04 at 16 ( and still is 16).
@@efisgprHe ran a wind assisted 10.04 at 16.

I'm excited to see what this young man has in store for us. Godspeed Gout
Three interesting facts
1. Peter Norman is famous for the black power podium photograph
2. That tiny stadium Gout Gout ran in is currently scheduled to be the main stadium for Brisbane Olympics 2032 lol
Protect this kid at all cost bruh ❤
@@colincolenso Just needed confirmation as I don't know how much altitude assists. Thanks for the detailed answer.

No human can sprint at top speed for 400m, so it is a much more tactical type of race and endurance already plays a much bigger part in it.
I agree that the 200 + 400 combo should be his go. I don't think he'll ever be able to mix it with the top 100m sprinters because of his quite poor starts and the time it takes him to wind up to full speed.
