Thanks for the review ! Helpful. We need to do a better job on audio for POV. Sent this to our audio engineers :) One thing that's helpful is in the GoPro app you can "unwarp" hyperview to either a superwide linear or regular undistorted wide if you're an app user (soon for desktop app too!), or in premiere use FX Reframe to unwarp Hyperview and copy over your max settings to get something similar. That's what I'll be doing with my POV content. I should make a tutorial !
Thanks Abe! We could all benefit from a tutorial from you 🙌🏽🙌🏽 I was super impressed with max hyperview and definitely need to mess around with the fx reframe more on those clips. Thanks for all you do 🙏🏽
first time really doing a video like this and it was fun! wasn't a totally perfect comparison as I don't have a true side-by-side rig, but hopefully this provided some insight on the different FOVs you can get with some of the main wide angle modes! would be happy to try and answer any other Q's this video might have sparked. so much more info regarding all of this stuff - coulda been a 1hr video!

@bobdowd3211 hey bob. i use GoPro Player to render out the 360 files to a usable .mp4 format. then, i bring everything into adobe premiere pro and use the "fx reframe" plugin for adobe premiere to do all of my reframing that i was doing at the end of the video. so, to answer your question - when i was rotating the video in premiere, i was using a plugin that was built for the gopro max and adobe premire. hope this made sense.

You gave me much needed help in trying to narrow down my choice. Please give me your input on which one to choose from. I run a car club and we travel through the mountains but no one films our cruises. These things aren't cheap, so I want to make the best choice from the start. We do day trips only and they last about 2 hours max. I'd like to be able to film the cars in front of me and behind me simultaneously(if possible). It would be great if there was an outside mount that could rotate but that might be wishful thinking. I just don't know what to do but I've narrowed all of it to these 2 choices you presented. Please give me you thoughts!
This was awesome. I really want to see a full video on your editing workflow!! I have a Hero 11 but wish I would have gone for the Max. Thanks Dan! I should do an editing video it just seems like it would be so long haha. The max 2 is definitely gonna be a beast so just up to you but I think the max is still great. I’ve never tried the chest mount but I am always taking my camera off my helmet before each run to ensure it’s set properly. I take a lot of time to film haha
Trouble I have with a chest mount is that my hands are so prominent in the shot. I’ve had a few days with chest mount where I’m disappointed by footage since the hands are so distracting!
Great video man. As a production minded snowboarder who’s always struggled with making GoPro content look good I really enjoy the behind the scenes. Camera settings, color grading, editing, etc. kind of niche but would love to see more.
Currently rocking a Hero 10 and making it work, but for my money, that Hero 12 + MLM 2.0 + ability to use an ND is looking awesome! I personally really loved the hyperview + nd but it sucks that it doesn't control the exposure so the footage in the shade isn't the best. Is there anyway to get that similar, immersive footage using the gopro max? (I don't really know how it would be possible but I'm planning on buying an action camera for this upcoming season)
You could still have the exposure controlled if you set the shutter to auto and increased the iso max to something like 400! Locking the shutter at a specific speed like I did there will make it so I am guaranteed the correct motion blur, but if you still wanted the auto control that the GoPro gives - you could slap the ND filter on and leave the shutter at auto!
The max lens mod on the hero 10 won’t be as wide as something like hyperview that I showed in the video, but definitely your best option for the hero 10!
For sure but hero10 is fine for me, I don't want to spend money on hero 12. For me POV shots are most important, thats why I asked about max lens. Do u think in my case it’s worth to wait for gopro max 2.0?
Love this content Lucas! May have missed this, but did you have horizon lock on for your hero 12 + MLM? Was just reading that stability may be worse with horizon lock on. I have had it on so far and no issue
Its too bad you cant get the ND filter on top of the max lens mod because the FOV really is miles better. I have a hero 7 that i barely use at this point just cuz its so annoying trying to get a good angle, half the time i do a run the frame is completely off. It does ok with rhe chin mount on my full face mtb helmet but 360 cameras really are a step above when mounted on top
It's very important to make videos like this. Loved it! I have a question if I want to make videos for myself and my family what gopro should I buy? Hyped for tomorrows video!
Question about the GoPro Max setting: How can you have 5.3k resolution and HYPERSMOTH ON? Cant find hypersmoth when Im not in "Hero Mode". Would be really happy if someone tell me how to turn on Hypersmoth with high resolution (5.3K)
Is it just me or did him putting on the ND32 filter to the Hero 12+ drastically cut down the wind noise? Anyone else notice that? Or am I just loosing my mind? Most likely the latter! 👊🏼
Am I alone in thinking the new hero12 shots looked blurry? I’m casting to my 65” tv and it just looks a bit off to me compared to all previous episodes.
@@LucasCatania17 i dont know if blurry is the right term, but like digitized instead of real, something just a little bit off. i watched another skier posted video of this alien cam he was using, and he looked like a video game character to me, not a real person. that was the feeling i had watching the hero12 footage. just my 2 cents. love the channel, watch daily, counting down the days til my colorado and tahoe trips this winter.

Question about the GoPro Max setting: How can you have 5.3k resolution and HYPERSMOTH ON? Cant find hypersmoth when Im not in "Hero Mode". Would be really happy if someone tell me how to turn on Hypersmoth with high resolution (5.3K)
You are correct. If you are in 360 mode, there is no hypersmooth option. It is just automatically enabled. That is my mistake
Excellent video, highly informative. Just what you want from a review! Thanks bud!
Is it just me or did him putting on the ND32 filter to the Hero 12+ drastically cut down the wind noise? Anyone else notice that? Or am I just loosing my mind? Most likely the latter! 👊🏼
You like horizon lock or no?
I don’t really like horizon lock for skiing but it definitely has its uses!
The only thing I noticed between the 2 was that the wind noise was louder on the 2nd camera..
I didn't really notice anything with that ND filter
The max lens mod 2.0 seamed pretty cool
the ND filter produces motion blur. look closely at the snow and ground around me
@@LucasCatania17 thank you.. your eyes are trained and mine aren't.. i am gonna check out your Vail video and we can compare notes to my BRECK day..
Am I alone in thinking the new hero12 shots looked blurry? I’m casting to my 65” tv and it just looks a bit off to me compared to all previous episodes.
interesting! looked good on my end!
Damn I wish I saw this before 😂😂😂 I’m about to go on my trip
Such a helpful video. I’ve been planning to get the 12 and was debating about the mod upgrade lens. Your video was so perfectly timed since I had not pulled the trigger on buying it yet and will do it this weekend. GoPro should send you some commissions :)
if you get the 12, i absolutely recommend the MLM2.0! and haha i dunno if i did the best job tbh but my intentions were pure.
Bro i learned soo much with this vid thank you
Love this. Great job!
Thanks man!
Very interesting video. I feel like with the 360 camera could make up for a lot of my poor camera work.
I also like the idea that I could make 2 separate videos of my kids on the same run.
yeah it sdefinitely a forgiving camera!
MAX GoPro pleaseeeee. 🥴
Yessssir
Where you shredding at?
Keystone!!
This was filmed at keystone in Colorado
These GoPro info videos are great.
Am I seeing things or did the MLM darken up the footage a bit? Does it have a bit of tint to it, almost like a mini-ND?
Because we are putting a different glass in front of the sensor, there could be color shifts or other things. I find it looks a lot sharper!
@@LucasCatania17 I thought the same thing, and I'm wondering if it darkened it up enough to bring in the motion blur like you can with the ND filter... Have you ever manually set the shutter speed for it?
Was ski patrol yelling at yall coming through there? Couldn’t understand what he was saying
No they were talking to each other that they should put another patroller at the top of the hill
@@LucasCatania17 oh ok that’s good lol I was gonna say! if they were yelling at yall then they shoulda put someone further up cuz they weren’t visible enough.
Thanks!
Great video!
Thanks man!
Have a great weekend! 🤟🏼
Likewise bro!
Go pro max 👌🏾
So good 🙌🏽
Hero 12 felt a little too zoomed in too me.
yeah agree
Switching to this account. 👍

Sup bob!
Steez Catania
😂😂
So dope
Thanks Chris!
I just don’t want to buy a GoPro Max because I know the max two is coming out.
The max 2 is gonna be sick
gpro 12 + lens looks better
Yo
sup
So in conclusion
GoPro Max or Insta 360 >>>>>> Any GoPro / DJI standard camera
But if you want smaller file sizes
GoPro 12 + Max Mod 2.0 is better
That’s one way to put it!
Recording in portrait mode is a mortal sin
For me Hyperview is sooo bad, the distortion is ridiculous, it makes the image look like a low quality cam
Nothing compare with gopro Max
Yeww
Yew!
#gopromaxforlife
love my max!
Damn how did this get to 224K likes already!
Nah bro why did it say 224k…💀
😂😂
Oh hell nah that said 224k! Lol I’m rolling on the floor right now bro!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤨
Phenomenal comparison and editing video📷 I did like the Max the best as well... ⛷ Enjoy Vail ❄
Thanks Mike! Glad you liked it!
