@@MichaelRei99 Yeah, I should have guessed. The spot looked very different from the video, all the green is gone so it must've been a while ago at least. I did see some tire tracks around there, so maybe someone was just a little faster than me.

Love to see you visiting my neck of the woods. 49 yrs young now. I lived in NYC all my life and always had a bike by my side. When my friends and i were younger, we basically did all five boros 5 days a week. It's been a while since I rode my bike, which needs some maintenance hasn't been touched in over a year. I saw you go through some iconic places. I know you didn't have much time, but you missed great places like riverside , Van cortlandt bike trail trough yonkers, Riverdale and also Further Up , East River Drive ... the ride to Orchard Beach and City Island is wonderful. And a lot more areas. But thanks for coming out here. This city is hectic to ride, but you won't experience anything like it anywhere else

i am enjoying your city biking series immensely as a city biker (I call it urban XC), urban planner, and infrastructure program manager. I think that I would love to hear about what you enjoyed the most (and least) about and while biking each of the cities. The bike theft is the thing that worries me the most (even in my own city)....how can you truly enjoy a new city by bike if you can't leave it locked somewhere for very long? I also have a hard time fitting on a rented or city bike, which also diminishes the experiences. Overall, great series!

We spent a week in NYC and I can't imagine trying to own or use a car there either. Some things, like getting groceries, would require a change from how we do in central Texas 'burbs but bike and metro gives you all 5 boroughs with ease. I'm always a bit jealous of the functional and supported public transportation & bike-ability in other parts of the world. On the upside; San Antonio's green way is great and even offers dozens of miles of XC trails.

I was in NYC in 2013 with my mum and we rented bikes as well. Back then I wasn't cycling at home at all so it was pretty much a crackpot idea... 🤐
We stayed in Long Island City close to Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge, cycled over it, went up to 97th-ish street, crossed over to Central Park, went down to Columbus Circle, then towards the Hudson River, all the way down to Battery Park and close to the East River back to the Queensboro Bridge. All in all about 35 km (21 miles in weird measurement 😜), but we were there in late April so we had a good amount of daylight and we weren't in a hurry to get to places. Apart from the part at the Hudson River there were pretty much no bike lanes so it's good to see protected-ish bike lanes, even though two-way lanes on only one side of one-way streets don't make sense to me.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions! Seth, you are truly a mensch. Thank you for gracing NYC with one of your awesome ride videos. Furthermore, thank you for donating that camera to someone who paid attention to your videos. After seeing that your video had been posted 2 hours ago, I rushed over to the precise spot where you had hidden the camera. I grew up in this neighborhood and that spot was immediately recognizable to me. Upon arrival, I was greeted by Miguel, a professional chef on a sweet burgundy Trek road bike who had been scouring the area. I quickly realized as we frantically beat around the bushes that leaves had been on the bushes when the video was shot, now the bushes were barren, and the ground was much drier in the video than it was when I arrived; so the video must have been shot at least a week or more ago. Then I got a NY gift on the bottom side of my right cycling shoe from one of the many inconsiderate NYC dog owners; and this was a large, very tacky gift that overflowed out either side of my entire heel!
I recognized the root that was featured behind the hole and saw that much more leaves had fallen on top of the rat hole the camera had been placed inside of. Either someone had dug another hole next to the original rat hole, or the rats had long since eaten the camera. Either way, Miguel and I had missed the camera, but others had been there and uncovered all the leaves from the hiding spot.
Thank you Seth for all the great content and for your generous giveaways. Unfortunately in this case I was left holding the sh*t end of the stick. Keep the rubber side down y'all.
