A truly professional display of talent and product. I am some proud of the staff Shane has surrounded himself with.
Canopus Limited Edition 1ply Beech 👌👌👌👌
This is the best gear reviewing channel of them all. You guys are so passionate and I'm a proud customer.
I remeber visiting Ron Dunnett in Delta, BC to replace some hoops on my George Way walnut snare. I asked him what he had been up to and he shows me the fiberglass shell for the Milestone brand. I was skeptical of its durabilty and without hesitation Ron pulls out a 5B and starts profusely beating the Sh*t out of it, hands me the shell without any noticeable damage and asks me what I thought about it now? Ill never forget that moment 😂
Put Max on more. Has a groove, man. Mapex is the dark horse. Give Nate more coffee!
Holy Crap! It was actually 5 years ago this month that I bought my 14x6.5 Ludwig LM402 hand-hammered with tube lugs FROM BARRETT! It was between this drum, a Tama Stewart Copeland signature snare, and 1 other one that I don't remember. I bought the one I don't remember, drove to where I was staying (about an hour away), and tried it out for a day or 2. I was feeling some remorse, so I drove back to the store. Barrett let me exchange it (I paid the difference in price, of course) for the LM402. It's been my number 1 snare ever since. I'd like to think I somehow influenced your pick for this video. I'm sure you don't remember someone who traveled from Ohio with his wife to buy a snare 5 years ago, but subliminally, I know it's my love for the snare you're feeling.
... Probably the other way around that you influenced my purchase. Anyway, thank you, Barrett!
That 1 ply Canopus sounds like a low and high snare played together!
"Shane: Owns The Store." Yes. Yes, he does. Great job with the video as always, and good to see some of the other employees at DCP getting some air time.
All sounded great, but you never can’t go wrong with the Ludwig! Just love that sound. 😊
Le DW satin brass sonne vraiment bien
NEVER anything but TOP NOTCH!! DCP 💯🥁
canopus 1 ply beech is my favorite.
I LOVE the sound of that 1 ply beech.
Nate wins my vote with the Canopus ‘the hammered’ bronze snare. Nicely done, bro!
In a close second, Tony with the Joyful Noise snare. 🤘🏽I’m highly impressed with that beautiful creation.
In third, Tom (as James) playing the Milestone Reserve snare.
The N&C Horizon kit sounds great however, I wasn’t as big a fan of the walnut snare. Interestingly, I own one of them as well. At a price tag of $1200 Canadian, I would suggest other options over it.
That Milestone Fiberglass sounds incredible!
These all sounded amazing! Really speaks to how good every staff member is at just being a drummer 😂
Canopus and N&C won my ears, but all snares demonstrated are exquisite, very nice variety of choices.
Joyful Noise!!!
Glad I was able to find the channel again 😊🤘🏾
Tough call, I'm split between the Canopus 1-Ply Beech and the N&C SS Classic Walnut. I'm a sucker for a single ply shell. Great video guys, well done.
Shane!... that KEP!!! Stunning!!! ❤️
I gotta say I loved the joyful noise Tony was playing. followed by the Keplinger. Great video guys as always!!
Thanks as always!
Hello Gentlemen. Fantastic Playing. My favorite is the N&C solid walnut, with the Milestone 2nd. Thank You DCP for another Great Video.
👏 Superb video as always guys! 👏 My top three snare-picks are, surprisingly, 3. Barrett (Ludwig LM402KT) 2. Tony (JN Knight Hawk) 1. Shane (Keplinger Stainless). Barrett gets extra points for the Sabbath shirt too btw. 🤘🙂 Rock on guys!
Thank you and great choices!
And Yes folks the Award goes to Tony for very smoothly sliding in one of the highest priced drums! That aside, Joyful Noise is a prize drum to own and that drum is a beauty. I will have to wait for hitting the lottery though. Jeremy: Talk to us another time about tuning the N&C and Canopus Snare drums. I love both and I owned a N&C Solid Shell Cherry decades ago, but that tuning is 'the dagger' for me not to buy another single lug drum.I eventually had to drill out the tension rod holes on the die cast hoops. I know that's sacrilege, but the tension rods will not align without doing top and bottom head tuning together. That's a deal breaker for my patience level.
They all sound great but The Keplinger and the Ludwig Lm402KT were my favs.
The Canopus Hammered Bronze is just sexy...deep dark tone but, pinpoint precise attack. "Just an all around nice drum that I would play any day at any gig" - Well said brother, well said.
Just bought a knighthawk a few months ago. So good. Couldn’t recommend them enough.
that starphonic is amazing, I have it on my kit and i love it
The Noble & Cooley for me! Has a really nice "crack" to it. I would go thinner though, I love the 14 x 3.875 inch Solid Shell Classic Series :P
Tony!... That joyful noise knight hawk!!! Need me one of those! 😍
That you do, Anthony!
The 500th like is for me !!! 😎 Awesome video, as per usual !!!
Awesome! Thank you!
The Ludwig LM 402KT 14x6.5 and the Tama Starphonic Copper 14x7 are the big winners for my ears !!! The Canopus models are huge too !!! 💣🧐💫
John number 1 with the Canopus 1-ply Beech, beautiful sound!!
That NC bass drum!!!!
(Adam v neck enthusiast 😂😂😂)
(It's ludVig btw 😉😉🤣🤣🤣)
Man! Yet another amazing video. Your UA-cam content is just fantastic. Awesome guys 🙌🏻
Thanks as always!!!
Nate had some sick ghost note phrasing.
Wowww that Canopus was a so snappy
My favorite was the DW Brass one. Dark, warm and controlled! Great playing by Tom as well.
Great demo's guys! Always appreciate your vids!
Glad you like them!
So many snare drums, so little time. I wish I was younger.
totally cool. the hearbeaker is by far the best. you can tell it encapsulates the drummer and the attack!
Working at DCP seems like a dream come true. Appreciate all the quality videos you guys put out!
It's pretty great, thank you for the support!
That Ludwig Supraphonic Hammered Snare sounded INSANE!!
I played one years ago, and I still can't forget it.
Damn that kit sounds amazing
My favorite was the Joyful noise Nighthawk.
Great content guys.
Nate ain’t messin about!
Thanks and no he ain't!
7:24 : V-neck Enthusiast. Now that is a great position to put on your resume.
Wood: Mapex Heartbreaker, Metal: Tama Starphonic Copper - superb snares!! Not usually a fan of acrylic or fiberglass drums but that Milestone was nice.
...for me, Kepplinger 14x8 sounds the best, cheers from Germany.
12:10 the best part
@ 4:00 min mark. The Tea Party (Temptation) !!!
Jeff Burrows 🤘🏽🤘🏽🥁
Funny you mentioned how tastes can change over time. I think my ears are starting to change. The nickel-over-brass and other mixed metals have really grown on me. Plus, really cool job featuring some of the lesser known brands and materials.
Awesome guys! All great snares! Shane always seems to bring the magic 😀🤘🤘 Rock on guys!
Really liked the Milestone fiberglass! Joyful Noise steel and DW black satin brass also very nice. Canopus elm also great, but I think the Milestone was my gut favorite. Great video, gentlemen.
Great video - that Milestone was surprising!
Thank you and TOTALLY!
I think Ronn could make a beautiful drum out of any material.
@@jamesdennett196 As an owner of 3 snares and 2 kits he's made (Dunnett and George Way) I think you're right. He makes incredibly musical and versatile snares.
@@AdamStachelek I was thinking that he's no stranger to your 'Best Snares of....' lists, with Dunnett and the George Way brand, but that he gets an acrylic snare amongst this company, with the Milestone brand too??? He is a master. A marvel.
@@AdamStachelek And it was the choice of TWO guys.
V-Neck Enthusiast. 🤣🤣🤣
Tom as always the most tasteful player in the shop.
The best snare drum is STILL the one in the outro. I vote that one. I _need_ to know what it is...
Dunnett stainless steel 14x6.5
All sounded good. I liked fiberglass, & solid ply.
I’m admittedly bias because I own both, but the Joyful Noise and copper Starphonic sounded the best to me.
They all sounded great! But I LOVED the Mapex the Ludwig and the Ahead!
I'm here for those hi-hats
I just love that Tama copper.
Also I'd love to see a video on how you mic and mix drums for these reviews, everything always sounds fantastic; as a listener I can really pick out the details and differences in the comparisons.
Thanks so much!!
Wow. Very cool guys.
I love the N&C Walnut, the Canopus Hammered and was really surprised by the very cool Mapex heartbreaker. Given the price, that’s probably the one to get.
Cheers!
You are all so entertaining! Nicely done! Those are all some incredible snares! How am I suppose to choose!? lol
Thanks so much and yeah it is hard to choose!
Love the beech snare
I dig all the snares in this one but that Mapex Heartbraker... it just sounds so amazing for its price And has got good looks too
they are all perfect
The Joyful Noise is my choice .
My fave were the Canopus Beech #1) then the Ahead, then the Joyful Noise.
Yeah, I’m only at the Canopus right now, but it sounds incredible. Seems like a snare Jimmy Chamberlain would love to play..
You guys put out some fantastic content that helps prospective buyers. Lots of good Snare drums in this video.
Adam introducing himself in the third person was the most Adam thing ever.
really liked the canopus solid shell had a woody tone but had some crack and projected well. keep up the videos.
Another great video, and some amazing drums! I liked the Canopus 1-Ply Beech and the Noble & Cooley Solid Shell Walnut. I've played that Canopus in the shop, and it's amazing!
Just happened to listen to this video again and I still love DW❤
For me the Mapex Heartbreaker sounded incredible and probably costs half as much as all the others.
Same! Jayme was the most charimastic to me anyway 😂
@@Ashlord He was awesome with our 2.5 year old on Saturday. Really sweet!
Supra for sure is #1. The Mapex #2.
1. Tama Starphonic Copper (in my wishlist for a few years); 2. N&C Walnut; 3. Canopus 1-ply Beech.
Great video as always, but it's too sad nobody plays open handed. 😉
nice speedmaster
This was a fun watch! Thanks guys, nice range of gear!
Side note: the kit was well chosen. N&C are absolute beauties ❤️
Thanks for watching and agreed!
Amazing video, you guys rule. Shane’s kep is the best sounding and also like a gym membership in load in 💪🏼
Well Because Greg Keplinger is a good friend and a great man and drum engineer I'll go with his drum no cheap parts on any of his stuff he's all about Quality and durability with great sound he's a great guy I love to pick his brain on the things he's working on thanks for a great video Peace bros don't break no cymbals now lol that's Greg's monster broken cymbals cut into designs that have different sounds lol
I have to go with Shane's Keplinger. Although I also really enjoyed Tony's Joyful noise. Very unique finish!
And I was surprised by the Mapex: good sound and excellent cross stick.
You guys rock. I always try to buy my drum gear from DCOP.
Thank you!!!
WOW.... I'm glad I don't have pick one. the Mapex was awesome, they have come a long ways, N&C, what can you say... that drum could fit anywhere.
Keplinger sound Insane!
Canopus HH Bronze an easy #1 for me. #2 was easy too, Tony's Knight Hawk. Wow what a snare, can't wait for the full review.
My favorite was the Milestone, then the Noble & Cooley snares.
Well all the drums sounded great, so please don’t vote anyone out of the store - 🤣🤣.
I thought Tony’s was going to choose the Keplinger Black Iron, but I had forgotten about the Joyful Noise Night Hawk, which sounds as great as it looks!! So it’s a toss up for me between that one and the Stainless Steele Keplinger that Shane played!
See y’all in a couple days with my next shopping list - curse you but not really!! 😜🫶
Well, Shane picked a Kep and I have been loving the JN lately. You know how I feel about my black iron though…
@@tinterlande Yeah, I think you only saw part of my comments. It was tough to decide as my faves were yours (and the vid did not do your finish justice) and Shane’s.
Great video! Keplinger and Canopus Hammered Bronze
The Ludwig, Joyful Noise, and Mapex
The Kepy is rad🎉
The NC surprised me, the joyful noise intrigued me, but the keplinger,, I want that one.
The “James” part 😂
That Mapex is righteous!
The Milestone sounds really nice
LM402 and starphonic copper for me 🤟
Shane brought one I didn't know about. #kudos
The sq2 in the background looks sooo good
Quite remarkable all you blue eyed drummers all living in the same state, the same city, and exactly working for the same company at the exact same time.
How could this have happened 😂😂😂
I'm still blown away that you guys aren't over 100k subscribers yet. I share your your content with every drummer I know. So, I'm trying to do my part ;-) Great content, great production and you all appear to be very good people. Continued success, guys! Oh... and you guys all have great chops. I especially love watching Tony and Tom. Great stuff!!!
This is very much appreciated. Thank you!
