    so keto is ideal for optimizing dopamine levels? why do i always feel depressed without carbs then. serotonin?

      That's a complex topic. Keto affects many neurotransmitters. First, it does lower serotonin. And while it gives you the material to produce dopamine, it doesn't necessarily lead to a greater production. Keto tends to increase adrenaline levels. Adrenaline is made from the conversion of noradrenaline which is itself make from the conversion of dopamine. So while a keto diet gives you the material to make dopamine, it can actually low because it's used upstream to make adrenaline.

      ​@@THIBARMY wow, great stuff. Thanks for that. Historically I've often felt best with a carb backloading type eating strategy but never knew why (until now). I feel alert and empowered throughout the day, similar to when fasting.
