Such a class guy and the best defensive shortstop I've ever seen. When you follow a team on a daily basis you grow attached to certain players, especially ones that have been on the team for a long time. No matter where Ahmed winds up, I'll always be a fan.

He’s such a good dude. It’s definitely tough to see a decision like this happen to a good person but, it had to happen for a team trying to make the playoffs. Hope we see him here as a coach some day.

Went to high school in east Longmeadow ma with him few grads younger but you could not find one person to say a bad thing about him. Watching him in high school when I was a freshman was incredible . He was also an amazing pitcher best I have ever watched in a high school game .

Great teammate. Great ball player. On top of all that he’s a great and respectable human being. His teammates were lucky to have all those things in the dugout throughout his career

It was the right choice to move on and go with lawler but it hurts Bc he is a great person and was a good player for this team for a long time

Just checking in. Pretty sure Lawler has had like 10 at-bats and didn’t make the opening day roster. Absolutely NOT the right decision, and I could have told you that 6 months ago.

Congrats on your major league time, may it continue first as a player, then a coach. I went to your HS playoff games as lived in your home town for a while, was thrilled when you went to my home state school, UConn and helped put UConn firmly on the national baseball map. I cheered the two gold gloves, and times your bat heated up. You are a class act, Nick. Best wishes.

I'm gonna miss the guy. Hate to see him go the way he did. Maybe he finds his way back to the organization in some form or another. Possibly as a coach. But if not, I hope for the best for him.

Management effed up on this one. Best defensive shortstop ever. Feels like jealousy. I'm a longtime snakes fan. Not anymore. Fire Hazen and Lovullo. Absolutely heartless human beings.

Bottom line, its a results business. ANY player that is batting .212, should NOT be in the Majors. Thanks for the 10 years Nick, now go live a happy and productive life with all the millions of dollars you have made through out your career. You will be just fine.
