speaking as a neutral I want to thank both sets of commentators here for making Reds and Cardinals games so much more enjoyable. I really sensed both sets loved the game and it showed all of the regular season, compliments to you all from Auckland, NZ.

congratulations to the Reds. even though they missed the playoffs, they turned from one of the most boring into one of the most fascinating and interesting teams in the MLB this year. The future should be bright in Ohio.

Starting pitching is not good. The Reds need better athletes in the outfield.
they obviously still have flaws (they would have made it to the postseason if they hadn't), but they are exciting to watch nonetheless

You had a good run, though, Reds. Just come out string next year. That team is entertaining.
19 runs one game, allowing 15 runs the next. Reds were never in this one. The Reds can thank a below .500 home record overall for missing postseason. Allowing rival Pittsburgh to seal the deal pretty much including blowing a 9-1 lead. Starting a rookie pitcher last night didn't help matters either Bell. Strange that David Bell gets a contract extension during the season and hasn't really done anything yet. GM Krall gets promoted. Players made this season, not these two stooges. The bullpen wore out. I can't deny the improvement that group made and their overall impact on the season. No one dreamed Diaz would have the saves total he had. He is worn out too though. Some key injuries, some potentially dumb moved that were contemplated, like trading India, former rookie of the year is a player that De La Cruz isn't. At least not yet. Reds can hit as a team. Bottom line, so can all the other teams. Pitching is what will always matter most. If you are a position player making what guys like Votto, Bryce Harper are making you can strike out four times and your team can STILL win. Can't if the pitching gets torpedoed. Something you should think about before signing another lazy Moose Moustakas type player to guaranteed money. For the success some players exhibited this season that was the result of trade acquisitions there are failures very much mixed into that. The prospect acquisitions for the Reds were positive but many times in the recent past not so positive. In salary dumps of the past some acquisitions no one ever saw at the major league level or very briefly if that. Gone is the salary of Votto, Moustakas, pretty much the Jim Bowden deal with deferred money to Griffey Jr. The books are practically clear now including the BS excuses. The sarcastic attitude of the front office and company toward fans for their responsibility in the destruction of this team. Back to square one. Back to the small market excuses? Back to talent becoming no longer affordable excuses? Watching players develop in Cincinnati pitching and swinging for the fences in other places like NY, Philadelphia, LA, Boston. How long before the "we just can't afford it" excuses show up again? Reds win fans will show up and vice versa if they don't. Bottom line, just missing the playoffs means the same as losing 100 games ultimately. It just doesn't matter. No medals for second place.
The reds were a streaky team this year because the pitching was awful and they swung at way too many bad pitches. They never consistently drew walks
Make Votto your batting coach.
It was a bad season for the Cardinals, but I saw some hope. As a Japanese, I would like to see the Cardinals start over next season with Nootbaar as the lead-off man. Good luck birds!🦜🙌

The yesterday game and then this one are good examples of why I think baseball would actually be good if a Series was cumulative runs for 1 win: If you win 2-1, 3-1, and then lose 0-7 then you lost 5-9; if you win 19-2, lose 6-15, and lose 0-2 you win 25-19.
That would also cure the 'pouring on the runs' argument. Yeah, well you might get a load of runs tomorrow or the next day and I want my TEAM to get the win so make your adjustments. You also will not have 3 teams with 100 loss seasons at the same time b/c you could only lose ALL of the seriei for a total of 73.

Good to see the Reds being eliminated after hearing all the talk from the obnoxious red fans saying how good that team was. The reds stink and it will be more of the same next year. 😂
