They never had a shot at winning the division and there is no reason they will ever dominate the NL west with better franchises like the Dodgers, Giants or the money the Padres will spend. 2024 DBacks are a flash in the pan. What How. They have won 8 out of their last 12. Yes, they fell off, but they made a MASSIVE comback, when they won 6 games in a row, and just won 5 games in a row, and just got to their 80th game won. When Gabriel Moreno plays, they are like 12 games over .500. When he doesn't, they are 12 games UNDER .500 that is a good reason why they are doing good, and since they have 2 great main pitchers, Zac Gallen and Meril Kelly, their starters aren't really bad. Since Tommy Pham is now on the D-Backs, Corbin Carrol is Rookie of the Year, and now their closer, Paul Sewald they have already become a really good team, and are still 2nd in their division, and will most likely end off as 2nd in their division, and they have 2 Gold Glove level players, Christian Walker, and Gabriel Moreno. So I don't think their doing too bad, and the fact that they are in the 2nd Wild Card spot, and they have a chance of getting to the 1st Wild Card spot, I don't think they're TOO worried. But they do have to win most of their games to have a perfect chance of making it into the Playoffs. If you can't tell, I'm a fan of them.

I am a pure SF Giants fan and their current skid was easy to see coming as they almost always have a bad July and August. And with all of the injuries on the offense, it was all but a certainty. I don't think it's as bad as last year but I don't see them pulling out of this until near September if at all. But the good Giants teams always wake up in September.

Hardly a collapse. They were playing way in over their heads and as a young team, the league caught up to and scouted their weaknesses and not surprisingly they bottomed out. The 2012 Pirates were worse. Started 58-42, third best record in the NL on pace for 94 wins with a 2 game lead over Atlanta finishing 21-41 over their final 62 to finish with 79 wins.
I’d love to see a video on then.

The Orioles franchise yawns at these collapses
2002: reached 63-63 in mid August. Finished 4-32.
1986: 2.5 games out in early Aug. Hit 2 grand slams in a game and lose. Finished 14-42.
2005: 4 games up in 1st on Father's Day. Finished in 4th place.
1989: up by 7 games in Aug. Decide that Keith Moreland is the missing piece. Fall behind Toronto in Sept and eliminated in last weekend
These are just what I can think of on no sleep. There are many others.

this team was never a good team and anyone that thought so only understood baseball at a superficial level. they were leading the nl west with an even run differential; they were just extremely lucky in close games. now that luck has run out and they're where they should be - under 500 with a negative run differential. this is just regressing to their talent level.

This is why teams with great leadership like Dodgers, Giants, Cardinals, Red Sox, Yankees etc are historically great.

Yeah my Dbacks were doing good then all of a sudden just typical dbacks. Been a fan since 1998 my dad even took me to the very first dbacks game, and besides maybe the years 1999-2002, 2007, 2017 they have been hard to watch. I miss when jerry colangelo owned them. At least he was aggressive in signing talent. He signed Randy Johnson, traded for schilling and so on. Dbacks ownership now not so much. I still have hope for this team though and hopefully Druw Jones gets healthy in minors and can come play with them in the next few years or so

Thanks for the vid. I'm a Blue Jays fan, and in our fan base, for a lot of the season, there had been lots of envious chatter about how good the Diamondbacks were since we traded Gurriel and Moreno for Varsho. I'd thought a lot of that envy was misplaced, but I didn't foresee the Dbacks collapsing as badly as they did. So, I'd been curious about what was going on over there. It's funny how sports fans think the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Hope the Dbacks can get it together - it's more fun checking in on the NL West when it isn't just dominated by the Dodgers.
