  • Video 2A/B/C explores the “Big Three”, the three most important specs to consider when selecting a cam grind. This is the most tech heavy of the videos, and if you only watch one of the videos, this should be the one.

thank you for being so informative bruce... the biggest thing i tell my customers.... what are you looking to do with your bike... what type of riding do you do etc.... watching these videos has helped me even further explain to them what they would be looking for.

How come bike specs don’t display LSA and overlap like automotive engines?

Bruce great videos, I'm looking at installing your 106 stroker flywheels and boring out my 2006 road king TC 88 to 95", and running gear drive cams, What cam recommendations for 2 up riding, looking more for torque then top end?

MR103 would be the go-to for a loaded touring machine. Torque is going to be your priority.

    Great series.
Informative without relying heavily on technical jargon. I appreciate the lay explanations.
Question: I'm considering running the S&S110 sidewinder kit on my 103 street bob, with the S&S 89" cylinder heads, S&S cam chest plate and oil pump.
Currently, I'm running the HP103 cams. They've been great thus far. Really improved my RPM range, and overall power.
Should I upgrade these cams to a higher lift cam? Or, would this sacrifice my mid and low end power?

The HP103 is a fantastic cam for the job you're doing right now. Bumping to the 110 kit with stock heads will put you on the top end of the compression range for that cam though, and swapping to our 89 heads will push you over the limit on them. Those heads are set up to handle up to .650" lift, so if I were you, I would look to upping the cam as well. If you don't already have all of the parts collected, it sounds like you are a great candidate for our 110" Power Package that comes with our 585 cams. www.sscycle.com/feature/performance-kits/power-package/100-110-power-package-big-twin

      @@SSCycleInc thanks!
So, the 585 cam would be a good fit for the larger 89"S&S heads and 110 kit? Would going any higher cam wise, sacrifice torque for power in your opinion?
I've already got the tappets, pushrods, and lifters.
To recap I'm considering the 110" big bore cylinders with the 89"cc cylinder heads for the stock crankshaft on a 103.
I'm between the 585 and 625. Chain drive cams.
      Thanks for your guidance.

Hello so I have a 14 Street glide special 103 with SE air intake / V&H true daul headers / Boneshakers exhaust / iam looking into getting the Mr109 would this be a good match thanks

I believe you are looking at the MR103 cam, that would be a great combination for your application. The MR103 is a 585 lift but opens and closes the valve at different times than our standard 585 which allows the bike to produce more torque at the Mid-range RPMs (where most riders spend their time).

Hi Bruce. I have a stock 2007 96 cube softail with only the stage 1 upgrede . I have chosen the mr 103 but have been told it is not suited due to the compression ratio of the 96 cube. Could you please confirm it’s suitability . Cheers Jeff

    • @SSCycleInc
      @SSCycleInc  3 роки тому

The MR103s are compatible up to 10.5:1 compression, your stock ration should be close to 9.2:1, so the compression should not be a problem.
