- firstly, im nervous to post this tbh... it's not my normal type of video, and I don't want it to come off the wrong way. But I really wanted to use this outlet I have to share something I can talk passionately about. These past 5 or 6 months of my life have drastically changed everything about my daily life and I'm here to talk about my experience behind camera and what has led me to this point. While there's definitely been challenging parts, I wouldn't change anything because I have learned so much and I'm so happy to have the community that I've build thus far. Halfway through I wondered why I was watching this video, I don’t have the burning passion to be a influencer like you, but I realized I was watching because it was you. Your videos are so incredibly engaging and the way you talk abt these things makes me want to sit down and watch this. Some people do watch influencers for their content and not for who they are but I believe that almost everyone who enjoys what you do loves it because it’s coming from you😭😭
DAMNN i gotta say you are extremely relatable. I desperately wanted to be a youtuber when i was younger. I didn’t care about school at all and seeing people my age (or younger) being successful at doing youtube also made me extremely jealous. Plus i didn’t really grow up with a lot of money and seeing youtubers with expensive items made me feel terrible too. Everything you said about not being “interesting and not having the right personality” is basically the reason i never even tried becoming a youtuber. I gotta say, I don’t really know what im gonna do with my life… i guess we’ll see where life leads me😭😭 And i also want to say that i love the fact you’re VERY OPEN about these things, i don’t even feel like im watching a video, i feel like im your friend and sitting in your living room talking to you loll

If i’m being completely honest, I did originally find your channel bc of the whole “living in Japan” thing and was interested. But after that first video, I knew you was finna be my favorite UA-camr/tiktoker 😭. After that, I began watching you for your wonderful personality (and still do). I hate to hear about the impostor syndrome, and want you to know that you are doing so well, and thousands of people are proud of your hard work. Hi. For me, authenticity is the key. I follow you because you're real - never fake. Your personality is you from your heart. Today, we're surrounded by so much fake everything that it's hard to know where to turn for a decent response and consistency. Yes, of course you do change. But you change because of your experiences and feedback from people, that are important to you. Not because someone bought your "soul."

Ryan, even me as an influencer, we haven’t been doing this for even a year yet! It’s true we gotta be patience and be willing to work for no investment until one day we’ll see our investments. There's a lot of "influencers" in Japan right now, like really a lot, so for you to blow up like that says something. I started following you because of Japan but stayed because of you. Also I feel like it's okay for you to stop and think about stuff, not everyone is automatic and speaks 24/7 and that's okay. Not everyone is the same

that’s crazy how your peers are getting brand deals and you’re not, even if it’s a different niche etc. being a content creator is still new so i wish everyone could be more open about it! the more money creators make means the more brands will invest and the creator economy grows as welll 😭

This is so relatable ❤ I just moved to Japan in the beginning of May. I have already spent the last year working on my UA-cam full time and not seeing massive results. My “niche” is beauty/make up and I’ve been struggling so much with how to incorporate Japan with that. I’m only here for a year and I realise being in such a beautiful, interesting country is such an amazing opportunity not only for myself but for my content. That being said I can’t centre my entire content around Japan because I’ll lose all my viewers when I go home to the Uk next year. It’s something that I am still struggling with and like Ryan said I love content creation, it’s something I’m so passionate about. Thank you Ryan for putting my feelings into words ❤

Hi Ryan, I know you will probably never read this, but I just wanted to let you know that even if most of your followers started to watch your videos because of the fact that you live in Japan, afterwards it becomes pleasant to watch your videos not only because of your contente but also because of YOU. As a personal experience it is so relaxing listening to you talking or complaining about things, it literally boosts everybody’s humor and gives a smile on our faces. i don't really make content myself but it's something i've wanted to do since i was young too. it's hard not to get discouraged especially when you realize that a lot of streamers you might recognize now have actually been streaming for 3+ years... and the same goes for youtubers
as a perfectionist it kills me when i work so hard to make something only to get disappointed with the feedback, then i end up pinning it on me not doing good enough. then when i do well i get extremely anxious thinking about how i could possibly top my best. it seems so stressful but i imagine every content creator has similar struggles and that they just end up finding their own ways to cope. i cant even stand looking at my likes and followers on social media sometimes because it bothers me so much, so i purposefully dont look at numbers anymore so i dont equate specific things i post to the amount of engagement i get (even though that is kinda true)

Ryan personally your first TikTok that I watched was about an outfit you were questioning. I didn't realize until later you were in Japan. Regardless or your location or your looks, i watch your content because of you. You have a certain charisma that is very appealing. Don't doubt yourself. And I LOVE Dote!

I think you are being too hard on yourself. For me personally your personality is one of the main reasons I follow you. I’m really into Japan at the minute and hope to visit so I’ve been watching various UA-camrs. There are so many I could watch but I chose you. This should tell you something. I love your honesty especially when you are not feeling up to filming or struggling with anxiety or so tired because I can relate to feeling these things myself. Also you are so bloody funny! I’ve watched a few people from startup and one thing they have in common is imposter syndrome! Just be yourself and the rest will follow. New opportunities will show there self over time. If your are having a tough time or struggling with anything there’s plenty of us out here to pick you up and brush you off. You’ve got this ❤

I’m a micro influencer on instagram. What I’ve learned, growing my audience by myself and doing all of my own promo and cold calling companies for brand deals - it doesn’t matter how many followers you have. As you said, having a lot of followers and high engagement is awesome, but the real money comes from sponsorships, and the way you get sponsorships is dialing in your niche (and making good, consistent content etc). That’s exactly why some creators don’t have as big of a following but they make good money. They’ve figured out their niche, and that’s what brands want.
I first started following you after the video of you living in your other house and like bumping your head upstairs or sum idk but after that I became very interested in your videos cus you talked about Japan and I always wanted to go to Japan and knowing you did this while ur so young is very impressive! It’s something that makes you you cus you don’t see a lot of people so young moving to another country BY THEMSELVES! So I just wanted to say that I always enjoyed your videos in Japan. It’s just so cool!
