Great bike! I have a 2020 XR, so I'm a bit biased. You can set the electronics for no wheelie, little wheelie, or OH CRAP!--where it will lift the front wheel mid corner when you get on the throttle a little early. Yes, let's see a touring/track day vid!
I've owned tons of BMWs and other bikes, my S1000XR is the best bike I've ever owned. Enjoy much more than my GS Adventures... Now own KTMs for off road, but the XR is respectable for the occasional gravel stretch if needed. But fun on the road can't be beat...
I’m considering this, I had a Busa but it’s not so tour friendly, I’m seriously considering the XR. I love in-line 4 engines. Currently I ride a Diavel , but I just didn’t have a good experience with the BMW dealership. Please sell me this bike.
The '24 XR seat is better to me. But it's hard to truly judge in a 20 min test ride. But i sat on a '23 XR in the dealership. I did not like how it pushed up on my gems. It's hard to imagine that being comfortable on any length of ride
I am 200cm, I did not like that the screen sent all the wind right on my helmet (a lot of buffeting), too upright for me a bit more forward lean would have been great. Maybe you can adjust the handle bars a bit forward or lower, I do not know.

Best thing you can do to this bike is throw on the bren tuning stage 1. Gets rid of the neutered throttle and a whole myriad of stock bike tuning issues. I was very happy when I did my 2018, even though I had to send in the ECU back in 2018.
I bought one last year. I laugh and call it the "Dad bike". I kind of think it's dorky looking, and my likely equally dorky looking riding it, but, wow, is it good. It's fast, it turns great at low and high speed, leans confidently, the electronic nannies work without being too intrusive, leading to even greater confidence. And while I don't love blasting down the highways, it's great at that too, a recliner that goes 100MPH. ;) I'm really happy with it. Have a full Akro exhaust and Brentuned, that woke it up quite a bit and also, man, the stock exhaust just pulled all the character out of the engine.
@@JTVlogs.247 This is very different than a K. They are opposite sides of the touring spectrum. It's a good bike though, does a lot of things either well or pretty good and, twist the throttle, you will smile. I suck at riding out a wheelie; but if you were good at it, this thing seems like it'd be a pretty easy bike to do that on.
For the Brentune do you have to send them the ECU or how does it work. I just got the 2021 HP version of this bike with the Akrapovic stock can. Thank you.

i really hope you do a review of the newest gen superduke 1290r or the evo. Would really like your opinion!
Linked brakes is suchhhh a good feature, honestly
What’s worse than one hybrid van? Two hybrid vans. We had 12 of them in a row (Chinese tours groups) to past the other day. Cut them up like a panda on Bambo 😅
Let’s see that track day!!!! I have an S1000R now and am looking for one bike that can do it all. @yammienoob weird question, how’s the turning radius and steering lock? My S1KR has basically no steer lock, just curious if the XR is the same.
I have one. The bars are huge so you can turn it super easy. Seriously for a 500lb bike it maneuvers around in the slow parking lot turns easier than most bikes
@@jeffbrownme2 good to know! I’m thinking of making the switch. I’m looking for a do it all track, commute, and road trip bike. My S1KR can do a lot, but it’s not the greatest on the knees on multi-hour stretches of boring American highways.
@@ClevelandBeemer I’m looking at doing the exact same thing. I have an s1000r which I love when I’m out scratching but for longer distances and the odd time I want to chill it’s not great. I’m looking at a nice 2022 triple black
"Hey Yam, ride bike X, its pretty good!"
"Nah that bike is trash [insert overused brand meme]"
*rides bike
"Wow, turns out bike X is pretty good"
Is the best sport touring bike
unfortunately the best isn't made anymore :((
@@funk-n-groovin6779 then it's the best... and whatever you're talking about USED to be the best 🤷♂️
@@funk-n-groovin6779 i feel you
@@Gideon_Judges6 ha ha ha, hum.......true.
Whoa, gonna go out on a limb here: Would you consider trying a Honda NT700, or Deauville as they are known in Europe…? I know this model was discontinued in 2012, but it seems to me that it “ticks most of the boxes” you just described in this test, apart from the HP of course.😂
I have been looking at the NT 700. I agree with yourself, " ticks most of the boxes " ; " apart from the HP of course " ..... which is the MAIN reason I've lost interest in the NT 700. I think there is a NT 1300 that does have the Horses, but is more weight than I'd feel comfortable dealing with .....
The problem with the NT is that it's so dull. The engine is based on half a Honda Jazz engine!
The Yamaha Tracer and Suzuki V Strom are both much better in every way.
@@stevec6427 I think you are refering to the NC series engines, the NT is a V2.
Would love to get your opinion on a 1250 rs. I’m opting for the rs over the xr.
nothing like go ride em that will let u know. we used to do that before we watched some YT, and made a spread sheet on them.
Track day for sure
Hey Yammie! Subber here with a quick question, you ever ride a BMW F800R by chance? If so did you like it?
Man, not sure what happened but the video quality on this one...MEH. Dude it's dark...the solo helmet cam is moving all over the place, and looks like little to no image stabilization. Were the settings off? Ignored? Short on time? I feel like I couldn't see the bike and only got audio during a ride.
New settings, it's better, trust
Have yet to find a bad BMW ....found plenty of duff yams though...
We need a Ducati multistrada pikes peak review!
Would love to see a sport touring track day with this bike !!!!
Cuban Rider on UA-cam
Great Panniers. What brand are they?
That bike is setup with the BMW cases, panniers and top box are all OEM. All 3 are very nice/well made. Not cheap, but, well, it's a BMW! ;)
The seat on the XR is terrible. It pushes you into the tank & is a real nut crusher.
Could you do the 2023 Street triple?
Okay Agreed 👍 Luv✔️ iT.
The butt scoop is not nice for those of us with some junk in the trunk. I prefer the last Gen seat
Dr jekill and mr hide i love it
Getting stuck behind a cattle truck is worse than any minivan.
I agree with what yammie is saying. On my K1200 I can’t feel the speed I just look down an see I’m going 120 lol 😂
I have a 2002 K1200. Deceptively fast. from 30mph in 6th gear to way past legal speeds in a flash. Best sport touring bike ever made IMO.
Its not the BMW'S that are the problem for me. Its the bmw riders.
What’s so bad about them?
@@sweetdrahthaar7951 Most of the ones I've met have been arrogant dick heads.
@@sweetdrahthaar7951 They do not buy the indicator pack, it's problematic for the rest of road users
