Great trip Chopsy ... over here in british Columbia I learned to were snowmobile gloves/mitts in bad weather and rain. They have big visor wipers on the backs of the gloves and lobster (3 finger) mittens. There is nothing better than an electrically heated, waterproof lobster mitten on a cold ride.
I had to buy some serious gloves on a trip to NZ South Island a couple of years back - I bought some ski gauntlets at a petrol station. Hands were as warm as toast from then on, even without the heated grips. I'm not sure if they had some sort of wiper system on them - would have been very handy. But there were other issues such as needle sharp and freezing rain that meant you couldn't open your visor but couldn't see ahead without opening it a least a crack. Serves me right for venturing into NZ at the start of their winter season!
I did Garmisch via Strasbourg each way solo and on to Grossglockner after Garmisch. In the wet and mountain fog and clouds I had zero vision problems with water or misting. "Visin Heated Visor" my game changer (especially with glasses) since Motorcycle Live last year! Best money I've spent on a motorcycling accessory.
I rather enjoyed that Chopsie (and not just because you were sufferring!) - glad it's not just me that does all that faffage with the gloves then realises I've forgotton my earplugs! What a bummer that screen flying off was...but the hotel at the end looked good (and I think actually quite good value including breako)....looking forward to the next episode!
You are right about the helmet/visor issues. The only time I have problems with the outside is when its been raining but has stopped and road shit gets flung up. The inside is more of a problem. Pinlocks leak eventually.
I was under the impression you had amazing time management putting out all the content and holding down a job, after watching all the faffing I’m starting to doubt it. First came to your channel when you were on a European trip with Womble, after all these years great to see you on another.
Video cracked me up🤣 especially when the screen flew off, you got all the gear on then had to take it all off bought back some memories, brilliant keep them coming 👍
What month was this? The cable cars and some chairlifts are open in the summer for hikers and cyclists. They close if it's very windy and in about October until the snow arrives.
Great video Mr chops I’ve done lots of European tours with friends sole and also with my wife riding pillion always a bit faffing but still the thing I enjoy most on a bike the fun starts as I roll of my drive 😁👍👍👍
Great string of videos 👍🏼 Thank god they changed the seat. Yes some older retired sportbike riders which this bike is aimed at may have gained weight 😆 btw as an older rider who has no patience I only wear helmets that accept transition visors.
Nice vid. Looking forward to the next one. XR looks incredibly capable & a better all-round package than the GS if you've got still got some sporty pretensions. Was chuckling with the faffidge! Every time I go out on the bike my gloves are on & off ten times when I too realise I've forgotten to put my earplugs in & then can't remember where they are anyway. Then of course there's also, where's my wallet, phone & keys etc accompanied by expletive layden self-talk mumbling lol. Sigh.
Like watching Karate Kid 10 , gloves on , gloves off . 😂 just missing the wax . Lone wolf return trip glad to see you finally relaxing and enjoying the ride . Looking forward to the continuation. Great video Chops 👍
So funny , you had us laughing so much , especially when your said you forgot your earplugs 😂 , this is my other half all over it must be a man thing 😂😂.
Hi Lamb Chop....well you got into a right 2 & 8 with all that flaffing around, it wouldn't have happened if you had visited me here in France & Spain but your choice....never mind. Oh & the roads here are much better.
I look forward to the blast home from the Alps to Manchester in a day. finishes the tour off lovely. About 1000 miles. So much fun. I know, I'm mad!! What's the KTM GT is made for!!
Very nice ! Yes the auto-something in Germany. To my surprise I was able to rent a Honda Blackbird about 25 years ago. What a thrill to be able to pin it on a Sunday morning legally on a public road. For miles and miles. Got to love riding in Germany. Indicated 285 KPH. What would the XR do?
I am a Triumpher but believe me and my 2 Gs friends that SOS button is worth its weight in gold and will make me start looking at BMW for my next bike (unless Triumph bring out that service) BMW should advertise the full benefits of that SOS and it will be the best bike forever!!!!!!! From a Triumpher we'll done Bmw
I’ll one-up the forgetting/losing stuff championship, having had the whole content of my backpack fly out because of a loose zip doing 160mph on a freeway, ahem. That included my wallet, my GoPro, part of my clothes and my ferry tickets to go back home lol. Of course I noticed the suspiciously light backpack after a few miles, I was saved by keeping my ID card in my jacket with 150€ cash inside.
Oh its quick, at least as fast as a GSXR750. I absolutely loved it on this trip home, certainly wouldn't have swapped it for a GS. Plus you can really load it up with gear with all the panniers and top box. It's even comfortable for a pillion
The 1300 quicker than the sas? I took one out today and was a bit underwhelmed and I can’t say I’ve ever heard anyone mention heat on the 1290 it was baking my legs and the seat got hot
@@LambChopRides might be because it was like 24 today but it was cooking me and it’s not slow don’t get me wrong but it’s my first time with a lc8 and how people go on I expected it to pull my arms off 😂 other than the heat couldn’t really pick fault with it
If your screen came flying off on the autobahn I can see the wiper thing doing the same. Wouldn't one of them just scratch the hell out of your visor anyway.
Great one Chopsie. Love it when the music and the roads and the time of day all sync up. Can still recall certain selections even from when I first started riding. Soul food.
Hi Chopsie I broke down on my 30th wedding anniversary , the day prince Phillip died we had every type of weather. I pressed the SOS button on my GS , they told me to ring breakdown as the SOS button was for crashes! 4 hours later we were rescued, only one person stopped to ask if we needed help, I will never forget that day.👍🏻
Faff faff faff…….faff faff…….faff faff faff. Normal behaviour mate. 😂. One of my friends who goes on trips is worse than that. We would arrange to meet at the bikes in 10 mins. Rest of us usually give it 20 mins and then turn up. Still have to wait 5 mins. 😂
I don't think your ride at dusk was poignant. It sounded like you were enjoying it. Something poignant makes you feel sad or regretful...I was riding around the Alps with Lara Small recently. She was testing a Triumph Tiger. I asked what she thought of it & she said riding it was poignant. A confusing conversation ensued...
@@LambChopRides Now you've got me wondering... I just took a look at my Oxford Dictionary (1970s print edition). It says 'Pungent, stinging, keen, penetrating, moving, vivid'. It may not be what you meant, but i often experience a fleeting moment of poignancy at some point at the end of a road trip or holiday. That slight feeling of regret going home and wondering if you’ll ever return to that particular location again, albeit that it passes quickly!😂😂😂
Regarding the GSA, not everybody has to like it though. It’s not a case of getting used to it, it’s just simply a case of everybody doesn’t like the same thing 🤷🏻♂️ I can see how it might be difficult to say anything negative given you’ve just been put up by BMW 😂 IMHO it looks shite. Hardly something I’d open the garage to and say “Phwooooar” 😂
I saw the photos of the GSA the night before so the bike wasn't a surprise. I wouldn't buy one but I don't think it's horrible. Honest opinions, I have no pressure to say nice things
That is one of the things i DON’T like on my 2024 XR, filling it up. The filler….hole is just dumb. Can’t see how much you put in and suddenly it’s TOO full. But the rest of the bike makes up for it.
Dont knock riding in flip flops..it slows you down...any more than 120 and your toes spread too much and makes going any quicker uncomfortable...recommended

Why is it few manufacturers can make a screen for all. It's a sport touring bike ffs
I think this is because of the M package: the standard (not so short screen) is then replaced with this small one.
