I love the way you show independent travelling as it really is, with all the vagaries of the weather, transport connections that sometimes don't quite work, and the uncertainty of just finding your way around in a foreign land, and yet you make a virtue of the unpredictability and the little adventures that come your way. Keep up the good work!
I love traveling alone too. I have been doing it since 2012, but not a full-time traveler. As an Indonesian, it's not that easy to get visa to travel to certain countries. I always watch your videos, but this video got me a special feeling. It's just perfect sceneries with the combination of the dope music that shoots me. I recalled the feelings when I was traveling, sometimes lonely and sad, but I enjoyed it. It's the time when I learnt and understood myself more. It's not always good, sometimes there were challenges, but it's addictive. That's amazing when I tried to find something in the places that I've never been to, but the only thing I found was myself.
Aww thank you Khairul! I agree, my biggest challenge doing this fulltime is the visa restriction while doing everything by myself (filming & editing wise). Dave chose the last music on this video and he's got a musical talent that I need to learn from haha. Thank you for sharing your experience and perspective!
@@SyifaAdriana Thank you for your response. Dave definitely has a taste of music. haha. Well, I don't mind to re-watch your old videos again and again, but you know, your upcoming videos are always impatiently waited by me, probably all of your subscribers. Stay safe and healthy! @@guacamolebelacan8094 Haha thanks Khairul! Dave's family is a mainly classical musicians and Dave himself went to music school in Manchester for his highschool and uni. He's definitely got a better taste music than I do 🤣
You are so inspiring 😍 traveling alone isn't easy. I love how you are showing the reality, how you actually feel. I really want to travel to Scotland. I've watched a lot of travel documentaries of Scotland but your video is one of the most realistic and helpful. 🌿
Your recent videos of travelling in Scotland really ignited my travel bug that have been hibernating throughout the pandemic. Totally can relate to the stress and tension that you felt because I personally don't drive and always needed to depend on the public transportation whenever I travel. But, as much as I hope I have the convenience and comfort of self-drive, I think I will always choose public transportation whenever I travel solo because you will never know who you will meet briefly throughout that journey. Scotland is definately on the top of my travel bucket list now. Thanks for sharing all this with us!
Thank you so much KenBon. What a lovely thing to read! I am so glad that you can relate to this frustration of using public transportation 😁 Loved reading your comment!!
Hello. I took that same route and ferry last year. I travel alone, mostly drive myself, camping, and walk a lot. I went to the top of Lewis, then drove down through Harris, North and South Uist, Benbecula, almost to Barra. Very windy. Enjoy your travels. ilona
Beautiful video, thank you for sharing! I live in the highlands of Scotland, and I have also visited Indonesia, with it’s amazing people ! I have travelled on this ferry many times,❤️
Glad to see you traveling to Hebrides Islands. The weather - cloudy, rainy, windy, chilly and gloomy- is very typical of Scotland. You simply have to accept it to love Scotland. Because the sunny days - when the land shines like a fairy -tale land - compensate for this.
The third episode is more challenge for you in scotland when you were almost frustated because the weather isnt very predictable, but you had flexibility and spontaneity. And its great😁😁😁
I found out about this channel a few days ago and love it since I love solo travel. Great video and soundtrack. This Scotland series reminds me a bit of my last trip to Norway in July. Thanks a lot Syfia for sharing your trip in these videos :)
Very good and beautifully shot video which gives you an idea of just how diverse our weather can be but also how limited public transport is in the north west of Scotland. I lived for over a decade on the Outer Hebrides and regularly crossed the Minch on the Hebrides. You do get used to the choppy seas after a while!
I recognise quite a bit of Tarbert having spent a weeks Holiday there a few years ago in fact our Holiday Cottage was at the top of those steps you climbed up to take in the views at the end
Another fascinating video. I never made it to the Outer Hebrides (to my eternal regret) and I very much doubt I will now (I'm in Philippines now!). As to previous travel; I spent 5 years in the late 1970s and early-to-mid 1980s hitch-hiking around Europe and found that an adaptable style is a pre-requisite - you set out to go from Paris to Munich and end up in Marseille! What the heck! Marseille is a cool city and Munich will be there another time. I take my hat off to you for traveling alone and I understand why you do it - you don't have to justify anything (route, destination, etc.) to a travel companion. It's also a great way of learning. Yes, about the places and people whom you meet but, more importantly, about yourself and your own peculiar attitudes to situations which you encounter. I miss travel. Naaah, that's a lie - I miss my youth and the opportunity to travel freely with no set goal. Thoroughly enjoying your videos.
There are always good & bad days when travelling, but the good ones always far outweigh the frustrating ones and make the whole experience such a pleasure & worthwhile. Although from South West England I spent six weeks in Manchester in 1963 travelling all over the north of England and even travelled to Scotland independently from there. Yes I'm an oldie.....that was the summer of 1963! That experience gave me the confidence to travel to many parts of the world independently. Love your videos Syifa.......it's always a pleasure when a new one appears! 👍👍😊
The people you meet are just as helpful but the surroundings are so different to your past travels. Quite funny to already hear a bit of Scottishness in your accent! :D
hi syifa, i am from neighbouring singapore and this your vlogs bring back so much great memories from when i solo travelled in scotland as part of my uk trip in june. it was such a liberating and amazing experience, coupled with the scenic views and nice people i met along the way. thanks for the vidoes and listening to your stories, the cinematics + music resonate really well with me :)
This is a really good quality travel blog, with a very charming host. I may be biased, as I am from the highlands of Scotland, and have travelled this route many times. I also have a place in my heart for Indonesia, as I have also travelled on ferries there too, (Bali, Lombok, Gili Trawang, Gili air…) and fell in love with the people there too. 👌🏴
I'm very happy to have found your wonderful travel vlogs, which are so beautifully recorded and made with such care. Thanks and 'Cheers!' from one of your newest subscribers.
After a hard day of work even though a Saturday I am home and get to relax with this Video thanks for your efforts and sharing your journey. Stay safe and stay happy
Oh no!! I work on ships! You have to go low to help seasickness. Get to the lowest part of ship- or close to the water line as you can and go near the centre, between front and back. Motion is less there. Laying down , keeping head still and closing eyes good. Avoid hot, strong smells and believe it or not- eating something will help steady your stomach . Take care! Nice video and safe travels!
Wow the place looks amazing, I'd like to try riding a ferry and you're so lucky of meeting kind and helpful people 🙂 I'm Praying that you always have a safe travel...👍
I enjoyed your video. I have travelled alone through much of the Hebrides and it can be a challenge, making connections and getting places. But it can be very rewarding because when you are alone, people will talk to you. When two or more people travel together, they don't realise it but to others they appear to already have formed a bubble and so people probably won't take the chance to ask about you. I've travelled in Ireland and Norway and the Netherlands all on my own and can think of many people I met who rewarded my travel with a kind remark or sharing. So I would say to keep travelling, in whatever form you want to try. I have never seen any place as beautiful as the west of Scotland.
This is the first video of yours that I've seen and it's a very enjoyable watch. If you get the chance to go to Harris again you absolutely must visit some of the beaches. Luskentyre and Seilibost are amazing beaches with white sand and turquoise water. It's like the Caribbean, but colder 🤣. It's difficult without transport, but I promise these beaches will amaze you.
Sorry love, but you HAVE to book accommodation ahead. I planned a 5 day solo trip to Scotland, by bus, like yourself. I went through my itinerary time and time again and allowed for delays. The second time i did it it lashed all day and gave in and asked a local for a lift. Glad you stuck it out!
Just stumbled on your channel and subscribed. Fascinating Hebridean odyssey. Boy does that weather seem harsh! I shall watch again. Good luck on your travels.
Great video. I have never been to this location of Scotland. I traveled one month in 1983 pretty much alone between college semesters all over Europe/UK/Ireland, I so wished back then there were mobile phones, internet to help with finding places to stay. I also did another one month trip (1990) again in Europe/UK/Ireland with a friend, though flying by the seat of our pants was a bit tiring, if we didn't like a town, we moved on with the next train. Had fun meeting all sorts of people during our journey, now I take my daughter overseas each year, sadly this is our last as she is heading toward post-graduate school, so it is sad to think it is over, but so happy to have taken her to so many countries and open her eyes to the world. Stay safe Syifa, may your travels have many more sunny, dry days, to enjoy the walks from bus to ferry and back again.
Thank you so much Kayaker, your comment is so lovely to read! I do enjoy reading people's different experiences when they travel. Sending my best regards to your daughter, I am sure she will learn a great knowledge from her study 😊
Travelled alone to Lewis and Harris and Skye in May too I also stopped in the cowshed on Skye. I love the highlands it is a great place even with the crazy weather.
Great realistic video. 👍🏼 Although I can't believe you went all the way back to Portree rather than walk into Uig! 😁 Looks further than it actually is. Also surprised by people commenting about you travelling alone. Very common in the Highlands and one of the safest areas to do so in the World. Keep up the good work.
This is so interesting to watch, because I am part of the team doing the upgrades to the pier. I know exactly what day this was because of the contractors vans I can see in the background and the demolition of the existing waiting shelter next to where you boarded the ferry!
Beautiful and interesting trip, Syifa. You had your share of rainy weather, but the landscapes are super beautiful. I love your video, I love your strong personality and your nice way of interacting with the locals and adapting to any situation. I really appreciate your work and your travels as a single woman, your videos motivate me and the way of thinking to fulfill that dream of traveling. Thank you very much Syifa for another outstanding video.
Syifa you are very strong women going alone through Scotland country side for the first time I really appreciate you for being courage and motivation women and I really enjoy your vlogs showing us beautiful nature mountains and ocean.
Syifa. Scotland has always been like this..... variable and unpredictable weather-wise. But take heart, so long as you are prepared with good clothing and plenty of water, you can survive in any conditions.
Uau I am loving it. Did you do all that with one Spirit of Scotland ticket? I can't wait to do a similar travel I am just worried about the travel times and if one spirit of Scotland ticket is enough. Thanks so much for sharing this.
Suasana, pemandangan, langit mendung, dan ketenangan semuanya membangkitkan kenangan masa kecil riang yang dihabiskan bermain di alam, penuh imajinasi. Namun, tidak dengan kini.
I dropped on this by pure chance.....and it's an extremely well made travel vlog and beautifully filmed. I've liked and subscribed to your channel as I want to see more of where you have been! Despite living in England, Scotland has always been a favourite part of the country to visit and i've been to many islands including Skye and the Outer Hebrides. Yes the weather can be a bit unpredictable but as Billy Connolly (Scottish comedian) said, "if you don't like the weather in Scotland, just hang on for 20 minutes!!"
@@SyifaAdriana It's well earned as your vlogs are excellent.....i've just been watching some of Iran you uploaded 4 years ago and have LOTS to catch up on! I travelled throughout Europe in a motorhome for many years but had to give it up in 2019 due to ill health. Now I "travel" by subscribing to YT channels like yours and "tour" the world! 😀
Ahh. I Know the outer hebrides quite well and for the best experience you need to cycle or hire a car and see the beaches, theres a lot to see in harris and lewis and short ferries to the uists and barra which have a lot. Tarbert doesnt have much and Ive stayed at that hostel before and the one in Leverburgh is so much better
Bus drivers are usually good at driving on the correct side of the road! Take a bus and let them worry. Trams are even better. Nearest trams to central London are a bit to the south, Croydon to Wimbledon.
Dear Syifa. Im so happy to see a new video for this week. I think i get addicted. Scotland looks so majestic. Perhaps.. i will follow your path next year. Your video really inspire me to travel again. Keep safe and healthy. Lots of love from Indonesia ❤
I've done a lot of solo travelling but, unlike you, in my later years, I must have everything planned ahead of time. I don't care for spontaneity and changing decisions on the fly any more! Your videos are good to watch. Sorry that the weather was so depressing for you on this part of your journey but glad to see that you came out of it in the end. I'm impressed, also, by the aerial footage in your videos and wondering if you fly a drone yourself or obtain that footage in some other way. Anyway, keep on doing what your doing and I look forward to watching may more of your travel videos.
Thank you Ismith! As my travel is my job while at the same time documenting my journey, spontaneity is a necessity. I find that through spontaneous way of traveling, at times I found the best interactions with the locals, just like how it was captured on my other videos 😊 Thank you as well! The drone shots were taken by me as I travel, shots, pilot the drone and edit this video by myself 😊 Kind regards
Hi Syfiya I hope you enjoyed your travels. At one point in your video you questioned yourself about why you do this. You do this because you can. You are curious about different places and cultures despite some of the difficulties it takes to satisfy your curiosity. I am the same way and feel envious of your achievements. When making journies like this we often meet Angels (like the man from Liverpool) with whom you exchanged happy words - these kind of meetings help us along our way and provide fortitude to understand we are doing something wortwhile. All the best always.
Hi Syifa Have you tried (barley sugar sweets) It's great for Travil sickness, car sickness, would be helpful with sea sickness too, Great video by the way thanks.
Thanks a lot Gary! Someone recommended a ginger tablet, which I have tried and it seemed to work. Where can I get the barley sugar sweets? Can I find them on Boots or Tesco? Thanks a lot for watching
Really nice video, Syifa, it’s like an adventure to see the beautiful view of Scotland. As an Indonesian, where do you learn your English ? You speak so well. And why you like to travel alone and not with friend or family?
Thanks a lot RK. I learn English continuously by learning through movies, books and speaking to a lot of English speakers. I have just got married to my British husband so that also helps my fluency. I do try to always create an English speaking environment even when I started learning the basic. I do enjoy the freedom of solo traveling and I am an introvert haha!
Loving this Scotland series, Syfia. Soundtrack always on point :)

Uau I am loving it. Did you do all that with one Spirit of Scotland ticket? I can't wait to do a similar travel I am just worried about the travel times and if one spirit of Scotland ticket is enough. Thanks so much for sharing this.
I like your videos..your are very kind💖
Suasana, pemandangan, langit mendung, dan ketenangan semuanya membangkitkan kenangan masa kecil riang yang dihabiskan bermain di alam, penuh imajinasi. Namun, tidak dengan kini.
What I see is that travelling through Scotland means a proper voyage plan beforehand!
Thank you so much for your kind comment! I do enjoy reading people's experience too!
If you get back to Portree stay at the Portree Youth Hostel. Great !
You re great dear , and this a beautiful video .All the best for the future prospects .👍🌷💛
Thank you so much for watching, I truly appreciate it🙂
I’m taking my first solo trip to London. I’m nervous about driving on the opposite side of the road!
Good luck Molly! You’ll have an amazing time xx
Thanks dear!
Bus drivers are usually good at driving on the correct side of the road! Take a bus and let them worry.
Trams are even better.
Nearest trams to central London are a bit to the south, Croydon to Wimbledon.
Another beautiful viedo from you. Nice sharing. Keep it up.
Thank you so much for watching, I truly appreciate it🙂
Dear Syifa. Im so happy to see a new video for this week. I think i get addicted. Scotland looks so majestic. Perhaps.. i will follow your path next year. Your video really inspire me to travel again. Keep safe and healthy. Lots of love from Indonesia ❤
Thank you so much Sonya! That's very kind of you to say this 🙂
Nice to see you again. Stay safe and expect next episode.

Thank you so much for watching, I truly appreciate it🙂
Hi I love travelling scotland islelands am from scotland also..your videos are a great watch.thank you.😂❤
Glad you like them! Thanks James.
Hi, i'am from Indonesia too, i just saw your vlog, i like very much 👍👍👍
I think I just bought a boat ( ebay) so I will be going to Tarbert soon... this is so helpful !
SADLY, I "missed the boat" but the study I did to figure out how to get to Tarbert has me sold on Scotland !
I find that through spontaneous way of traveling, at times I found the best interactions with the locals, just like how it was captured on my other videos 😊
Thank you as well! The drone shots were taken by me as I travel, shots, pilot the drone and edit this video by myself 😊 Kind regards
@@SyifaAdriana Wow, that's even more remarkable! You are very talented. Thanks for your reply :)
@@IScreamer Thank you for your kind appreciation!
In the end, it looked like you had decent weather. One day I will go there, it looks beautiful.
Hahaha indeed it was! Yes you should go :-)
you are crazy......and with lots of courage......salute you...
Thanks so much!
Awaiting your next videos!!!! Love it 😍😍😍😍
Hi Syfiya I hope you enjoyed your travels.
Hi Syfia what’s the guest house name if possible I’m planning so that would be helpful? Thanks
Hello Marco, it was a hostel in Tarbert and can be found here: www.backpackers-stop.co.uk/ Hope this is helpful!
Love this Scotland series
Thank you so much for watching, I truly appreciate it 🙂
So lovely place.
It’s a shame that you didn’t go to the Isle of Lewis, as it’s connected to Harris, and see the amazing stones at Calanais
@@SyifaAdriana Maybe Tesco, major sweet shops or on line Amazon places like that, Years ago you could buy them from your local shop or supermarkets.
Breathtaking vlog.. breathtaking scotish weather, scenery 👍👌great 🙏
Thank you so much for your comment, Krishna!
Thats as good as the weather gets
Hahaha yeah I agree with you! Thank you so much for watching, I truly appreciate it 🙂
Really nice video, Syifa, it’s like an adventure to see the beautiful view of Scotland.
Love your vids
