If you like dark with a touch of magic and some romance and you haven't read The Picture of Dorian Gray, do yourself a favour and read it as soon as humanly possible
ADSoM is such a great fall read, and I've actually not read many of these, so I have a bunch to add to my list! Also, thank you so much for shining a light on Elise Kova. I absolutely love her and it warms my heart to see her getting the recognition she deserves! Thank you!
My tbr for fall= Sep: Reread The Way of Kings Oct: Reread Words of Radiance First half of Nov: Reread Edgedancer 2nd half of Nov: Read/ fangirl over/ consume/ devour OATHBRINGER! (You probably can't tell how excited I am 🌚)
Currently reading the Oathbringer previews in tor.com, i would've waited for the whole book but my hype level is through the roof! Can't wait for November.
I got an ARC of One Dark Throne and I liked it! I hope you enjoy it! Vengeance Road was one of my favorite books of last year (I was lucky enough to get an ARC of the sequel too!)
I'm currently reading "The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding". I'm really enjoying it and am getting all the Halloween/ Fall vibes from it. Next on my tbr is "Hunting Prince Dracula".
aredhel grace ' some things happen to Gen in that second one' I know what you mean!!! The Queen of Attolia is my favorite book that I read this year!!!😃
Regan, YES! Read Vengeance Road! When I first started watching your videos you had that book displayed prominently on your shelves, and I was so captivated by the cover that I eventually picked it up and LOVED it. I didn't realize you hadn't read it yet. Her next book comes out in November and I can't wait. :)
You have convinced me to start The Queen's Thief series! Already bought the 4 books and really looking forward to know your take on The Queen of Attolia! :)
Regan! You should really really continue with the shades of magic series soon, it's honestly just beyond amazing and you're missing out every second you're not reading it
I started reading The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding last night and I think it's going to be a quick read. I'm loving it so far and I'm getting such a Hocus Pocus/Halloweentown feel to it. It's perfect for the fall time.
Ugh every time you think you have your TBR all planned out Regan posts a video... But I'm here for it haha, always love your recommendations ! Fall is my absolute favorite season (mainly for reading purposes ^^)
Vengeance Road is good! It was my first ever Western novel. Actually, I read it because you showed it in one of your TBR's before. ❤️ Hope you enjoy it as much as I did! 😊
I love Scythe! The 2nd book is coming out in January. Scythe' s writing opened me up to Neal Shustermam. I'm currently devouring the Unwind series. He's hands down my favorite author.
My next read is also a Victoria Schwab one, "This Savage Song"! I just started reading "You" by Caroline Kepnes, definitely getting into the Halloween vibe here
I love fall plus it's my birthday also the best movies , hot chocolate , pumpkin lattes 😍and more . I am currently reading Red Rising and clockwork angel
I always enjoy your videos :) great fall tbr. We have a lot of similar books on our lists :) I love Jennifer Anne davis' fantasy series! Cage of deceit is my favorite :)
If you want to read more western (YA) themed books, you should try Every Hidden Thing by Kenneth Oppel. It's set in the nineteenth century in the Badlands. It's not dark; it's definitely a romance and has more of summer feels. I loved it.
i'm so excited for one dark throne, omg. i won't be getting it for a while so i'm contenting myself by rereading three dark crowns. my tbr currently includes a darker shade of magic and now that you've mentioned it i feel the need to pick it up and start it next! have you ever read the mortal engines quartet by philip reeve? i feel like you'd enjoy it :)
Seriously Regan, you need to read The Skulduggery Pleasant series by Derek Landy. It's dark, super funny and snarky, kick-ass leads, full of magic and action and Derek isn't scared to take his books in some very twisted turns. 100/100 would recommend! With me hearing the type of books you like to read, I so don't know how you've missed them.
I plan on reading (in that order) The Little Friend, The Raven Boys, Into the Water, The Golden House, One of Us Is Lying, A Darker Shade of Magic, Scarlet, Murder on the Orient Express, We Were Liars and The Underground Railroad, I can't wait to read them all !! Also, I'm currently rereading Harry Potter and the The Philosopher’s Stone 😊
You should check out Blue is For Nightmares by Laurie Stolarz and Welcome to the Dark House by her as well. I'd also recommend Kelley Armstrong!! They're two of my favourite authors.
The Queen of Blood by Sarah Beth Durst is the perfect fall read! It's a wonderful fantasy story with a really cool setting (cities are located entirely in the trees) and nature spirits are hostile to humans. Like Three Dark Crowns it's also a matriarchy; the only person who can protect the people from the nature spirits is the Queen, and she's chosen from a pool of candidates from this magical school. It's sooooo unbelievably good!
I'm hoping to pick up the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy this Fall. :) It's at the top of my TBR pile and all of the reviews I've heard make it seem like a very atmospheric read. Perfect for this time of year!
I so want to read all of these books! I swear they've all been on my TBR for so so long 😱Id love to get to The Wise Man's Fear and A Clash of Kings soon but I never seem to be able to find time to pick them up!
Three Dark Crowns reminds me of The Vampire Diaries arc for the Gemini Twins/Coven. I haven't read the book so I don't know how parallel they are but every time I heard people talk about that book my mind goes straight to The Vampire Diaries lol.
Since you love the queen of atolia series so much, try the false prince trilogy! The main character is also a very skilled thief and you'll love him :)
I'm not sure if I've commented about this book, but Sorrows Knot by Erin Bow is sooooo good!! It was quite dark and really atmospheric and ine of the most interesting books i've read it a while.
A great book for October is Mongrels by Stephen Graham Jones, it's a werewolf story with a twist. It's definitely one of my favourites, it's like a mix of coming-of-age and horror, the plot is very oriented around family and life on the fringes of society, a very character-driven story. I think it's seriously underappreciated, more people should read it.
I'm also eagerly waiting for my BN pre-order of One Dark Throne to arrive! I had to get the special edition but that also means risking not getting it right away because BN.com takes their time with shipping. I'm loving the Stalking Jack the Ripper series by Kerri Maniscalco. Her new novel, Hunting Prince Dracula is also out today and I'm hoping Amazon brings it to me today :) And then I got Tower of Dawn to enjoy also. So far, those are my top 3 reads for this fall.
I've only got a couple on my TBR and the rest fall into place based on my mood.... But I'm going to reread The Diviners and Liar of Dreams, both by Libba Bray, in anticipation for the 3rd book in the series- Before the Devil Breaks You. And my nonfiction, I've got an ARC of Leonardo DaVinci by Walter Isaacson to read before its release, and I'm super excited.
Hey Regan, I've been wanting to tell you about this series for quite some time because I've seen that you never talk about it though it is well-known. It's a fantasy series of old mold but sooooooooooo good! The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander, starting with The Book of Three. Check it out and let me know what you think of it :) from Italy with love
The Italian Reviewer my dad loves those books, so I’ve been reading the entire series this year and I am so in love with them. I wish more people knew about them!
Actually I wanted to wait to read Three Dark Crowns because I am already reading 6 books at the moment. But then again I just really want to dive right into the story already... whatever, I'm going to start it after finishing your video 🤣🙃
I really am looking forward to dipping into my historical fiction this fall also a book you might like is the enchanted by Renee denfeld. It is very dark and has hi ts of magic. Much like the story of the "green mile"
I am hoping to finally finish the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning and then read some more books! Regan if you haven't read The Conqueror's Saga by Kiersten White, then I really recommend you check it out! Historical fiction, dark, with a kick-ass heroine... You will love it :)
Dark fantasy: Faeries of Dreamdark, Blackbringer. It's by Laini Taylor, and that's all you need to know. I love it dearly, but no one seems to know about it.
I was gonna write "I cant believe you hadnt read darker shade of magic" and then you said it was a reread ahahah. makes more sense. I currently reading it for the first time :)
It's my goal to read the entire Dorothy Must Die series soon. I am about halfway through the first book and loving it! I am hosting a 24 hour read-a-thon this Saturday Sept 23rd from midnight to midnight. I know you have done one in the past (Loved your video of it by the way) and wanted to see if you would be interested in joining me for this one. If you can't do this weekend, I do plan on hosting another on Oct 28th! :)
I love the books you mentioned! Def writing a few down to my list. I've been reading Vinyl by Sophia Elaine Hanson and I'm really enjoying it! It's a dystopia where people are controlled through music (they more or less install a headphone in your ear at birth). It's a really cool concept and I'm enjoying the characters, world and steampunk-gritty ish feel of the story!! Totally recommend it.
Can we all talk about how Vengeance Road is the most perfect book cover for fall like I need it on my duvet cover 😍
If you like dark with a touch of magic and some romance and you haven't read The Picture of Dorian Gray, do yourself a favour and read it as soon as humanly possible
@Veronica Marie I love that book!!! I read it 4 time and every time I discover a new angle.
Yes!! So good, and it has that charm/wit that Regan mentioned, too! This is my favorite classic by far. :)
I love that book! I'm actually re-reading it at the moment 😊
YES I can't wait to reread it, Oscar Wilde is a MAGICIAN with words
My favourite classic too, closely followed by Frankenstein! Just so incredible, truest from of literature as art in my opinion.
ADSoM is such a great fall read, and I've actually not read many of these, so I have a bunch to add to my list!
Also, thank you so much for shining a light on Elise Kova. I absolutely love her and it warms my heart to see her getting the recognition she deserves!
Thank you!

Looks like a pretty smart plan. I should probably do the same lol
Currently reading the Oathbringer previews in tor.com, i would've waited for the whole book but my hype level is through the roof! Can't wait for November.

Fall usually means a lot of Stephen King books and the start of reading a bunch of fantasy books

This was a particularly shouty video of yours. I liked it though!

It's a really cool concept and I'm enjoying the characters, world and steampunk-gritty ish feel of the story!! Totally recommend it.
Anya's Ghost is a graphic novel that's pretty cute and a bit dark. Also Coraline by Neil Gaiman is creepy in the best way
What happened with the book club of the month of September? And the book talk of the last magician???
SCYTHE IS A GREAT BOOK, I LOVED IT!!
The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon. The first book is okay, second is the best and the third gets even better :D
