I use a book jar: I write the titles of my unread books on slips of paper and fold them and put them in a jar, then when I finish a book, I pick a slip of paper from the jar and I have to read the book written on it.
I do too! I have a lot of books on my Kindle which aren’t in there but I just go through my kindle library alphabetically and read the next unread one :)
I really think you should read Winter! It wraps up the series so well and is such a good read, bonus is that you finish a series with reading just one book☺️
Out of every book you've listed (including books by my all time favorite author), I strongly urge you to read Never Let Me Go ASAP. It's the kind of book that stays with you for a long time. It makes you think about ethics and society. It pulls at your heart strings and creates so much discussion on humanity. It's such a phenomenal read!
The Smell of Other People's Houses is a great winter read! I really enjoyed it. It's really different from other things I've read and I liked it more as I went on.
Don’t know about the other books but you should really read Caraval. It is so different from all the things I read and it really keeps you on the edge of your seat. I finished it in one day!
I think I picked up and read The Smell of Other People's Houses because it was in one of your book hauls. I enjoyed it, its a book that I feel like I read pretty quickly. There are multiple povs and multiple settings but I really enjoyed how the ending kind of all wrapped together and it really made you feel like the world is kind of a small place but filled with huge and wonderful people with tons of different stories.
I'm looking forward to your thoughts on The Goldfinch! It's definitely on my list of favorite books of all time (along with All The Light I Cannot See which I found through you so thank you!).
Good Omens is absolutely wonderful. It’s in my top five favorite books. As far as writing duos go, you can’t do much better than Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. And speaking of Neil Gaiman, Neverwhere! It’s brilliant and there is also a BBC radio drama with Christopher Lee, Anthony Head, James McAvoy, Natalie Dormer and Benedict Cumberbatch!
GIRL. AND I DARKEN IS AMAZING. AND THE SECOND BOOK IS EVEN BETTER. (If you love history, which I know you do, you'll love this series. It's honestly perfection)
A tale for the time being is one of my favorite books of all time. It's an easy read but is just so wonderful! It is both a gut punch and a warm hug for your soul and I HIGHLY recommend it!
The smell of other people’s house is a must read!!! It is one of the most interesting books I have ever read and it’s so filled with twists and turns and interpersonal connections that make it thrive
I have a shelf just for my unread books, my only consolation is that it's one of my smaller shelves. Regan! Read The Hate U Give! What are you even doing!? :P
I didn’t like the hate U give. I felt like it was so hyped because of the topic not the actual storyline, and it was just not like I thought it would be. I got 3/4 through and donated it.
The Bear and the Nightingale is sooo wonderful. I was waiting to see if it was one of them, so that I could tell you to read it now!! I just finished it today. It can be a little slow in the beginning, but once the main character becomes more prominent, it becomes a very magical read.
The Smell of Other People's House is a wonderful book! It'll make you laugh and cry. It's so beautifully written. 5 star read. Get on it. I feel like there should be more hype around it, but I haven't really heard that many people talk about it.
SALT TO THE SEA!!! One of my favorite books from last year! It's so charming. It will take you no time. I also just finished The Hate U Give and really enjoyed it. For non-YA, highly recommend Never Let Me Go! Also, when I was watching the Oscars this year, learned that "Ove" is actually pronounced "Oo-veh" (the more u know) Can't wait to hear your thoughts on some of these!!!
kazoo ishiguro's never let me go! it's heartbreaking and poignant and one of the most beautiful things I've ever read. no wonder he's just won the nobel prize for literature
I feel like The Way of Kings by Sanderson is one that's similar to being reluctant to reading The Name of the Wind by Rothfuss BUT it's way more worth reading Brandon Sandersons books because he brings the out so often ya know. The Stormlight Archives are my favourite of his books, I liked them even better than Mistborn.
I love the smell of other people's houses, it is one of my favourite standalones. The writing style is beautiful and I love how all the POV's weave together. As it is set in Alaska, it is a perfect winter read (in my opinion) :).
READ THE HATE U GIVE! Also I say audiobook Neverwhere!! Neil reads it himself and it’s so amazing! My boyfriend shouted READ NOVICE at me when you lifted that book up too so I’m guessing he recommends that too
The Smell of Other People's Houses is so good! It was one of my favorites of the year a couple of years ago. (Also, you have lots of other great unread books. Salt to the Sea and Rose Under Fire are at the top of my recommended list. Seraphina by Rachel Hartman is one of my very favorite books. And Winter, obviously.)
I thought i wasn't gonna be one of those people but.... you DO need to read good omens, it's so great and funny and... it's just the best of Neil Gaiman AND the best of Terry Pratchett combined! AND it's gonna come out as a TV show soooo...
city of dreaming books is amazing! fantastic! just gorgeous! walter moers writing is so creative and even though he describes A LOT in his books it still doesnt get boring... definitley a book for a cozy autumn / winter evening 😊
The Smell of Other People's Houses is such a quick read, you'll read it in a night. It was charming and perfect as is, with a lot of characters but somehow you still remember everyone. And yes, you need to read The Bear and the Nightingale! It's my favourite debut from this year. It's so rich and atmospheric and I loved the mythology it described.
BlueOtter26 in my opinion I didn't like the Sun Is Also A Star. I didn't really like the book Girl Online. I guess I don't like teen dramas or romance novels xD
Omg Regan how could you not have read the Sun is Also a Star? It's such a beautiful story. I love it. I read it in 3 days you have to read it. You'll love it. Have you ever read Everything, Everything? If you have you'll enjoy The Sun is Also a Star
Way of Kings is SO GOOD! I used to think that I should wait until the series was almost done, but I'm so glad my friend convinced me to start. It's my favorite of all time now!
How have you still not read Vengeance Road?! You've been mentioning it so much for YEARS! Get to it SOON! xD I've heard great things about The Sun is Also a Star. So I think you should read Vengeance Road, The Sun is Also a Star, The Bone Clocks, Ancillary Justice and Winter ASAP.
The Goldfinch was soooo good! I was really nervous going into it because of its length, but I loved every minute of it! It's so beautifully written as well! Also, I read The Man Called Ove for a book club and in a group of 8 people, we all loved it. It's so charming and really really funny. You should pick them up!!
I'm jealous of people who have lots of unread books. At least it shows you have more options to read. I don't 'coz books here in the Philippines are expensive af. And our libraries are very limited. They mostly contain textbooks and journals. :(
OMGOD READ GOOD OMENS It is so good! It’s like apple cinnamon butter on a hot roll! I mean it’s about losing the antichrist, it’s so funny! PLUS read nevermore and Coraline his writing is just the best.
Paige Stewart terry pratchett + neil gaiman is a match made in heaven. Also, it's going to be a tv series with David freakin Tennant as Crowley so more reason to read it.
"A Man Called Ove" is one of the most beautiful, hillarious and sad stories I have ever read. Backman's second book "My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry" is even better, and his novella "And Every Morning the Way Home Gets Longer and Longer" is definetly worth the read. Loved the video btw! :D
The Smell of Other People’s Houses is a really great book. It’s a lovely story, very heartwarming in the end. I wasn’t blown away by it, but it was a solid 4 stars. What I would call a ‘cosy read’.
Oh and the smell of others peoples houses was such a surprising read for me! It was very good. Short read but so many emotions involved!!! Definitely worth the read!!
Hi! Library at Mount Char! That book is so incredibly amazing and has such a beautiful crazy twist for the last part of the book that you will never forget. I read it about 1 year ago and have struggled to find anything as good since. Also The Romanovs is so fantastic! Not sure if you've seen the series but it parallels the book really nicely and is a fun supplement to get through it.
Can someone please recommend me a good order to read the Lunar Chronicles? Should I read Fairest after Scarlet, or after I've finished all the books? Thanks!
Sophie the Jedi Knight best order is this: Cinder, Scarlet, Crest, Fairest and Winter. They all tie together so you have read that way to understand everything
Sophie the Jedi Knight, so read them in this order. Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, Fairest, Winter, Stars Above. Which is the publication order. In my opinion you should always read a series in publication order not chronological order. Hope this helped!
You need to read Septimus Heap! It’s such a great middle grade series. It is like a mix between Harry Potter and Percy Jackson but it is unique in its own way. I’m sure you would love it!!
I recommend (and what I'm currently trying to do at the moment) finish series I already have on my self before starting more series because I have so many series that I have read the first book or the first few, but keep starting new series and it just makes it more stressful. It's working for me so far. I've already slammed my TBR 7 books on the last 6 weeks which is massive for me. Good luck!
READ SERAPHINA!!! I think it's exactly the type of book you would love. It's got such a fascinating take on dragons, court politics, "magic" powers and religion, which all feature heavily in rather unique ways and serve to make the book really memorable. I fell head over heels for this book. From your review of The Enchantment of Ravens there seems to be some similarities between dragonkind and the fae in that book, though the dragons don't have an inability to create art/music, rather, they achieve technical perfection but it is devoid of any real emotion.
The rest of ‘the Raven Cycle’ and ‘Shades of Magic’ series and ‘A Thousand Pieces of You.’ If you read ‘Neverwhere’ then follow it up with the radio play adaptation starring Natalie Dormer and James McAvoy. So good!
Donna Tartt is one of my absolute favorite authors. The Goldfinch looks daunting but I couldn’t put it down and I like The Secret History even more. She is, absolutely, a wonderful story teller.
Something that helps me realise which books I have yet to read is when I place those books at the front of my shelves. I usually doublestack my books and keep the ones I have yet to read at eye level on the front row, and that really helps in bringing to mind what I should be reading next.
If I showed every unread book I own, I might as well just be doing a whole bookshelf tour. XD
hahahaha....YES! Same here.
SAME!!!!!!
Lol same. I've read a lot of books I own, but nowhere near all of them. I buy books so much faster than I read them lol
i relate so hard!!
lol
I use a book jar: I write the titles of my unread books on slips of paper and fold them and put them in a jar, then when I finish a book, I pick a slip of paper from the jar and I have to read the book written on it.
Mandy R good idea
I do too! I have a lot of books on my Kindle which aren’t in there but I just go through my kindle library alphabetically and read the next unread one :)
You have the best idea ever
Mandy R smart
I’m tempted to do that, it would help me with my physical tbr and with my Goodreads goal
Read Coraline! You'll fly thru it and it's a great Halloween read!
Kayla Arnold I'm reading it right now! I've already read the graphic novel and seen the movie but still had to read the book!
So good for October
There is a graphic novel version of Coraline?!?! I need it!
Kayla Arnold Hahaha yes :p super cool I'm not home but bought it from amazon!
I really think you should read Winter! It wraps up the series so well and is such a good read, bonus is that you finish a series with reading just one book☺️
Tip: don't allow a book on the shelf until it's been read.
That's my rule! It's worked wonders for clearing my TBR
Sdeb132 Debruler oh that's my rule too!
I have two separate bookshelves *hides* one for finished books and on for my TBR books.
I keep mine on the bottom shelf in an unaesthetic pile if they're unread and it totally works for motivation
I do exactly the same!
I love the Raven Cycle! They also have an awesome fall/winter vibe! Highly recommend the last two books were really good!
This is making me feel guilty about my own tbr shelf😭🙃
martina gjyzari I feel your pain 😭
The Smell of Other People's Houses is a great winter read! I really enjoyed it. It's really different from other things I've read and I liked it more as I went on.
READ SALT TO SEA
Don’t know about the other books but you should really read Caraval. It is so different from all the things I read and it really keeps you on the edge of your seat. I finished it in one day!
rohat karasu Same! I loved it😂
I think I picked up and read The Smell of Other People's Houses because it was in one of your book hauls. I enjoyed it, its a book that I feel like I read pretty quickly. There are multiple povs and multiple settings but I really enjoyed how the ending kind of all wrapped together and it really made you feel like the world is kind of a small place but filled with huge and wonderful people with tons of different stories.

The Raven Cycle quartet! It's the perfect read during autumn, reading about magic and dead kings and fantastic characters under the blanket :)
I just finished Scythe and it was amazing u should definitely read Scythe, Regan
I really like this new filming location, it's so bright and aestheticaly pleasing
I feel this video on a spiritual level!! :) but I couldn't put the Raven cycle down! You should totally continue it
The smell of other people’s house is a must read!!! It is one of the most interesting books I have ever read and it’s so filled with twists and turns and interpersonal connections that make it thrive
Regan why haven't you read WAY OF KINGS YET! You need to read it ASAP! (especially with Oathbringer coming out soon in November!)
The Smell Of Other People's Houses is incredible!! So so good and it's a quick easy read!
Please finish the Raven Cycle, my favourite series of all time xx
Oh Egg and Spoon!!! I adored that book after randomly coming across it in my school library. It would totally fit the “strange” reads and wonderful.
I think you should read the rest of The Raven Cycle soon!! It's one of my favs!
The smell of other people’s houses was a really good book! Great fall/winter book and it’s quick read!
I have a shelf just for my unread books, my only consolation is that it's one of my smaller shelves. Regan! Read The Hate U Give! What are you even doing!? :P
A Bookish Balance agreed! THE HATE U GIVE...
A Bookish Balance hey same here
I just done reading The Hate You Give
I've read that and oh my goodness wasn't it incredible?!
I didn’t like the hate U give. I felt like it was so hyped because of the topic not the actual storyline, and it was just not like I thought it would be. I got 3/4 through and donated it.
I loved Caraval! Loved that the main character is so grounded despite the setting and I just. Really enjoyed it. It brought me out of a book slump.
AHHH you have to finish reading the Raven Cycle series! It’s amazing *-*
The Bear and the Nightingale is sooo wonderful. I was waiting to see if it was one of them, so that I could tell you to read it now!! I just finished it today. It can be a little slow in the beginning, but once the main character becomes more prominent, it becomes a very magical read.
'And I Darken' is a really fantastic book! I think you would love it
The novice was a favorite of mine as well! So much more to it than it seems! Great characters!
Thanks Kristin!
The Smell of Other People's House is a wonderful book! It'll make you laugh and cry. It's so beautifully written. 5 star read. Get on it. I feel like there should be more hype around it, but I haven't really heard that many people talk about it.
Agree!! More people need to read it!
i love the title what is it about?
SALT TO THE SEA!!! One of my favorite books from last year! It's so charming. It will take you no time. I also just finished The Hate U Give and really enjoyed it.
For non-YA, highly recommend Never Let Me Go! Also, when I was watching the Oscars this year, learned that "Ove" is actually pronounced "Oo-veh" (the more u know)

The Smell of Other People's Houses was great! I didn't know if I was going to like it, and now I'm so glad it made its way into my BookOutlet cart

Salt to the sea is an amazing book. I love it so much! Winter is also my favorite
You should read Caraval next, such an amazing book

The Smell of Other People's Houses is such a quick read, you'll read it in a night. It was charming and perfect as is, with a lot of characters but somehow you still remember everyone. And yes, you need to read The Bear and the Nightingale! It's my favourite debut from this year. It's so rich and atmospheric and I loved the mythology it described.
AND I DARKEN!!!!! I actually read it on a whim, but oh my god, it is incredible
Ooooo! The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding also needs to get pushed up your TBR pile! Also perfect for fall vibes!
Salt To The Sea, The Sun Is Also A Star, and The Hate U Give ASAP!!!!!!
BlueOtter26 in my opinion I didn't like the Sun Is Also A Star. I didn't really like the book Girl Online. I guess I don't like teen dramas or romance novels xD
The Bear and Nightingale is amazing!
You need to read “The Hate U Give” it’s the best book, I’ve read in 2017!
The Smell of Other People's Houses was one of my 5 Star reads this year. Beautifully written and I highly recommend it!
Omg Regan how could you not have read the Sun is Also a Star? It's such a beautiful story. I love it. I read it in 3 days you have to read it. You'll love it. Have you ever read Everything, Everything? If you have you'll enjoy The Sun is Also a Star

kim ღ I read it in no joke 3 days
I just read it! Such a great book!
It is fantastic. Yes yes yes.
Glad you guys liked it. I didn't like either but I usually read fantasy with the occasional sci-fi or thriller so it might be why.
A Tale for the Time Being and The Ghost Bride! Two of my favourite books of all time, they're both fantastic reads.
Okay. Regan. You have to read the raven cycle. No, scratch that. You want to read the raven cycle. It's also perfect for fall. Give it a thought!
Oh my lord, The Bear and the Nightingale is an amazing winter read. Definitely read it late November/December.
Finish off the Raven Cycle! It is so good T_T
Camille Guiang Same here :C

It is so good! It’s like apple cinnamon butter on a hot roll! I mean it’s about losing the antichrist, it’s so funny! PLUS read nevermore and Coraline his writing is just the best.
Good Omens. Such fun!
Paige Stewart terry pratchett + neil gaiman is a match made in heaven. Also, it's going to be a tv series with David freakin Tennant as Crowley so more reason to read it.
Third-ing good omens!
I loved "A Tale For The Time Being". That book enlightened me in ways I never imagined.
If it gets cold where you live, save the Bear and the Nightingale for a cold night and you'll devour it in a single sitting :)
kickdropacoin I agree with this so hard lol
The Smell of Other People’s Houses is AMAZING!!! I gave it 5 stars! It is beautifully written!! You should definitely pick it up ASAP
I own about 70 unread books
Samantha Blake I don't even own that many books
i have exactly 70 (i counted to make sure :p)
yup I own about 70 unread books aswell
"A Man Called Ove" is one of the most beautiful, hillarious and sad stories I have ever read. Backman's second book "My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry" is even better, and his novella "And Every Morning the Way Home Gets Longer and Longer" is definetly worth the read.
Loved the video btw! :D
YOU NEED TO READ WINTER! Is so good!
Louanne Melendez
Yes!
Watching this video reminded me of just how many stories are out there and the magic that each and every one of them contains.
Oooh Americanah!
The Smell of Other People’s Houses is a really great book. It’s a lovely story, very heartwarming in the end. I wasn’t blown away by it, but it was a solid 4 stars. What I would call a ‘cosy read’.
the hate u give!!!!!! so. good.
Oh and the smell of others peoples houses was such a surprising read for me! It was very good. Short read but so many emotions involved!!! Definitely worth the read!!
OMG YOU NEED TO FINISH THE RAVEN CYCLE!!!
Prosper Redding and Click'd were great middle grade reads. A Man Called Ove is a must, my favorite read of this year so far.
The Hate U Give is so good!
Hi! Library at Mount Char! That book is so incredibly amazing and has such a beautiful crazy twist for the last part of the book that you will never forget. I read it about 1 year ago and have struggled to find anything as good since. Also The Romanovs is so fantastic! Can someone please recommend me a good order to read the Lunar Chronicles? Should I read Fairest after Scarlet, or after I've finished all the books? Thanks!
I read Fairest before I read Winter. Seemed fine to me.

Sophie the Jedi Knight, so read them in this order. Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, Fairest, Winter, Stars Above. Which is the publication order. In my opinion you should always read a series in publication order not chronological order. Hope this helped!
I finished the first four main books and haven't read Fairest yet. Although I heard it's good to read before Winter.
Sophie the Jedi Knight read fairest after Cress because you need it to know about her for Winter
You need to read Septimus Heap! It’s such a great middle grade series. It is like a mix between Harry Potter and Percy Jackson but it is unique in its own way. I’m sure you would love it!!
Read The Hate U Give! If you are looking for a sign this is it 😆
I recommend (and what I'm currently trying to do at the moment) finish series I already have on my self before starting more series because I have so many series that I have read the first book or the first few, but keep starting new series and it just makes it more stressful. It's working for me so far. I've already slammed my TBR 7 books on the last 6 weeks which is massive for me. Good luck!
Update: The Novice is amazing I'm currently reading the second book 'The Inquisition'.
The smell of other peoples houses ❤ loved it!! Quick short read but amazing how everyone's lives come together
Caraval was a really fast and enjoyable read for me. Definitely one of my favorites this year!
READ SERAPHINA!!! I think it's exactly the type of book you would love.
