I love Eric Bell. I love his part in Lizzy the best ,I just love his playing much more than the others who played in Lizzy , plus I have his albums with Eric Bell band and solo ones and he did four with Noel redding band too ,I've even got the tribute to deep purple that Lizzy did in 73.
Eric layed quite a few flagstones in guitar music for the rest of us to work from.. An original and gifted player indeed.. And also a realy friendly guy with kind Irish eyes👌🎸🎶🐏☘️
It's been so good to here these stories from Eric. It's strange to think that I played with him on an Irish tour a few years later, playing Whiskey in the Jar, never knowing such a colourful history. I would love to meet Eric again as he is such a nice guy.
He will never be in a "top 100" list but he is great. those first 3 albums are full of quirky guitar stuff that the (classic?) albums would never have. that's not a knock on all the fantastic guitarists what would grace the band, but this guy was the most unique in my opinion.
Eric you have copied my bloody life! Ha ha. I was playing round the corner from you one night I think it was in Eskilstuna in Sweden around 97/98. I couldn’t get to see you as I was on at the same time as you. All the world to you 😊🇬🇧
Wonderful interview (Thanks Eric) with a hero of mine. Eric's too modest and he can hold his head up high for his contribution to Thin Lizzy. The Rocker that closes this part of the interview is one of the most feral guitar tracks ever recorded and still Thin Lizzy's finest hour in my opinion.
at 33:10 he brought tears to my eye's..I can't help it. those magically first three songs Philip played on that reel to reel tape... wish I knew which ones they were.. at 55:48 I have a copy of that 1st album 1st pressing and I've Always loved that first one. I hope somewhere in there is those first three songs. We Love You Eric, You are a humble caring amazing guitarist and wonderful Irish man. R.I.P Philip, Gary and Thin Lizzy. Thank you for sharing a little about your time in the Greatest Irish Rock N Roll band Ever. God Bless You, Sir..
This is awesome! In 2014 I sent Eric a video of me playing"vagabond of the western world" on my electric guitar and he actually watched it and liked it. That was very exciting. I remember he said he liked his solo in "Brought Down" and "Eire" was one of his favorite songs
OMG!!! BRILLIANT interview. I have never seen Eric Bell so animated, articulate and honest. The only complaint I have is that, despite its length, it seemed too short - he seemed to be about to share some more (albeit very personal) aspects of his life when , to my horror, the credits began to roll. Please let there be a "Part 2" 🙏🙏
the way he takes off Phil Lynott makes me laugh every time, or i was laughing about 47mins in. enjoyable interview, funny story about origins of whisky in the jar about 1hr09min in.
Well said,I bought all the back catalogue on Lizzy as I'm a lifelong fan,and I realy love the Eric bell years..I was 16 when I first loved Lizzy,I'm 62 now and they are still my favourite band.RIP PHILO x❤♠x
Still my favourite Lizzy lineup and album. I first saw them in 1973 (Penzance) and Eric was just awesome. I saw them with Gary Moore too after Eric left. What a great guy Eric is to chat to :-)
When Gary Moore done that tribute gig and Eric Bell came on stage never forget that smile on his face great
God bless you Eric Bell, I'm only now beginning to see what a wonderful person you are. These interviews are wonderful, thank you all.
The first Lizzy album should've set the world on fire.
What a great story teller Eric is and such a cool guy. Thanks Brendan
Eric Bell this is an inspiration
These interviews are archives. Just brilliant. I met Eric a couple of years ago at Feile, Thurles, Co.Tipp. A true gent.

At 42:48 when Eric said F**k Me, It's Us 🤣.

Absolutely fantastic interview. It seems like there is a lot more to be told. I'll look forward to part two.

What a cool video Eric. I played in showbands too so I know the empty feeling of not being in a original band.
Love Eric damn shame he didn’t make it big with the Lizzy’s
Brilliant Video Lads.
Love this interview such an amazing story.

Unfortunately the video footage was lost to the end but I have the audio and I’ll edit it with photos for part 2.

Brilliant from Eric
Proud to say own EB's solo London Nights disc; not a weak track onnit.
I'm amazed about his memory of all this.. Great hearing all these stories, obviously with the happy ending. Long live Eric!
The first 3 Lizzy albums are magic to me. I love the songs and the production. It has that late 60's /early 70's sound that I love.

@@samandjennysambrook you sound like a cool dude!! 😀
My favorite song of all time is Vagabond of the western world... I'm kinda weird huh? Lol 🙂
@@phillynott2459 anyone liking Lizzy songs could never seem weird to me!👍🎸
@@phillynott2459 That's a heavy song on an underrated album.
