    LIVE AND DANGEROUS is my all-time favorite album. Thin Lizzy was so good and this line-up was absolutely the best. Robertson and Gorham fit each other and Thin Lizzy like a leather glove. Phil was a giant among men. His songwriting is among the best ever. Still miss him alot.

    Its been completely blown out of proporion how much re recoding was done in the studio on live in Dangerous .
    A box set of all the shows recorded for live and Dangerous was released and I own it .
    When you compare live And Dangerous to the full Unedited shows Rexorded in 76 77 and 78 you will hear the overdubs were minimal .

    I feel blessed that l saw them at the 1977 Reading Festival, ten foot from the stage, which if I’m correct was during the L&D tour. For me, L&D is one, if not THE best live album ever recorded. In my humble opinion one of the greatest rock links from one song to another was the link between Dancing In The Moonlight into Massacre, and the middle eight of Baby Drives Me Crazy. Absolutely pure rock sounds!

    Scott was never second fiddle in Lizzy - his contribution was easily as solid as any of the other guitarists and some of his solos were/are legendary.

    • @FrozenHero2010
      @FrozenHero2010 Рік тому +2

      Scott Gorham's contribution to Thin Lizzy was understated. Sometimes he was playing second fiddle to the "mercurial lead guitarists like Brian Roberton, Gary Moore and latterly John Sykes"; but Scott made the Lizzy twin guitar sound. See 39:31 onwards.

    Jimmy started to tune to Eb when he was playing with bands with horn sections and he prefered the sound of the guitar and kept to it , beautiful to see Philomena at the start of the video , a beautiful lady with a beautiful soul , the first time I met her she came up to me after a lowly pub gig and thanked all of us in the band for keeping her sons music alive , I met her 4 or 5 times after and she remembered me every time so gracious and really made me feel blessed . I saw them by chance at the Ritz in NYC. I believe Iggy Pop was scheduled to play and when I got to the theater there was a sign saying the show was cancelled but a special surprise guest would play. What the heck I was already there and was a regular so I hung around. So glad I did!
    I stood literally belly to the stage the whole night! I was already a bit toasted when I arrived so I don’t remember too many details but I do know it was one of the best I ever saw there - out of hundreds! Some memories just feel right even when fuzzy and damn that show was fantastic!

    The half step down was also and I feel more importantly for the vocals. These guys weren't Tenor singers and when you're singing as a Baritone singing leads the half step makes a huge difference in not straining your voice when singing every night or many nights of concerts. To reach some of the high notes in 440 can be a little too much for a Baritone singer. You can pick the key which fits great when the melody is happening but if your trying to hit some higher notes in a progression that demands it and you're not built that way it's a real help.

      Brilliant album, I love it too, but it didn't capture the fans imagination or the same zeitgeist that Live And Dangerous did in '78.

    Ahead of their time,.....If they`d still been around in 1985-86 they could have jumped on the Bon Jovi/Whitesnake "Poodle Rock" bandwagon and been bigger and better than any of them.

    Downey and robertson DEFINITELY THE BEST GUITAR DUO……why? Because they balanced perfectly Gary moore put that balance right out Because he was too good for gorham “and I love Scott he is a huge favourite of mine” but Gary was a out and out genius like rory Gallagher or van halen or bonamassa a giant in term of skill tone style so the gorham/robertson years were my favourite Lizzy period because of the balance.

      tony visconti was coked n fucked outa his head most of seventies n eighties, read his auto bio, bowie, bolan n the brooklyn boy, he does think a lot of himself, brian downey , a teetoller non drug taker says visconti is full of shit, theres few overdubs on live and dangerous as downey and band were present throughout the mixing process. never trust the words of a coke head, we all know that!

    I really have had a problem with SO MANY so called "Sound men" over the years of playing that I both worked with and those I've heard from other groups! So MANY times I'll be watching a group and listening to the parts of the band and I'm seeing that say, the lead guitar part comes up and I'm seeing the player give his all playing that part BUT YOU CAN'T BLOODY HEAR IT!! Why can't the man that's supposed to be the Professional at that exact job see and HEAR that it's missing?? I've walked up to sound men in times like this before and pointed things like this out before. I don't WANT to do it. I HATE doing it. BUT when I have and do sure enough they don't say a word they just go to that fader on the board and sheepishly turn it UP!! Are they all so stoned that they don't THINK?? I say LOOK SEE THE PLAYERS?? DO YOU HEAR THEM ALL RIGHT NOW?? WHERE"S THE ACOUSTIC GUITAR THAT THE GUYS IS PLAYING?? I CAN'T HEAR A THING (I'm having to shout so they can hear me that's why the "CAPS" lol. Plus I am assuming they are DEAF so I must shout at them lol). I also know sign Language fluently or "ASL" as it's called. I've been so pissed at a Loverboy concert once that I stood in front of the sound man and signed to him about the problem of hearing the instruments or vocals as it were but of course they don't know sign. Afterwards I asked him if he understood what I said and he said No why did you think I would?? I said Because the sound was so messed up I thought you MUST be DEAF!! He told me to F-Lock off. LOL.

    Phil was one of the greatest, but your cutting out Scott and Brian, many of these tunes were very basic Ideas (seeds really) Until Scott and Brian wrote guitar parts to help build the song . Phil knew more about publishing and royalties then the guitar playeds did

    Love Thin Lizzy, but this was absolute garbage! Nothing to do with "Live & Dangerous" the album, just a handful of mostly unknowns "analysing" some parts of songs! The title is misleading! Always nice to see Phil's Mum though, I skipped through the rest as there's nothing new or revealing to see here! And it mentions "Interview with Phil Lynott" Well I must have blinked and missed that!?! Hopefully someone will do a proper analysis of the "Live & Dangerous" album and not just use the title for click-bait! Although the gig at Sydney Opera House was fantastic (most/all of the shots in this video are from that Sydney Opera House gig) However the album "Live & Dangerous" was out 6 months BEFORE they even played in Australia! Thus nothing from the Sydney Opera House gig was used on the album "Live & Dangerous" This video is just cheap, cobbled-together misleading BS!
