great banter guys nice honest chat and a bit of nice playin too with a dash of fun... like all muso,s lol
To witness Nollaig playing and singing music was an experience that was mood elevating to say the least. To be blessed with the opportunity to make music with him - (or do anything at all with him from just having a conversation or playing sports to discussing everyday life occurrences) - was as close to a spiritual experience as you could get. RIP Nollaig - above all you were an incredible person and a true gentleman.
Really enjoyed that Norman and Hugh ..........record together ,would be great .
Great idea…interview with some live playing…….Norman sounds like a guitar encyclopaedia……great playing👍
Norman, if you think not many "country" guitarists ever played much jazz, you should check out Danny Gatton! You should try and get Dick Farrelly on your show if possible Brendan.
Asked Dick before and he declined.
Enjoyed this. Thanks.
More than the greatest soul/blues singer ever - (or never?) - to "come out of Ireland". Why Rob Strong never became the internationally recognised and acclaimed singer that he should have been and deserved to be is a mystery to me. Maybe he didn't want it, or maybe he just never got that lucky break, but he's still the greatest in my humble opinion - no contest!
always nice to listen to talented muso.s here is a great one with one of irelands top players!!
Great to hear from the jazz side of life and great players like Hugh. Absolutely wonderful also for stories and pics of Johnny Wadham. I spent a great year of grabbing buses and trains every sat morning to get to Dalkey for my drum lesson with The man. The first thing he asked me to do was a double stroke roll which I had previously learnt with Jon Murray at the Dublin Drum Centre and after finishing I got the nod of approval which gave me the courage to keep turning up. We would even have tea mid way😂. The last time I met him was when Hugh played whelans backing Georgie Fame with The wad who was his imperious self. and if I remember correctly Louis Stewart , Ritchie Buckley Jim Doherty……all played in the band. This interview brought back the memories.. Jazz sessions in Slatterys basement capel street..and being refused admission to hear Louis in a pub on talbot street cause our hair was too long😂 those were the days…….great work Brendan…..keep em coming🥁👍
Great chat lads...thank you 👍
Great stuff…….keep it coming……🥁

From their website: The Business are one of Ireland’s finest and longest performing blues bands with a history dating back to 1981. Over the years the band has maintained a hard working schedule bringing the best in blues and rock to the country. Pat Farrell and John Quearney’s new album ‘The Half of it…’ is available to purchase or stream.
Fantastic John. . Rich tradition and fabulous history. Love it 💜🙏😎
Great stuff . Growing up in Dublin wanting to play music was a magical time for any kid who got the buzz to play an instrument. John described it to a tee. .rock on guys 🎶🎶💯
Thanks Brendan & John for a great insight into Early Dublin Music Scene Very Interesting and Entertaining Thanks Pat Morrissey 1:02:08 1:02:08
Love this, there's only a few of us left, brings back great memories of the colourful creative art and music golden era in Dublin
As always, Norman very much understating just one of his many incredible talents!
Great stuff Dave and Brendan...loved it!
Hi Brendan. Was the Telecaster that Nollaig Bridgeman played for a couple of years a metallic blue colour, with the various paint jobs that had been done on the guitar over the years visible on a part of the body that was sanded down. Rock on!
No Sean that’s a Harley Benton telie weighs a ton grand for studio work.
Great to see Denis CRAZY CROW a great band ,prob the best band in the country
I really enjoyed that interview with Dennis. I can relate to many of the stories told because I was around in that 'neck of the woods' at that time.
Great description of the golden era of Dublin gigs, the decline of pub culture seems to be a big factor in the current drought, of course we can never have the same scene as was inspired by Peter Green and the other guitar giants of 66 to 74.
Loved it, Denis a pure gentleman who plays with probably the best blues rock band around
Another great interview Brendan. Well done.
love this interview,,, totally honest and amazingly informative abt a muso.s life ..
nice one dave n bren great interview
Another great chat / interview Brendan, really enjoy them. Delighted to see Dave. Met and spoke to him at the Rory festival, always pleased to see him on the bill. Very friendly and easy to chat with him. Also made the trip to JJ Smythsbto see him, he had the blues for sure. Incidentally where did the scene from JJ's go, anyone able to help?
Another Rock and Roll tragic tale.
Than you all for the lovely comments, I just listened to it again, and it brought a lot stuff to mind ,in a good way ,also my family and friends at a ,wake for one our family ,they were lovin the band stories which took me by surprise,,,,,tho i was delight to find this out ps i might do one on the funny things, and other madness📻🎸🎹🎤🎷🎵🎶cheers.

Jeez Con Hynes comes across as an utter gobshite - an accordion in the Chessmen? Was the man delirious or demented?
