Wow thats exactly what i’m planning to do! The only difference i’m in online school which is sort of similar to public but i was in public school all in elementary, made friends which i haven’t seen in feels like forever. Middle school is when i started online mainly because of covid for 6th and 7th and it doesn’t help that my father has diabetes and a kidney transplant making it more of a higher risk to covid and he’s like my bestest friend to me so we hang out a lot but i decided to do online for 8th again because it would probably take along time to adjust to public school considering it’s the last grade for middle school so i’m holding it off for high school, but i’m still not sure if i’m really ready for it again. I ask myself questions like “what if the learning is different and i’ll be confused more if i go back to public school” and “how will i be able to get used to this again? will it be easy or hard?” i’ve been overthinking a lot about this, i really want to go back to see all my friends who i grew up with when i was little because online is lonely but will it be the same? I went to a elementary school that recommends to go to schools afterwards for example middle school and high school, so that’s why i know which high school my friends are going to and i’m still somewhat in contact with some of my friends from school so that also helps, i sometimes like to be super prepared because i’m deep down very nervous easily and i wonder how did the first day of high school feel like?
Sometimes I think God answers my prayers through you! The other day my aunt put me on the spot at a family get together. She told me I should put them back to school before high school. I have prayed all weekend over this subject and cried! We’ve homeschooled for 6 years and I never want it to end! Thank you for your opinion. I truly needed this! God bless you and your family!
I get asked this….a lot. Our oldest is Autistic and I really questioned if I had what it takes to educate him….the answer is that God led me to educate at home- He will supply all I need. The public education system is too close to politics and has been for a long time. That never works well. Homeschooling is hard! But so worth the cost to get Educate and protect our children’s spirits.
I knew basically right after I had my oldest that I wouldn't be sending my kids to school. I wasn't comfortable with the idea of other people (strangers) spending more time with my children than me or my husband. That was almost 7 years ago, needless to say there is no wayyyy I'd willingly send them to school now. I've had tons of comments from various people, but I never let it bother me too much. My husband and I get to make the decisions, and people can think whatever they want about the decisions we make 🤷♀️
I felt the same way. We wanted to put our kids in private school, but we were having issues with behavior in kinder and had to pull my oldest out and we turned around and put him in public school. For my husband, homeschooling was not an option at the time. Anyway, it helped us through some issues with his behavior at least for a little while and he was learning things like math reading and writing. But the last year they were in school was the year of the shut down. It was a horrible horrible year and we felt like we were back where we had started, only now I was in the office talking about 1 of 3 kids every time. If it wasn’t one it was the other. We were exhausted and then school shut down and became utter chaos. We were like, nope! We are done. This is too much chaos for us. My husband agreed it was time to homeschool. We haven’t looked back. We are happier as a family.
Wow! I did not see one textbook while my daughter was in public school through 4th grade, and that was a red flag to me, and you just confirmed that. They are hiding it from the parents! I had already realized that they had kicked parents out of the “education”, but what you said seals that. I had given the teachers the benefit of the doubt, but it is hard to do that at this point; they are complicit if they choose to teach when there is inappropriate things in the books.
@Nicole Delisi your comment doesn’t make any sense. She means that the schoolbooks that the public schools themselves use are suppressed from the parents. I had no idea what textbooks were used in the classroom/school when my daughter was in it to know which book(s) to order off of Amazon. Suppressing what all they are being taught inside the classroom, via the textbooks is one way the public school system has kicked the parents out of education. It is parents like us who wanted to be a part of their child’s education, but we were not allowed to be. When mine was in PS, only the “room moms” were allowed to attend the parties that were held. It was all sorts of things like that.
We pulled our kids out of PS when they started doing school shooter drills. It was terrifying for my girls, both of whom are sensitive, to think about someone coming to their school to try and kill them! It didn’t help matters when the school made a huge fence all the way around, so it looked like a prison. It was just such an oppressive environment for little kids. I felt like childhood is so short, kids shouldn’t have to spend most of every day being worried and upset! Homeschooling has been such a blessing for us as a family.
I feel you people was supportive at first or at least I thought. However now those same individuals are asking leading questions like “when do they get tested?” “How many quizzes do they take?” Or “How do you know their getting the material?”. I appreciate your videos Mandy and your Facebook group. Thanks for the uplifting word!
Thank you so much! Yes, that's what I have experienced, too. It's really just them projecting guilt or their own feelings on us when they ask things like that. It's honestly not any of their business. I usually come back with, "when was the last time your child was tested?", and then they see the absurdity of their rudeness.
I have had people ask about State testing. I just look at them smile and say "the method we are doing we don't do State testing. It has been a blessing for us because my oldest would have crazy anxiety over it".
I have heard maaaaaany comments about our choice to homeschool. It gets quite old. And no, I would not put my kids back in public school. Not even a private school.
The high school question always gets me. If there was a part of the school years I would for sure homeschool, it would be the high school years. Also about sports and activities, a lot of Christian private schools will allow homeschool children to participate in their spots and stuff (atleast here in texas).
I loved listening to this video. I was always asking for my kids books and notebooks to come home so that I could help them prepare for testing or so I could help with homework. I was always told things like there aren’t any notes or study guide or anything like that and that he shouldn’t need to study as they have been working on the subject for weeks. Considering that they may not have had things I would approve of in these books, I am glad he failed so many tests. However, they still passed him. That’s crazy, passing a kid that failed. Now he and his brothers are home and happy and sometimes even ask for more school. As opposed to asking me to stop. Lol
I just started homeschooling, and I suddenly realized I have no clue what she’s been learning or what she knows. As far as peer pressure goes, the girls are pressured to choose their own gender now. If you don’t, you’re not cool. Boys not so much, but girls seem to be doing it here in Nebraska. I wish I had been doing this all along but I’m glad I made this decision now. She’s in 8th grade.
I continue to be amazed at what goes on in public schools. When I think I've heard it all, I hear something else that makes me go "WHAT?!". It's truly sad.
They are doing that here in CA as well. We are in our 3rd year homeschooling and my oldest is 7th grade. When she was in 2nd she came home and told me she wasn't sure if she was a boy or girl. 😳 I told her that God made her a girl and doesn't make mistakes so she was a girl.
I agree. I will add bullying as well. My son was being bullied at age 6 for being different, I would not want to put him in that situation as a teenager.
Mine was too, and the teacher ignored it, which ultimately led to “mobbing”, which is when most of the kids stuck their pitchforks into her. They love to tell us that it takes a “village” to raise a child. I don’t want their village raising my child!
We also won’t be sending our kids back to PS! Or any other school apart from our home. Though I would be lying if I said the HS years don’t intimidate me. My kids are 10 and 7 right now
I have one daughter and I am a covid homeschooler/used to be nurse, I left nursing in March of 2020, I took my girl out because I was aware of pandemics, having some dealt with some death already within the family during this has also determined my decision on that, whether people agree with that or not is another subject. I also was already leery of what she was learning in public schools, we are only in the second year of this and I chose Abeka, as I heard the best about them, and not being willing to fly yet on my own, needing the structure of them right now, also I am overseas with military spouse. So after all of that, I love how she's adapted to it and it's been a great choice so far for us.
Same here, military spouse and nurse, left them bedside May 2020 to homeschool while my husband was deployed and we haven’t gone back!! I honestly have no desire to go back to nursing nor do I have a desire to put the kids back in public school but I still have an internal daily struggle of letting my career go to waste.
I’m an HSLDA member for a year now ! But I have no idea what to use it for . Please make a video on this membership! I didn’t know about the transcripts !
Haven't tried it, but some parents use their HSLDA card to get teacher discounts. My mom used them when our neighbor (PS principal) gave her grief about homeschooling us kids.
Public school graduation requirements do not apply to homeschoolers in most states. In my state, the parent is even responsible for issuing the diploma.
I’ve been fortunate (so far!) to only have positive responses to our decision to homeschool our daughter. This is our 3rd year and if you would’ve asked me then if we’d ever send her back to public school I would’ve answered, “maybe, if she decides she wants to some day”. Now? No way. I would look into other options possibly, but thankfully she loves homeschooling and has no interest in stopping. 👍❤️
We are barely in our second year and it’s just 1st grade and 3rd grade but even us as secular homeschooling we have no plans on sending our kids back to traditional school. We had them in private school and I personally went to private and public nope no doing it. My girls are enjoying their childhood and love learning. We get to explore at age appropriate and my kids are doing way better that I ever did handling both Spanish and English in all subjects which is so amazing to watch them switch from both languages in any situation they are in. We had family members not really want us to homeschool since it not something common and now they are so supportive it so sweet when they bring the girls books or fun projects to do.
We just started homeschooling so still have 12 years or so before she graduates highschool. However, I did start looking into how she can graduate (without going to public/private school). More so on how she can go into college/university if she chooses to pursue in a profession that requires a degree. There are ways around it that aren't as hard as I thought. We're in Canada and homeschooling is legal but if u homeschool the traditional way (opt out of school system, parents do all the teaching, picking out curriculum etc) you cant graduate highschool and show a transcript to get into college. We have an Online Learning option where you get assigned a certified teacher that monitors ur progress and at younger years parents still teach their own kids. This method kids can graduate with a transcript. That is still part of the "system" and i dont wanna have my kid a part of that.
HSLDA all the way!! We also use NCHE which is for North Carolina but they are amazing too. They have a yearly conference and graduation ceremony with a beautiful diploma. Anyway, no we won't put our kids in public schools. Our oldest is a senior and he joined the army. I was afraid of the whole transcript filling out stuffs ... It really is not hard or intimidating at all!! You're so on point, great video!
Not from NC but I am assuming that is distance learning? I'm biased as I do some distance learning but I do think it's a good compromise between attending a brick and mortar school and homeschooling.
I get slack from family also but it doesn't bother me. With the steady decline of public schools right now, that would be a no for me. Not to mention our current craziness....
I agree with you 100%. I have had 3 kids go through public schools. (I homeschool my two youngest). Some of the content I have seen, (even in a high conservative area), is appalling. I wish i would have homeschooled my older kids. Thank you for this.
I spent years trying to figure out how to homeschool my granddaughter. God placed a calling on my heart to homeschool her. It would take an act of God to make me put her back in public school.
I have no plans. If anything ever happens to me he probably will go to school. Our state/ small town I think we can only do private Taekwondo or gymnastics. Lots of money.
Love you! Thank you ❤️ You've always been such a great support with our kids' education and I can't thank you enough for it. It's always meant the world to me.
Our son wanted to go back to public school and we let him. However, we are regretting it. He’s facing bullying and I’m not seeing much learning. I’m trying to convince him to come back to homeschooling but he’s determined to be independent and go to school 🤦♀️ What’s your advice on this? Do we let him make the choice or do we as parents make the choice for him. It’s so hard
If it were me, it would be up to my husband and I. Although we take our child's requests to heart, we ultimately make the decisions. I can't imagine how hard that must be for you to see him go through that.
Take him out mama. It’s your job to protect him for as long as you can. Would you let him go off to war unprepared and unprotected? The public school system is training them up in the way the government thinks they should go, it’s not a fair fight and their precious minds no matter what age need solid teaching and truth. I’m sorry you’re going through this.
I am in a similar situation..my 13 year old makes comments almost everyday that it's not fair that I wont let him go back to school and that I'm not giving him a reason for why I'm homeschooling (even though I do give him reasons) he says that if he goes to school again he can get an actual education and he can actually have friends. This is our 2nd year homeschooling and I do not want him to go back for all the reasons mentioned in this video and more. It's so hard and I don't want him to fight him on it and I dont want to make him miserable it's so difficult!
@@jesusisking9223 I feel your struggle. Our son is 4th grade and I’m leaning toward just pulling the plug and making the decision for him. We try to listen to and consider our children’s feelings but this situation may be different. It’s hard. Especially with friends/family telling you, “he needs this” or “this will make him grow.” It feels like being between a rock and a hard place
Totally agree! Also I'm disabled and as a result things have been VERY bad financially for the last 3 years so I have not been able to join HSLDA even though I REALLY want to. I swear I thought I heard you say there's a$10 membership? I've only seen it well over $100 and we just don't have that money, unfortunately that's pretty much my entire annual homeschool budget LOL Anyway maybe I heard wrong but girl let me know if I didn't ❤️ But yes in this day and age is a constant daily battle to protect our kids from this world. No way am I willing to put my 7 year old son in a public school environment, way too much being pushed on them that is not Biblical.
You get it through the state. It's an easy application. You submit a transcript and the state will mail documents to you. Easy! You can see your specific state requirements at HSLDA.org
Hi Mandy ☺️ I’m a long time follower/subscribe to your channel. I’ve been homeschooling my 3 boys since the beginning and am thinking of mfw for next year. You were the first person I could think of to ask this question- of placement! Next year my boys will be in 6th,3rd,1st. I want to do ECC with them next year, but if I do that my oldest will only do ancient/world history for 2 years before studying it another 2 years in high school. Or If we skip 🙈 ECC and start in with creation to Greeks he would at least get 1 year of early American history in before jumping back into ancient/world history. What are your thoughts? I really don’t want to skip ecc as I know it would be a fun year for all, and it would allow my 1st grader to get a tad older before diving into history 💙 Thank you so much for any insight!
With everything happening in schools today. If someone of greatest importance in my life asks: I will pull out the videos of parents fighting in boards meeting right now. I bet there will be no more questioning.
The other argument I hear from people is why not put ur kids in Christian schools. At least they teach things that align with the bible. Well for one its super expensive. And then now at least in Canada where I am, they are slowly implementing (the stuff u wish not to talk about) those things into the school. The curriculum may still be Christian but they're adding all these other things. I think private/Christian schools are getting pressured by the public school system and/or they get some funding so need to comply. And personally I dont like the idea of a institutionalized school setting. One hour max a day to play outside, 20 mins to eat lunch, etc sounds like prison to me. Don't get me wrong, we have a routine at home and routines are good especially for younger kids to thrive but not set to the hour or limiting how long she can eat. Plus God gave us kids so we can raise/teach them not send them off at 5 years old for 6-8 hours a day to be taught and influenced by society.
After being a homeschool parent, would you ever consider putting your kids back in public school?
Nope. Especially with all that came out about hidden curriculum agendas during the last year. No way!
My kids aren't old enough to go to public school, but it's a no for me. I'm a former public school educator and I know too much about agendas to send them to public school.
As long as the Lord provides a way for us to homeschool, I wouldn't put my kids into public or Christian school.

If parents knew what was in half the textbooks today, they'd have a fit.
Right there with you. 💯 agree with all your points. I would NEVER send my kids to public school. Immediately NO.
Lol
I completely agree with all you said! I don’t plan on putting my kids in public schools.
Me either cause my boyfriend & I have been talking about this , Both agreed to keep them home even as toddlers, Preschool,
Feature kids
I just started homeschooling, and I suddenly realized I have no clue what she’s been learning or what she knows. As far as peer pressure goes, the girls are pressured to choose their own gender now. If you don’t, you’re not cool. Boys not so much, but girls seem to be doing it here in Nebraska. I wish I had been doing this all along but I’m glad I made this decision now. She’s in 8th grade.
I continue to be amazed at what goes on in public schools. When I think I've heard it all, I hear something else that makes me go "WHAT?!". It's truly sad.
@@mandy-maltz no kidding! I totally agree.
@@lorimast Nope 👎 my feature kids re not going either. Same sex history, & sex Ed in public school I think not .,
They are doing that here in CA as well.
ABSOLUTELY , 8 min mark!!!! Love your honesty, it is so true
We also won’t be sending our kids back to PS! Or any other school apart from our home. Though I would be lying if I said the HS years don’t intimidate me. My kids are 10 and 7 right now
It was scary for me, too. But now that I'm 3 months into 9th grade, it's not as bad as I made it out out to be in my head.
Military spouse here, too! Honestly, it's made military life easier to homeschool!
This is the same in Ohio.
Thank you, Sabrina!
Hi Mommas. We are in NC too. 😊
Not from NC but I am assuming that is distance learning? I'm biased as I do some distance learning but I do think it's a good compromise between attending a brick and mortar school and homeschooling.
What is HSLDA??
@@BH-jy3bc it's the Homeschool Legal Defense Act
I agree 💯. Thank you for your videos. They are very encouraging ❤
Aw thanks! I'm so happy to hear that!
I get slack from family also but it doesn't bother me. With the steady decline of public schools right now, that would be a no for me. Not to mention our current craziness....
I agree!
I needed this little boost today. Thanks!
Completely agree with you.
All of the truth in this video! Thanks.
I have no plans. If anything ever happens to me he probably will go to school. Our state/ small town I think we can only do private Taekwondo or gymnastics. Lots of money.
Supporting you 💯! Always
Love you! Thank you ❤️ You've always been such a great support with our kids' education and I can't thank you enough for it. It's always meant the world to me.
Our son wanted to go back to public school and we let him. However, we are regretting it. He’s facing bullying and I’m not seeing much learning.
I’m trying to convince him to come back to homeschooling but he’s determined to be independent and go to school 🤦♀️
What’s your advice on this?
Update: we took steps today to return to homeschooling. 🙌🏻
How do I get a certificate for my son that he completed his first grade from homeschool??
Thank you for the video
Totally agree! Also I'm disabled and as a result things have been VERY bad financially for the last 3 years so I have not been able to join HSLDA even though I REALLY want to. I swear I thought I heard you say there's a$10 membership? I've only seen it well over $100 and we just don't have that money, unfortunately that's pretty much my entire annual homeschool budget LOL
Anyway maybe I heard wrong but girl let me know if I didn't ❤️
But yes in this day and age is a constant daily battle to protect our kids from this world. No way am I willing to put my 7 year old son in a public school environment, way too much being pushed on them that is not Biblical.
When I looked at the website awhile back it was definitely more than $10. It's expensive.
But how come the get the high school diploma if the don't go to high school is my question ???
You get it through the state. It's an easy application. You submit a transcript and the state will mail documents to you. Easy! You can see your specific state requirements at HSLDA.org
Hi Mandy ☺️
I’m a long time follower/subscribe to your channel.
Or
If we skip 🙈 ECC and start in with creation to Greeks he would at least get 1 year of early American history in before jumping back into ancient/world history.
What are your thoughts?
I really don’t want to skip ecc as I know it would be a fun year for all, and it would allow my 1st grader to get a tad older before diving into history 💙
Thank you so much for any insight!
This sort of feels like click bait for the title. You seem really passionate about homeschooling and wouldn’t stop that right now
Not click bait, it's the question I'm asked at least once a month by people. From the comments, it seems like a LOT of people are asked the same one.
With everything happening in schools today. If someone of greatest importance in my life asks: I will pull out the videos of parents fighting in boards meeting right now. I bet there will be no more questioning.
SO TRUE!
I totally agree with you!
We started homeschooling because of COVID and we’ll being go back to public school at some point.
Public school kids are learning some absolute garbage. And you can see that garbage come out in their behavior.
1000% yes!
Nope not my state NJ homeschoolers not allowed in public school sports or band typical democratic. Unfortunately
How do I get a certificate for my son that he completed his first grade from homeschool??
