Hi Laura. I commend you for taking this challenge. We understand how hard it is to adjust because of the drastic change in your life style even just for 3 days. I would bet not many westerners would last this challenge even for a day. You should give yourself more credit because you are doing amazing.

I really love this family. So simple and down to earth. Happiness is doing simple things together as a family. I congratulate John for having influenced Lora primarily adopt to the Filipino way of life and love it even when they were still in the US and together the have taught their kids the Filipino culture.

I used to do what you're doing whenever I take my bakasyon during summer. I stay at our palaisdaan in Pola. And to make our life a bit easier, I planted veggies. Palaisdaan is almost self sufficient except for rice. We even installed a poso so that we dont need to igib sa bayan w those heavy containers and do our laba. I also fish for our food. Hardest part is repairing those (i forget what they're called) by tambak & carrying those big blocks of mud. That was years ago. I missed Mindoro. Always ingat on your adventures, kabayan.
