Picked up my GT this week after a small wait for the colour I was after (black( and so far will say I am extremely impressed. I did look at the GTI, Megane RS and i30N as well as drove the N-Line Hyundai. Value for money it came to the N-Line and the GT but for me, I found that the GT just had far more personality than did the N-line and I feel a car's personality is important to whether I enjoy it or not. The GT has the burble of the exhaust which brings a smile, the harsher ride that some complain of I absolutely love as for me , it is not harsh in any way and the road noise mentioned I want to hear. Silence and quiet is for me a removal of personality and while yes, some want it, many do not. I enjoy the road noise, the motor noise and the fun of hearing that the car I am driving is working. None of it is intrusive to me and in the end, I may be 54 but the GT makes me smile and have fun, brings back memories of younger days when cars made noise and you knew you were driving. The N-line was a very good car to drive but it made me feel 54 as it was quieter, looked like something a person my age would drive but it did not give me a smile at the end, plus those damn red seat belts look so garish.
I would suggest the VW golf is superior in all regard be it eng ,build , ride and handling ,tech, but the Cerato will be far more reliable long term .The Cerato I would own long term the golf once it hit close to 100000 km dispose of it.The Cerato GT is 95% performance of a golf GTI at 20k less
How can that be the case if the Kia is more reliable? Yeah the "performance" may be a tad better - doesn't mean any of those features are "better" if they aren't reliable. Very debatable.
I have had mine for almost 2 years and it is awesome. I don't understand why you tend to go for wants? Bigger engine, more power, better interior. Man, that just adds up to more money. Doing a review and comparing to other cars, you should also talk about how much more the other vehicles will cost with all the extras that the Cerato has included in the price. Also, Kia/Hyundai will bend over backward to fix any problems if they occur. The VW Groupe is one of the worst for after-sales service. Do a bit of studying before your next review.
Thanks for the feedback. Was looking at this as the top of the range GT Cerato. It's not a GT-Line, so I thought there could be room to really lean into the GT badge, just like what they do with the Stinger.
@@ProductReviewCars Mario is right... here in Canada it is only worth 31k, however the competitors are: ILX(39k CAD slower and outdated platform), Civic Si(36k, weaker tech and slower), Civic Hatch Touring(37k, slower, weaker tech), Golf GTI(OVERPRICED AT 38k for the Autobahn), Corolla Apex(Glorified base corolla at 30k, weaker tech, extremely outdated and slower!), Mazda 3 AWD Non-Turbo(OVERPRICED AT 35K and much slower)... They're all either weaker, less spec'd or much more overpriced! I think you missed the point of where this thing stands in the segment. Good product information review, though... nothing more.
just ordered a GT LIMITED 2022 here in Canada.. awesome car/value as it is actually yes, plus its all fun.. but a 2.0L GDI turbo trim would be much appreciated in 2023+ ... making it a full-fledged GT, and a reason to return mine to dealership over a peppier 2.0T
Wow - your fuel economy was out. 9 months in I am getting 8.5l per 100 around the city. Driving in a spirited way sometimes! Highway I am usually getting down to the 5's
Looking to replace my mkV GTI and this seems to be about the perfect thing to do that. Lots more tech and features, slightly larger, about the same power, etc. What do you think?
Certainly not as dynamic as the GTi, and will feel slightly slower. However, it has more space and obvious has a lot more safety tech. If you like driving, keep the GTi. If you want more comfort and space, get the Kia :)
@@ProductReviewCars Thanks! I do still love slipping behind the wheel of my GTI even though it’s 15 years old now. I’ve kept up the maintenance on it and that’s paid off. Puts a smile on my face every time the boost kicks in and off we go. Still, hard to believe that even with BMW tuning, the Kia isn’t somehow better than a three generations older GTI! Nice work Volkswagen!
@@ProductReviewCars slower? these are doing 14.5 1/4 miles on roads. 0-100 in 6.6 and as low as 6.3. faster than a mkV it even has a higher power to weight ratio.
All Rio models are under 100kw and aren't really in either category. Good vid though and I'm seriously considering the Cerato gt but I'm not quite sold on the look. It looks kind of weirdly bulky from the side
Driving one and I truly can't get enough of it

Nicely written! And thanks for the info

It's a fair call. I would be keen to test out a new Mk8 Golf to really see if it's still superior today. But, you can't beat a 7 year warranty.

I’m just gonna say it … I’m a sucker for a flat bottom steering wheel. Hook line and sinker right there

It would be so cool if they used some parts from the i30N to make it a little hotter.
I also live in Canada and ordered a 2022 gt limited in white. I can't wait to get it. Can I ask how are the stock tires?
Fabulous car to live with!
Awesome to hear! Was a lot of fun to drive for the week.
Love your channel
Thank you!!

Is the throttle response good on these? I have the RIO GT 2022 and I’m looking to upgrade. Cheers
It's respectable. Like nothing too laggy.
This is one of the sexier and better looking cams on the market, surprised I’m the first to mention it. And no that’s not a typo ;)

The only question is can I drive it on a provisional licence 🤩
It's approved in all states here in Aus by the looks of it.
i have Kia Cerato, but it is from 2001
Lol
Dont agree with the 3/5 for the interior
:(
Kia have a strong 2.0T, would buy one if they gave us that other 400cc's, would be a big winner. great looking car.
What's so exciting about a VW of the same price???
???
It's not a competitor to the golf, more of a competitor to the polo gti.
I think that would be a job for the Kia Rio?

Sorry but ugly car very ugly looking shape
Can be a little angular for some
