I'm in the industry and have the pleasure of sampling plenty of different new cars and these are one that I am always surprised have never received the praise that I thought they deserve. One of these as a daily that you can still enjoy on the weekend makes a lot of sense.
I have had my my22 since December 21. It’s a tremendous little car, versatile in drive for around town, holds its own on long freeway drives and good fun in sport mode on the twisty bits … A bit of torque steer, which took me a bit to get used to having come off rear wheel drive Love the sun roof, clean layout for instruments and the steering wheel is awesome … Hatch is good access and in spite of what reviews say, I wouldn’t change anything on it Just a great little car as it is, 👍
Can lose your licence in any car mate. I’ve got a 900hp evo in my garage and a cerato gt as my daily. Can lose my licence the same in either, sure the cerato isn’t a race car but it sure isn’t a slouch either! Can’t get much more fun with that type of fuel economy in anything in aus right now.
Just picked up mine 2 days ago...new.....Ive driven and still currently own a HSV and it reminds me when they first started off.......The Cerato GT is certainly a Car ahead of its time and like the Stinger will be a future collectable vehicle in the 25 years or so.....

This car has a brilliant balance between daily driver and grippy toy, loved your review and I hope people get out and test drive them, they're genuinely excellent 😊
Got one of these last year, have since put new intake, blow off valve and a cat/res delete with better muffler, sounds SWEET and I love it. It's a shame its being replaced. If it wasn't for the 7 year warranty I'd consider more engine mods but dont want to mess with it _too_ much. Shoutout to Cherry Tuning in Sydney, have great parts for these cards.
Ive quite taking a liking to these things recently. This is actually one of the most decent looking modern cars to come out, and the fact it looks to perform very well is making me thinking if i were to buy a 4 banger hatch back id be looking at one of these
I currently own the MY23 model as my daily driver, and I must say, its amazing. The performance is really decent and is surprisingly quick, the exhaust has a really nice sound, its not loud but the upshift heard from outside the car sound amazing, it also pops and bangs when started up and revved after warming up the engine, overall its a really underrated car in its class. Im considering selling it in a couple of years for the next generation i30n sedan as i want a more sport oriented car and i just love the i30n's, but for those who need a borderline hot hatch but really practical and well equipped hatchback, the Cerato GT should definitely be near the top of your list.
A few years ago I drag raced my mates i30 SR in my VA WRX, which is what they were called before they transitioned over to being called N Line which shares the exact same specs as the Cerato GT, 1.6 turbo with a 7spd DCT, however I’m not sure if there are any gearing differences between the cars, however they are basically bang on being the same car overall. I was extremely shocked at how quick it was, it kept with me and we were bang on dead even in a roll up until we started reaching ridiculous speeds of over 140km/h+ before I finally started slightly pulling ahead, I thought I take him easily without a sweat knowing the Wrexy had almost 50kW and 100Nm extra over it, even from a stop at the lights if we both just mash the throttle with a “street start” style he has the jump on me before I gain on him, the only time I ever left him for dead was when I launched the WRX off the line but other than that the 1.6T in the i30 is very identical to a 2.0T engine in terms of performance, he told me he even beat another guy who at the time had a Kia Optima 2.0T with 180kW/350Nm which I also found a shock, I guess the DCT in the i30/Cerato was geared better than the standard 6spd slushbox in the Optima.
Fun car. Someone tried to race me in one of these only a week ago from a dig at the lights. It’s seems better in twisty stuff through the gears than from a dig. It looked like it was short shifting and took 3 gear changes to 100? Strange it didn’t go to redline. I remember a mate of mine taking me for a drive in his Pulsar SSS some time ago and saying… “this 1.6 turbo is making the same kind of power my S15 was making from a 2.0”(about 150kw). When you think of it like that it puts into perspective.
Best Driving Review ever of the CGT. Bought 22 GT Sedan two years on still shocked with the Bang for Buck always running full synthetic Mobil 1 98Ron and when it's in the right mood there's definitely Turbo over Boost
I heard a cerato gt with an exhaust and tune (the 1.6t is a bit underpowered but very well balanced) itsounded great and you could hear the dct shift. Kia, Hyundai and genesis are making leaps for car enthusiasts at this very moment. Keep up the vids Johnny.
Just sold our's due to having to wait seven weeks for a starter motor. Shame because it's a good little car and really good on the open road. The big negative for me was the road noise was really bad the main reason I wouldn't have another one.

You should try out the Kia Pro_ceed GT. Only made around 700 of them from 2014-2015. Still has the 1.6t but has a 6 Speed manual and weighs less. I think it was the first hot hatch out of Korea. Very similar driving Dynamics to I20N but at about half the price on the second hand market!

Proud owner of the 2022 GT sedan here. People often get confused when they’re in the cabin and realise the sound coming out of a Kia…😅 I love it, oh and doesn’t hurt to have a 7 year warranty either. Very happy camper. :)
I own a 22 GT Sedan and it is by far my favourite car to own. Honestly the best 0-100 times I've achieved from this were from sport mode and planting my foot. Trying to brake torque it doesn't work and just wears away at the dry clutch DCT. Between 91 and 98 fuel there is a small performance difference I measured a year ago from GPS of around 0.5s so if you're doing 7.2s 0-100 best, it'll drop to like 6.7s best. I noticed the change takes effect after a short highway trip (I think 10 mins?) after changing octane but nothing in the manual. It'll spin through first (or "hop" lol) and part way through 2nd in sport mode on a good road with my Michelin PS5. FYI don't use sport in the rain when using WOT - bloody thing slams gears and you'll just fight TC and spin for ages lol.

@@RossReviewsau i knew that hahaha 🤣
A better exhaust and air induction would be nice
....and yet Kia REFUSES to provide it with manual transmission...hey thanks so much for sharing!
Yeah a manual would be awesome! Thanks for watching.
Been clued on to these since 2022 best affordable daily car man. Can drive it spiritedly and you’re not a target for the popos
They are good cars
hell yeah lad !
😤💪
Off topic but geez...Kia shows some balls by going after the ute market. The Korean companies have a more fun attitude in some ways.
yes the new Ute is on the way they say
Hyundai have ute but never came to Australia.Hyundai Santa Cruz
I wonder how it compares to an i20N. Similar money
Pretty similar I would say but this has more room
Got to say....yep...from a huge car enthusiast...not a fan of a car that screams Gen Z. It's a no from me.
Can’t knock it till you try it bro.. I wouldn’t buy one but no question it’s quick in the mountain
@@RossReviewsau mmm it's more about computer chips, too much can go wrong. I'm more a boomer car lover, 70s and below.
13:18 Probably the worst thing you can do to this transmission.
Which road is this?
Annnnd, it's quicker to 100KPH than those $100k plus built motors you've also tested on the channel!
Some 👀😭
Reckoned you'd be smart enough (clearly not) to realize that in these reviews, it's a typical public road surface. My point is that those big engine builds simply cannot maintain proper traction due to their massive power outputs, hence why less powerful vehicles are often quicker.@@kresnik_ss
i know where you were driving it mount white the bridge across m1
I30 N are $50k cars not $70k 😅
Not quite 70 my over reaction but you can see them in the 60s on road!
I30N hatch, DCT Premium with sunroof, with on roads are $65k +
Add optional OZ wheels, track day brake pads, etc and would be not much change from $70k
@Hapkido82AUS dang bro. Your dealership must have some crazy mark ups.
Sounds like it needs a tune
Definitely
If this pleasantly surprised you then the Sonata N Line will shock you even more.
They are good too
Heads crack though over 120k.
😵💫 lucky 7 year warranty I guess
Absolute shitbox driven many…
Auto issues with the clutches and clunking, noisy engines, super bouncy suspension. 2/10
Not sure what you where driving.. they are firm in town like I said, I’m not an expert on reliability but no question this was QUICK on a B road
Drive this few times, is comfortable car . Hate the fakey exhaust sound . Is expensive for 40k$.. if you want something for 40$l.. I suggest get WRX or sti. 😊
They don’t make the STI anymore.. especially not for 40k.. it’s actually well priced considering what you get and that’s on road not before..
Remove the stupid fake intake speaker, and do a centre resonator delete and these sound great with no drone and a top note on just the stock exhaust!
Cerato GT easily the best value performance car under $40k
i would agree they have huge potential and hard to beat the price tag nowadays
Build this crap here with a Ford or Holden badge and I might be interested.
Ford is Rubbish reliability too and Holden didn't build anything Quality after 2017 onwards
If only 😓 and a V8 please
@@dalesmith4985 Yeah, because that's what I was actually worried about. Cheers.
You making excuses for it ,
You did not sell me on it .
It's not what you do .

Ok Boomer
The only valid Kia’s are gt line carnivals and stingers the rest are women cars
Stinger is gone 🥲 this actually has merit man
@@RossReviewsau the stingers gone wtf
Women cars ? Grow up
@@emmamcgrath932 carnivals are HECTIC
@@emmamcgrath932Richie drives a clapped out vt commodore for sure 😂
How sad... Once upon a time not long ago 40k got you a brand new Sv6. Now ya get a hatch front wheel drive shit box that will spit a motor at 100k.
I would bet that you're trashing a car you've never even sat your backside in. You want a Kleenex??
