- Car battery terminal shim used to repair loose connection on positive terminal. The loose battery connection caused problems with the battery, alternator, starting.
disclaimer: I talk slow, especially as it gets colder from about September-April, so watch it at a faster speed if you're short on time.
Best advice ever! I thought I was going to have to replace the entire connector. This solved the problem thank you so much
@@patricks.8361 FYI, if this is the problem, keep an eye on it. It has a way of being a repeat issue.
Thankyou for making this video. My 2011 honda odyssey just had the same issue, $2 can for the shim from napa parts and a 5 minute fix.
Thanks again 👍
It’s DC voltage to the voltage rides around the outside perimeter so that thing Hass to be but tight on the perimeter you can’t just make a little mark connection it’s gotta be solid❤😊
Thanks for sharing this! Had the same issue on my 2009 Odyssey. Just put a shim on today and its nice and tight now!
Thank you. Didn't know about the shims. The terminals are absolute garbage from honda. Was gonna stick a drill bit in there to get it snug.
I tried copper (conductive) tape first, and made a shim pretty much...and ended up working on it on the side of the road just about. That's when I found a video that mentioned the shims
Same problem with my terminal. I think this is why my battery died. Going to charge it and put shims on. Hopefully my alternator is still alive 🙏🏼
Did it work for you? Or did you have to do the alternator too? A friend of mine had the same thing happening on their 2009 Odyssey, but the alternator had to be replaced too.
@@mnmurph I replaced the positive terminal post and didn't it fix the prob. After I replaced the alternator I fixed the problem
@@ceezauto213 I think that by the time the problem starts acting up it's because the alternator is finally dying from the extra stress the poor terminal connection causes. The loose terminal is maybe one of those things Honda should do a Recall for.
@@mnmurph in my case. The last Mechanic Installed the valve cover gasket incorrectly and leaked oil right on to my alternator. But the bad Terminal seems likely for you
@@ceezauto213 oh man, sorry to hear that. Thanks for sharing. Did the first mechanic fix it for free?
Tell me about it mines the same way it’s flawed I’m gonna try your video and fix it tomorrow❤😮
That’s what killed mine not to mention there was a tiny oil leak they caught my alternator on fire several weeks later and there’s barely 100,000 miles on the odyssey thousand 13😢
Oh man, sorry to hear that. Darn cars
Did you experience any stalling due to this problem?
Yes
Save yourself some time and go to parts store and get battery post shim.
