I didn’t have this shim so I took some aluminum foil and folded it over a few times. Then I placed it around the terminal and it fit tightly and did not move. It started right up.
I replaced my battery last month and now my car completely dies sometimes when i turn it off. I believed the problem might be a loose terminal so i inspected it. The negative terminal won’t tighten. I will buy this and try it.
Regarding being careful when wrenching on the positive terminal: Even better would be to disconnect the negative terminal first. That’s how I was taught: Don’t touch a wrench to the positive side without first disconnecting the negative side.
That’s great thank you those are exactly what I was looking for. I had seen other guys cut pieces of thin sheet metal or tin. What I had used was a hose clamp that I cut the screw part off and wrapped the rest around the post, but it wasn’t working so well, I’m going to get a package of those post enlargers. I apologize for saying this, but I do want to add that instead of dielectric grease I use NOCO cleaner and it also identifies the acid by turning red and after I clean the battery and the post I used step two which is a different spray that is similar to a PB blaster or kroil to protect the battery posts and connections. It works really well.
Dielectric grease is often sold at the register as “bulb grease” wherever you might buy replacement headlights and such. That’s where they have little packs that you tear open and use like a ketchup or mustard packet… instead of buying a whole tube for something you rarely use.
That's what I was about to do. Didn't know if I should drill a hole from the side or just go between post and clamp. I have used screws to tighten my battery before, to fix a hole in a tire in a pinch and I've used concrete nails as shims for a wheel alignment. That lasted 5 years perfectly. There's always a cheaper, easier way to do things.
I always enjoy a good scripted informative video. Thanks guys!
Thx lol

Thanks for the heads up, I have never seen nor heard of the terminal shim's before! These are the kind of videos, I believe, was meant for UA-cam.
Best battery shim video I checked. Funny.

I had this problem with my Honda Odyssey after replacing with a new battery. It's fixed the loose battery connections problem. Thanks for this video.

Correct didn’t want to risk having to redo the positive terminal as well since it was working
But you are correct

Probably a good idea to sand and grease the top of the terminal too in case it has any contact with the top of the shim.
That was not my problem, but that was entertaining 😂😂
This could of been a 30 second video.
What fun would that have been, though?
Not our fault you have the attention span of a two year old toddler.
* Could’ve*
They want to practice their acting career
They’re Canadian what do you expect
Thank you for your help and God bless you

Ahahahah thx
Lol I was about to buy a whole new alternator just like I brought a new battery 🤦🏽♂️ now I know
Man same
Dude was about to leave to his hair appointment… with the passenger door open. ;)
Lol
Good eye 👁️
Does it matter if your battery post are brass?
the way they talk reminds me of when i lived in the Yoop (upper peninsula of michigan)
Dude its about night now I think you missed the appointment!
Going to give this a try .I'll be back with an update .
So did it work?
Bro got electrocuted.😮
so buy a battery post shim, got it.
Lol exactly me today. Literally no crank even though it's only -5. Now debating whether I walk to go buy some shims, or wait to use my mom's car.
Just wiggle determiners around you can usually get them going enough to go pick up some shims, Napa sells shams
screw a screw into it 👍

It was obviously too big when you just lifted it off 😂 id crush it closed a bit or use a smaller size or you're gonna have problems
My question is how it's light outside but at the end video it's nighttime?
We kept putting off fixing it till a few minutes before sunset.
I was going to drill a small hole and add a screw.
Or you can make your own shims..just cut a small diameter copper pipe in two ..
This is elephants tail problem. Tiny but could make you replace a lot of expensive parts 😡
Lol it’s night time nobody doing hair that late 💀
Man ..............lol m
Hopefully that's not the real way he talks , smh
Junk
As a woman, I’m still so scared to do this. I’m pacing around my house holding a wrench contemplating how much I ACTUALLY need to fix my car lol
You got this
Girl
Me tooooo
You girls got this
Did it work? 🙏🏿
Canadians lol 😊
