Ye, the orange was let's say... A bold choice. I'm sure there's someone out there who loves it though, if not they can always give it a quick coat of paint. :D
Honestly John, no sarcasm, no joking around.... You should give away the 5-Minute Coffee Table. By itself, it's a conversation piece. And, would look good in a small apartment.
Its nice to see that the comments on this one are nice lol shows that the community is just very honest lol his stone table blew chunks and everyone let him know, but these were awesome and we are letting know that as well. Just cool to see its not negativity just for the sake of being negative.
Honestly, the 5 minutes one is my fave, I enjoy the simple and kinda of industrial design, it goes well in any minimalist design and it still is natural wood, so it brings some sofistication to it. I've seen a bunch of people spend good amount of money into furniture pieces just like that.
I like the five minute table, I wouldn't mind that. The five hour one is not too bad either. The five day table is spoiled by the orange colour on the drawers. It should have been left natural and just varnished.
I like the 3 level concept but I think it would be cool to be more tool based than time based. Like one using just weekend warrior small tools, one where you add in table saws/bigger machines, and a full shop
I like it! One with big box store cheapo tools, one with dedicated hobbyist level tools and one with the full pro shop. Make a entryway bench with 4 clamps, a jigsaw, 1 drill, a dozen screws, hand sanding, and prayer like the rest of us!! :P
Purely for the views! You should do the home depot coin box toy build as a 5-5-5 challenge but the final version is a DnD mimic. Coin box, treasure chest, and Mimic box!
Those all look good. The 5 hour build has a very nice clean aesthetic to it. The 5 minute table looks better than you're admitting, and that 5 day build is simply gorgeous. I love orange, and I think it matches nicely with the natural wood. Next time, maybe a 3 x 5 chair build with a strength test at the end to prove they work.
You never cease to amaze me with your skills especially in the time challenges. Your injection of humour in the face of adversity makes us route for you more to kick it's ass. Great projects as usual. 😊
I like the 5 minute table too. What a pretty piece of lumber. Also... stay safe! The 5 minute rush (saw toss, running with the slab) and the kickback in the 5 day one made me squirm a bit.
All 3 tables are magnificent. The 5 day one would look awesome in my house, the drawers match my walls (I have a very pale color that vibes well) so it should look great in any home. Beautiful carving, John. This was outstanding. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome and fun video! It’s helping to pull my son into my woodworking hobby - combining his joy of UA-cam with my joy woodworking. Stay classy, good man!
As someone just starting out and struggling to figure out how to use the tools to get done what I want, I find your videos awesome. You just blew my mind with the track saw tip about the orientation and now I know why my measurements have been short on some boards and not others.
They are all beautiful. The top on the 5 min is my fave. Great work, I love learning great tips that I will never use. I do resin work on a very small scale never worked with wood and resin, but I do not have all the tools and equipment. Any suggestions on a simple project using wood and resin and little to no wood tools???
Since you're a former professional athlete, these timed videos make me think of the differences between high school sports, college, and professional sports. There's enjoyment at each level and gain a greater appreciation for the level of skill and difficulty of each level. Some of the basics of sports are present at each level, just like the basics of woodworking are present at each level.
How weird is it that I'm a 61 year old female who knows nothing about woodworking or plan to get into woodworking, but I find your channel so entertaining? 😂👏👏
Not weird at all! I'm a 21 year old female who actually competed in cabinet making in highschool! These guys are very funny and make it look so much more fun than it sometimes is
Interesting. I think i prefer the 5 hour one the most in terms of the lines and shape. On another note $120 for a sheet of walnut plywood isn't to bad. I got for a sheet of 18mm oak plywood to be delivered to my house (here in new Zealand) it was $960 including gst
Love the concept, really like the carving on the 5 day one although definitely would not have gone with the orange colour. But the one I really like is the 5 minute table.
These all look good. I love the 5 minute and 5 hour tables. the 5 day looks good, but I don't like how the orange turned out and I would have preferred the drawers on the bottom like the original design. suggestion for next build challenge (don't know if it can actually be done in 5 minutes though) - book shelf.
I think we need this 5 by 5 by 5 challenge but on the lathe! We all know John is the ultimate lathe master so who knows what “greatness” he would create!
So I'm in love with this channel! My whole little family actually is. anyway for the holidays u could build a wooden toy, sled, or rocking horse? U Kinda already have a magical Santa's workshop vibe already going 🥰❤️
The five day is slick. I understand you've gotta do what you gotta do to get your views and the people as a whole like what they like. That being said, I much prefer your build videos. When you guys get down to it you make some cool stuff.
hey jon not sure if you know this but if you leave a gap on the sacrificial fence and the table saw when you do your miter your piece wont get caught and shoot out as much. for example if your mitering a 3/4 inch piece of wood just space up your fence 11/16 of an inch so your piece still hits the fence but your waist falls under the fence and wont shoot out.
Honestly the 5 min build looks pretty good. It would work good in a smaller house or apartment The 5 day build is SICK! love the simplicity of it. The 5 hour build looks good with jointing. If I had pick one, definitely the 5 min build
5 minute has charm because of the great piece of wood used 5 hour shows of the woodworking skills and is probably best value for money/time. Might need a bit of extra charm/decoration to make it stand out. 5 day is a piece of art. The drawers make it pop, the edges look so damn smooth. But I agree that orange is not my favorite colour. But it shows of the reflection and depth really good. I was surprised how much I enjoy watching you build stuff. Getting insight into your craft and learning an appreciation for the hard work that goes into quality pieces. Thanks for showing these. Dont let yourself be discouraged by people loving the 5 minute pieces. Nature worked years on those pieces of wood. No way 5 days of human labor can compete with the level of detail mother nature puts in ;-)
NEVER STAND IN FRONT OF THE SAW BLADE WHEN TURNING IT ON!. SAVED MY LIFE! on a side note, you need someone to clean up the shop, willing to relocate from Toronto. looking for a new adventure.
So maybe a cool build video idea. Have 3 of your guys build something and see if John can pick who built what. No restrictions on design or materials but give them like a week
No way, I am taking a dump and I wasn't subscribed! I watch so many of your videos and have them suggested in my feed so often I just assumed I already subscribed 😅
I wish I had a shop to do these projects. I discovered you last week and have been binging your older videos from roughly a year or 2 ago. I'm happy to be here for a newer video (probably because I got the notification from subscribing and hitting that bell). Your projects are what I wish I could have. Also, obviously, this is the first giveaway I'm taking part in.
Damn that five minute build was cool asf!!! This channel’s really got me interested in wood work-I’ve got zero experience and come from the polar end of the spectrum (I’m a writer lmao) but damn do yall know your craftsmanship!
It's interesting that the higher quality the build is, the more niche the design is. Like the 5 minute build would probably look good in lots of people's spaces, but the 5 day one requires a bit more of a specific decor. It's kinda like a t-shirt vs tuxedo sorta thing.
Been table sawing mitres (yes thats how we canucks spell it) with a fence for a long time and oh boy that's a super dangerous way to do it. I know you made it clear to people you're aware of that but I can remember back in my early days one of the guys having a maple offcut kickback off our 5hp slider and shoot across the shop through a leaned up sheet of 1/2" shop ply. Pretty gnarly. Best way to do those cuts is to build a fence with a gap under it large enough for the offcut to freely float underneath without binding. You really only need just under an 1/8" of contact at the top of your board along the fence as long as it's straight and flat. It should drastically reduce your chances of wood missiles flying out the back of your saw.
The 5 min legs are pretty cool. I ordered a set for my sister last year for a table that only had half of the box there. The table was shipped in 2 boxes that was lost in shipping and another one was sent and half showed up later. The half that showed up had the table top. So I added these legs to it. Looked and work really well. Then half a day later we were moving a few things around and she had these 2 white drawer things and she was like I wonder if they would fit under the table. Well they did not, yet my bright ideas was to remove those nice legs and install the table top on to the two white cabinets and screwed them together and the top on it. Now she has a really nice work bench in her spare room and those legs were returned, only for them to tell her to keep them, I tossed them up in the attic...
I'm seeing a lot of hate in the comments for the Orange but personally I LOVE it. Its a perfect color combination that would match my home decor beautifully.
John your method of creating 45 degrees on the waterfall ends can be safer. I can send you a picture of my jig. Basically you need to have the sacrificial fence raised up 1/2”-5/8” so the scrap can’t bind between the fence and blade. If you need a visual I’ll Send you one.
I like the 5 hour one best. The 5 day one has too much overhang of the drawer fronts. The orange is cool, but not sure it goes well with the walnut. The carving is awesome though, and I'm impressed with the joinery.
50 minutes, 5 hour, 5 day tool storage with beginner, intermediate and advanced building tools would be my vote, great content as usual malecki
My thoughts exactly. 5min is ridiculous, 50 would be better and more interesting.
You could also do .5 hours (30 minutes). Maybe .5 hours, 5 hours, 50 hours.
@@scorpiorysing he is american. More like quatrer an hour, quatrer a day and quatrer a week.
I’m more for this than the five minute ones. Or even 30 minutes or 25 if you need the 5 that bad
Limiting the tools to a circular saw, a router, sander and hand planar would be great for those of us building in our garages or small shops.
Only thing I don't like is the orange other than that it's amazazing.
For real it should have a lighter or darker polish than the table
Yeah I can only really see it looking good in black or white
you mean that Puck color 🤮🤮🤮🤮
I love watching your show ,just wish your hoodie and t-shirts had a size bigger then 3xl some of us are a little bigger the 3xl
And, would look good in a small apartment.
exactly lol i thought it was cute
He wasn’t wrong. People sell worse stuff of Etsy for thousands… so giving away that would be awesome… I’d rock it for something myself
Id love it in my lil apartment full of ikea cardboard 😂
And should come with Johns autograph and the quote “That impresses even me of the shitness of it!”.
It would also look great in a cabin in the wood or a room with hunting trophies.
I really like the 5 minute table. You're tough on yourself.
Hands down the best one out of the bunch 👍 . LoL 😂
I agree! The 5 minute table is great.
People really do underestimate K.I.S.S in design. Thought it was way more interesting and better looking than the 5 hour.
Its nice to see that the comments on this one are nice lol shows that the community is just very honest lol his stone table blew chunks and everyone let him know, but these were awesome and we are letting know that as well.
Just cool to see its not negativity just for the sake of being negative.
Definitely not being negative for the sake of it, he's really talented with wood. But stones. Ye, I think he needs a little more practice.
Honestly, the 5 minutes one is my fave, I enjoy the simple and kinda of industrial design, it goes well in any minimalist design and it still is natural wood, so it brings some sofistication to it. I've seen a bunch of people spend good amount of money into furniture pieces just like that.

Like one using just weekend warrior small tools, one where you add in table saws/bigger machines, and a full shop
Yes! One that is only hand tools, one hybrid, and one with all the fancy power tools.
Maybe making the same or similar item in each process? Just to show what can be done.
@@Tomeccho Deff the exact same.
I like this idea. Maybe make a bookshelf and have a $200, $2000, and unlimited tool cost tier.
I like it! One with big box store cheapo tools, one with dedicated hobbyist level tools and one with the full pro shop. Make a entryway bench with 4 clamps, a jigsaw, 1 drill, a dozen screws, hand sanding, and prayer like the rest of us!! :P
They're all beautiful! I'll take the 5 minute one if you're giving it away too, I love the simplicity of it!
The five minute table is still better than most IKEA furniture
That slab of wood costs more than most IKEA furniture. So it should at least be better :)
The 5 minute one is the one I would have, love basic wood furniture ❤❤
some reason I love the 5 minute coffee table. Seriously Simple Rustic Beauty that looks cool
Purely for the views! You should do the home depot coin box toy build as a 5-5-5 challenge but the final version is a DnD mimic. Coin box, treasure chest, and Mimic box!
awesome builds - even love the 5 min table - it is gorgeous. the 5 day is a work of art (except the orange!!!! but i hate painted wood - love stain)
5 days is gorgeous. Not a big fan of the orange paint but I appreciate your content and drool over your workspace and tool collection.
I'm simple 5 min slab looks great, but so do the others, different styles look good. keep up the great work.
You never cease to amaze me with your skills especially in the time challenges. Your injection of humour in the face of adversity makes us route for you more to kick it's ass. Great projects as usual. 😊
to be honest I maybe crazy but I like the 5 minute table. I just like how clean and simple it is.
Carrying around that 150 pound slab like nothing. Impressive Malecki.
60 pound max
John is not a small guy😂
Pretty sure his his past experience from NFL makes these 'light' pieces of wood feel like nothing in comparison 😂
A half-inch walnut or cherry strip between the top slabs on the 5 hour table would look AMAZING.
I like the first one
With some new legs
5 day table would have been soo good if not for that hideous orange colour
For real it should have a lighter or darker polish than the table

All of them look great. The 5 day one is awesome. While the orange isn't for me, it still looks great.
John, your power carving has gotten progressively better. The drawer fronts you did here look amazing!
Awesome and fun video! It’s helping to pull my son into my woodworking hobby - combining his joy of UA-cam with my joy woodworking. Stay classy, good man!
I love the 5 minute one.

I actually like the five minute one, as well. I believe it could make a nice end table.
I really like the 5 minute table, my wife & I loved live edge before it became a fad. I would absolutely rock that in my living room!
These are definitely my favorite videos from you guys. Would love to see another build competition between everybody as well!
Yeeting every tool along the way. Great build Let's Go!!!!

Fun video. I still can't believe you pulled off the 5 minute build!
They're all great, but i gotta go with the third one. It's just gorgeous.
Honestly my favorite is the 5 minute table just the simplicity of it
They all turned out nice. I thought the 5 minute was unrealistic, but you did it. Great job on all
The five day is slick. I understand you've gotta do what you gotta do to get your views and the people as a whole like what they like. That being said, I much prefer your build videos. When you guys get down to it you make some cool stuff.

Holy shit that was the most impressive 5 minutes of work I think I've seen in my life, John your a beast
The 5 day table is what we use as a tv station in Norway. 5 min table is the best one
Thanks for sharing some tips and practices. Wood working is something I'm trying to get better at. Great content!!!
5 minute has charm because of the great piece of wood used

What type of wood are you using for the 5 hour table?
I would like the Live edge table, please and thank you.....😁
Great content as always! I always enjoy watching the craziness you come up with. Thank you!
Love the build and the 5 day table looks amazing, my only issue is when you did the announcement for the competition you showed the finished table
They all looked great at all the levels but I do think the last one was awesome 🤘🏻
Damn that five minute build was cool asf!!! This channel’s really got me interested in wood work-I’ve got zero experience and come from the polar end of the spectrum (I’m a writer lmao) but damn do yall know your craftsmanship!
I’d definitely take the 5 minute table over both the others!
We definitely need to have a talk about the word repercussions! Reper-cautions?
Love your stuff man. You got me back into woodworking after hitting a slump.
Anything built with walnut is already my favorite thing
Really nice work. Loved the carving and orange against dark wood.
The king👑 of youtube is back and made another good video
Build speaker boxes for home theater. Sub, center channel, and nice main speakers for your next build. 50 minutes, 1 day, and 5 days.
You need to do more of these challenges! They are very entertaining.
It's interesting that the higher quality the build is, the more niche the design is.
Like the 5 minute build would probably look good in lots of people's spaces, but the 5 day one requires a bit more of a specific decor. It's kinda like a t-shirt vs tuxedo sorta thing.
Honestly your 5min table still is better then 99% of ikea tables, I'd rather have that then most of their stuff lol
Colour of the drawers just
pops 👏👏
I think you should do a chair for the 5,5,5 video
That final table belongs in a museum. Great job 👏🏻
I love all of them, and would use them in 3 different rooms haha...favourite is definitely the 5 hour one though, so clean!
I love these videos. A good one would be 3-tier serving trays
5 hour was my favorite one!!! Natural wood without any colors ...
I would actually take the 5 min table. I love it being simple and elegant.
