- In this video i'm showing an example of how to apply for baby's first British passport online or for a child passport, so this is a UK passport application! I'm doing this step by step as I apply for Naomi's (my newborn). I am aware the new passports now being issued are blue, but my daughters has not arrived yet so i'm showing my passport in this video x

Still prefer the paper based system as supporting documents have to be posted and referrees have to be emailed when it's peace of mind to get everything sent in one envelope for a few extra pounds l!

from what I remember, they are sent a link by email, but don't quote me on that. I honestly don't remember as this was some time ago now x

Hi and thank you 😊 her passport came through a week after i uploaded the video (my 9 week old baby) and it is blue; my one year old has a burgundy one. The passport office is only issuing blue ones now ☺️

Yes they delivered to my home, but you have to pay for delivery. Birth certificate, my birth certificate, I think that's it. They usually tell you what to send x

Hi Luca, I'm guessing if they've asked for it you'll have yo provide it unfortunatel. You could always give the embassy a phone call to see if there are any alternative documents. Hope this helps 😀

I am not fully sure, if you start by applying online it should prompt you. Also depends on your citizenship and your husbands.

Hi Tinh 😊 I don't really know your situation, so i'm not sure. As you progress through the application it will let you know what ID is required. I think I sent my passport and birth certificate. Hope this helps x

Not sure I remember. Depends whether the other person has confirmed the identity. You'll receive a text immediately after they've done it. ✔

Hello I have a question please to you if the baby got another passport they say so send to them and it's possible to accept if my baby have already another passport(Romanian)so I want as well to appli for a British I don't know if will accept I'm not sure about this the baby was born here

How is the identity confirmed? Does applicant get the text then what happens?
From what I'm aware the person identifying your child (who you've chosen) gets a text with step by step to complete. You'll receive a text once complete x

Hi Juliana, i'm not sure what you mean. My daughter was born in the UK so she is British by birth, once we registered her birth we received her birth certificate which was the only ID we needed for her, hope that helps x x ?
If baby's mum/dad is settled or citizens of the UK before baby's birth, then there's no need for naturalization. However, if both were not settled before/the time of baby's birth, then later got settled after baby's birth, means baby needs to apply for naturalization before getting a passport. A baby needs to be a citizen before applying for the UK passport. Hope you understand the explanation?

Hi Shola, they give you options on the site to send to PASSPORT OFFICE. Me personally sent birth certificates for both myself and baby x

Oh I didn't send it to the home office, I sent it to the passport office. I'm a British citizen by birth so didn't need to send much x

Probably 2-3 weeks. I remember it being quite quick. Not sure the backlog now 🤔 as I assume people are gonna want to travel again so a lot more applications = longer wait x

@@mariumtahirsyed4373 nope, just my birth certificate and baby's. I'm a British Citizen by birth which automatically make my baby British also. I don't need to show my husbands (dad's) birth certificate. I do understand that in other countries it may be different, for example when we applied for a Dutch passport for baby, they wanted both mine and my husbands identification. Hope that helps x
