Instead of healing the population, they froze mid-heal. That's why Senku got revived by the little piece of stone at the base of his skull.

Dr. Stone is my favorite series out right now. Watching them make things from scratch and then proceed to build on those inventions to make new, better things gets me 10,000,000,000% more hyped than the biggest, flashiest fight scenes in shounen. I love series that actually highlight just how much good science has done for humanity, so Dr. Stone scratches a very specific itch for me in a way that no other series does.
One thing I've noticed in a lot of other anime is that often times scientists and science in general are portrayed as the bad guys, or just dangerous and overstepping man's realm, going too far and creating some huge evil. Things like A Certain Scientific Railgun/Magical Index, Psycho Pass, Princess Mononoke, Steins;Gate(SERN), SOA, etc. So one of the things I love the most about Dr. Stone is that it takes the opposite track and highlights how important and all-encompassing science is, and how easily it can be used for good compared to evil. It's the foundation of modern society and civilization and if used right can improve th lives of everyone.
@@semaj_5022 I do appreciate that the show doesn't ignore the terrible things science can do, Tsukasa makes a very valid point about the weapons of the "old world" after all, but it doesn't treat that side like all there is to science. This is a hell of an endorsement! Mythbusters was a very big part of many 90s-00s kids who were interested in science and engineering. Man, I miss Grant.
As a teacher I hope I can get it approved to implement this show into class somehow if I ever have to teach science. It could easily make lessons more fun and exciting. Or at-least increase interest in the subject.
It would serve well in a history class as well, showing off how some important material or device was first made, since they often use primitive tech, rather than simply recreating modern tech, like using Bakelite instead of Polyethylene.
The Iron making was greatly shown in a manga called Sousei no Taiga where Anthropology Students travek into the neolithic age where one of the students created an oven which is composed of several chamber on stairs so the heats travels up and at the top is where the iron is melting.
Noticing the big reactions is a trait that gives a scientific mind like hers the natural talent and charisma to be as successful as she is. She is quite charming.
To be fair though... Their reaction to cotton candy is pretty reasonable cause of their primitive life style hell I'd probably react the same way if it was my first time trying any modern food/sweets vs primitive food lol
The steam engine here is actually one of oldest versions called the wobble engine or better known as the oscillating cylinder steam engine. It’s not in use today as the more reliable multi cylinder gas engine is much better though the foundation design is there just with better fuel efficiency and more control over the in and out.

She doesnt get to understand why alot of what she is seeing is cool because she doesnt know important details. I get she cant sit around forever watching episodes, but I feel this suffered a bit due to the choices of the editor who made the compilation she was shown.
I think they should have done a little synopsis at the beginning. Who’s Senku, what’s he doing with who and why to at least give enough background for him using modern science to make all of this primitive stonepunk tech.
Yeah I honestly wanted her to see the part where Suika sees through lenses for the first time . That scene does such a great job of showing why science is so damn great.

The only real caveat about doctor stone is that the needed purity for much of what he makes is probably not feasible with only stone age tools. But if my biggest complaint is a doubt the ability to actually make a high purity sulfa drug or gold wire for electronics then its an accurate show.
I also laughed so hard at the manual bellows for the blast furnace, thats another thing thats border line impossible but with enough determination/desperation could work.
@@jasonreed7522if you watch the show the make ramen out of foxtail to pay the village to help them pump the furnace. It doesn't work in the show when they do it by themselves.
@@smartomarplustax they were melting black sand, which is most likely magnetite powder. Magnetite's melting point is 1,583°F-1,597°F.
A bonfire can reach about 1,100°C and in the episode Senku states that their furnace can only reach 700°C without bellows. He did add coal powder for a ratio of 4parts magnetite to 1 part coal which helps lower the melting point, be even then getting a nearly 800°C increase from just cramming more oxygen into the forge won't double the temperature.
The real change that is needed to melt iron is to make real charcoal by heating hardwood in the absence of oxygen and then burning that while doing everything else they did in the episode. (It would still be super hard work to manually pump enough air to melt the iron)
Its for this reason that the Greeks didn't entire the ironage until the bronze age collapse cut them off from the copper and tin that isn't a pain to melt, and forced them to use the inferior iron in the post apocalypse because its all they had. (At the time, the iron age was considered a massive downgrade from bronze because its they much more of a pain to work with)

@@byakumaruZ I mean a new show that starts at episode 1 and just tries to recreate as much as they can. The stoning was clearly aliens, since Senku is destined to end up in space, that's the only thing that would make sense. They sent a light that was supposed to heal everyone on the planet as a sign of goodwill, but based the chemistry on their own species, which must have included an excess of nitric acid that we had a deficit in. Instead of healing the population, they froze mid-heal. That's why Senku got revived by the little piece of stone at the base of his skull.
Well we’ve kinda got How To Make Everything (HTME) doing a similar thing. But if he had the kind of budget and scale that mythubusters had, it would be quite something.

Lets admit that Senku grew up on Mythbusters
I really liked how she was fair and didn't discredit the entire show due to some of it being exaggerated at times. She credited the show and accepted the fantasy layer on top. More reviews from people like this
I love how some of the things she was accepting as fantasy where actually acknowledged by the show. Like the bellowing of the furnace, in the show they gave up on that method, upgraded the bellows and got an actual rotation system of manpower implemented (Later even using automated bellows powered by a waterwheel) or how the batteries are never used for anything too powerintensive (Just bulbs and a radio), lightning being a giant issue because the storm came to quick and they had to be really lucky (using an improvised lightning rod). And lastly, she talked about how "Yes this is possible, REALLY HARD TO DO, but possible" which is perfect, because most of the show is about gathering manpower and simplifying the workload so that the manpower can used more efficiently, and ofc, it takes him YEARS
I would love an OVA episode where the Mythbusters gets de-petrified and meet up with the gang.

Dr Stone >>> Demon Slayer
