While I was on a trip to Mexico to learn how to make leather at Lefarc Tannery - they're the ones who brought me down, not Thursday! - I decided to stop by Thursday Boot Company's Mexico HQ to find out what goes into their uber popular boots.

I love your boots! So nice you're showing how shoes are made in Leon, Guanajuato. I'm Mexican and knew Leon was the place for making shoes but when I visited, I realised how big the leather and shoe industry is there. Great video 👌

Very cool , nice that Thursdays let you in to see the process. I like when companies let you see there processes and how there products are made . In my mind it gives them credibility . I have been a boot guy for long time and have never owned a pair of Thursdays boots but tomorrow I’m ordering a pair of the Dukes they look like fun . Thanks for the video .

I'm wearing my Cadets in Buffalo leather right now.. I think it's the only boot they use Buffalo in the construction.. I love them!

I loved this video! I need to buy another pair of Thursdays. The last pair was a tad too small and gave me hotspots but it was my fault for the wrong size. Super high quality for a really good price!

just ordered these boots. I have a house in Leon. Next time I visit I'd love to visit the warehouse.
When I got my first pair of Thursdays a few years ago I wasn't impressed; both boots began delaminating in toe area after just a few weeks or so of extremely light use.
Customer Service was very excellent though and I sent them back. They gave me a gift card worth another pair but I kinda was turned off so I forgot about it.
Then last year I wanted a new pair of brown boots, already have some nice black Red Wings, and decided to give Thursday another shot.
Picked up their o-ring zipper Harness boots in brown suede and dang man, those things are tight. They're my favorite pair of footwear now and thankfully they fit absolutely perfectly. I hope they hold up but so far so good (they're about 7 months old, light use).
They're really sharp looking. I think of them as my panty-dropper boots but I'm afraid no panties have been dropped so far.
Dang, the “panty dropper” clothing outfit hasn’t lost out entirely, but is kind of an old school saying. Hope you find what you’re looking for.

Again,I bought a pair of florsheim ankle boots and I got a blister on my left ankle,so I put on my Thursday boots the following day and they are absolutely awesome, no pain even with the blister on my ankle and I must say they feel great and look amazing all the time. I've tried switching them up but I can't I seem to always wind up wearing these magnificent boots. Love them
Thursday should explore different lasts. Narrow gets old after a while
Dude that's legit, thanks for sharing this. It really helps show that Thursday is not just a rinky-dink company making less expensive boots, but quality product at a sustainable low markup 👍🏼 handmade quality. Not perfect, but definitely nothing to scoff at

Thursday leather is a little thinner than others, but at 200 a boot it's well worth it. Now since Thorogood is approaching 300 a boot, and Red Wing is over that mark, I would love to see Thursday try to make an actual work boot!
For 200 theyre great. Red wing is far better though. But for casual use Thursday is probably the best choice.
This seems very much like any other factory where things are mass produced BUT I don't think that's a bad thing! That's probably what keeps cost low versus something that is made to order to customers specifications and using high quality materials. Which cost is why I picked Thursday Captains to be my first goodyear welt boot to begin with and introduced me to this world of boots!
Either way, Leon is well known for really good quality leather products.
Thursday does use high quality materials, and make a quality product. The factory being in Mexico for sure keeps costs down, and while I wish they were all made in the USA I realize that they are only able to offer such a product at such a great price due to the labor cost being lower. At least they are made in Mexico and not overseas in China like many other manufacturers.
I love Thursday boots, I have the President in tobacco color, the captain in black matte and the Arizona, I have their belts and jackets and about to get the Saint shoes for a wedding. This brand is my favorite 👍🏻
I'd love to see a Parkhurst version of this! Get some American assembled boots up in here!
Nice! It would be interesting to see the León factory where the Wolverine BLVD boots are made. They look very similar to Thursday.
The BLVD collection from Wolverine was pretty much made to be a direct competitor to Thursday Boots, there's a reason they're very similar. In my opinion, Thursday's are still far better than the BLVD collection.
In the last month I purchased a pair of Thursday Diplomats and also a pair of Georgia Boot Small Batch that MSRP for $320. No comparison. Boots look similar but the Thursday Boot is of so much higher quality than the Chinese Georgia Small Batch.

The captain has a false cap toe , meaning 1 layer of leather sawn together at the cap to make it looks like cap toe. Go see Rose Anvil video in “ What’s inside Thursday’s most popular Boot.

I skipped on the black legends and got some Red Wing black prarie mocs but now have my eye on Thursday's copper vanguard.
I wanted to go visit their US factory but apparently it's in an insanely rural part of the midwest with no hotels or air bnbs nearby and it'd be really hard to pull off! Maybe one day though
@@Stridewise Yeah, that sounds it would be quite the mission. Btw would you happen to know if the Vanguards have a more leather-y construction, like in the heel counter and midsole or is it just fiberboard like the Captains?
I love everything about Thursday boot company, I just wish they made something less fashion forward with a slightly beefier profile. The tapered toes just aren't rugged looking enough for me personally. Hoping someday 🤞

The first 32 seconds show that you visited the shop of the brand Jaca, which seems to manufacture Thursday products. Jaca makes very good quality boots
@yannig.lebars.schoeck I have jaca boots and somewhere I read they manufacture for various USA brands (they even neglect the mexican market!). I have no specific info on your questions.
Love my Presidents in tobacco had to buy a second pair as last is narrow buy ee and don’t size down more than .5 from sneaker unless you have small toes

Spotted some Vibram branded boxes at 1:33 I wonder if this factory produces for other boot manufacturers as well.
I remember purchasing a pair of these back in 2017. These 200(ish) dollars boots are far more worth it than double the price of average tennis shoes. Still, not my favorite, but they have been a game changer imo.

Seems to me the biggest problem is getting a size you really need and the quality to stand wet and winter weather.

The jackets are made in a different facility but I believe they're in Mexico too - not sure where the leather comes from!
well, they're not RM Williams, and certainly not John Lobb or Gaziano & Girling.... but for 1/20th the cost, they're ok...

I'm a bit confused by the explanation about the QC process. So they're saying they only inspect a handful of boots within each batch? Is there no intermediate QC done at the factory inspecting at the per-boot level? If so, that would explain why it feels like we see so many complaints about Thursday QC. Granted their customer service is great, but I'd rather get issue-free boots the first time.

Haha we actually filmed about 200 steps but we figured most people wouldn't want to see an hour of this. Maybe I miscalculated that!

Very Nice looking boots I was considering buying 3 pairs at once until I found out that their Not Made In America so yeah that sucks but when they decide to start making boots here at home I'll be a customer but I always watch Rose Anvils videos to check on quality 1st I will not buy Any boot until it's been cut in half I don't know about you but I want to know what I'm buying is worth my every penny and Thursdays is a bit questionable but buy what you want live life and be happy 🤝🍻
100% Australian Made In Australia products such as Akubra hats are Pure Quality as well and it will probably last you a lifetime. After my home 🇺🇲 collections is complete, Australia is where I'm buying next.

Their QC process explains why they have some really bad boots make it through QC. No knock on them just answers a couple of how did that happen type questions

They need more cork to make them more comfortable, but besides that, the boots quality control is very poor, as they are shipped full of defects, for example, uneven heel heights (some by a lot), dents and missing or chipped parts in the sole's side, uneven stitching of different heights in the back part of the boot, which the company will try to claim are acceptable standard deviations defects in the manufacturing process since they are handmade, which is an outlandish claim for a boot at the $200 price point, which demonstrates an overall negligent and poor customer service strategy to push defective pairs on customers, which is adverse to the company's marketing strategy on first-hand testimonials.
If one is lucky enough to get a pair without defects in the first shipment, they are nice boots but for most customers that is not the case, for this company to ship a pair without defects can be a real challenge full of headaches, especially since it will take three or more exchanges to get a decent pair with little defects, noting that they will not guarantee a pair without defects in writing via email, which shows a poor branding supervision and integrity by the management of the company.
This is basically a company that sells boots and shoes with high end quality materials but with negligent manufacturing methods assembling products full of sporadic defects, which are push to customers as acceptable defects and maybe if it fails with a little rebate, in order to avoid an exchange for a pair with little defects, which makes me think from my experience with customer service, that there is no such thing as a pair with zero defects offered to their customers which does not do justice to the aesthetics of their style and designs offered, which is a real shame. In conclusion, unless this company can guarantee their products with zero defects or money back guaranteed, it is destined to go belly up and replaced with another company that will offer the same aesthetic with high quality materials, but with the zero-defects manufacturing processes.

Yeah I'm addressing this in an upcoming video: it IS two pieces of leather stitched together, which is why he said it was real. It's not one piece of layer *on top* of another, which is why people disagree
