“Why were the insoles not replaced?”. We’ve received this question quite a number of times below, so I’ll save you the time and answer it. For one, this video is titled “...Resole”...meaning it’s exactly that. A resole. Also, these are $200 boots brand new. We’ve put out other videos showing us replacing insoles, and it’s a tedious and expensive job. The crack in the insole will not make a difference in the way this boot feels or functions. We replaced the liners, which we did not show, so the owner won’t feel anything going forward. Again, we do what the customers pay for. Sometimes we add a bit to shoes/boots in our videos for entertainment and to be generous. Replacing the insoles on this pair would not have been worth it financially. 👍
Love how you guys are straight forward and care about how to take care of the customer. Not trying to nickel and dime them. Just making sure what they need and what fits them for their shoes/boots. Keep the videos coming. Learning a lot from you guys!!
When this type of thing is found, do you contact the customer to let them know and see if they want to replace the insole, or do you not worry about it since it's not worth it financially and it doesn't affect the function/feel of the boot?

I like that they can be resoled, what I don’t seem to understand is why resolve them for around $90 when they are only $199. Just buy a new pair. Now if a resolve cost $50, I think the resolve is worth it.
I think the idea is: 1. They are broken in to be as comfortable as possible for a user and no need to break in a new pair if these look great after reconditioning and resolving. 2. $90 < $200 obviously 3. Feeling that something handmade with good quality can be used for a very long time without wasting natural products by replacing what can be fixed with a new one. Just like with a broken smartphone screen or used cars when something minor-moderate is broken but can be easily fixed.

I've had my Thursday Vanguard boots just two months and am almost to the leather stack in the heel. Is it possible to replace the rubber bottom without doing a full resole? Thanks.
I got caught up in the UA-cam advertising and bought some Thursdays. They're OK but the leather isn't the best and the last is quite strange. The instep is very high leaving a lot of empty space above that part of my foot. If you have a high instep these could be great for you.
Might have been at request of the customer so that might be a question for him. Even if not, it never hurts to get a refresh as long as it’s not costing you too much.
I own a pair of White's all leather boots, and their incredible. But not something I want to wear every single day like I had been. They're $500+ boots for christ's sake! I decided instead of spending $150 a year on a resole, I would just get some every day wear boots that looked nice but were much cheaper so I could preserve my fancy "goin out boots". I found Thursday and was pretty astounded they offered a resoluble dress boot for $200! I gotta say, for $200 they're a damn good boot. They also protected my feet pretty well in a motorcycle crash recently.
Question: where do y’all go to get your materials to add to the shoes/boots? The nails, the shanks, soles, etc.? I know you got your tools from eBay but would like to know some suppliers for cobblers. Just a guy from Texas that’s trying to learn how to be a cobbler. Thank y’all for the videos this has been helpful and inspiring and motivating to learn a new trade. You guys are great and it’s awesome to know that there is another Heath out there that likes working with his hands and helping people. 😉😊
How much would it cost to do this to your boots? I tried the link but it says page not found. I know nothing about stuff like this any estimate be helpful
When It’s time for a resole I know where I’m sending my shoes and boots. You can get a lot of mileage from a quality GYW or blake $200 shoe. However $160 for sole and $50 for heel seems like a responsible but not financially smart investment for a Thursday Boots because they have already have good stacked leather heel. Other good quality shoes in the $200 and above price point may have particle board or shaved leather stacks and would benefit having a cobbler repair w/ quality sole and heel stacks when it’s time. W/ Thursday’s you could be paying more than initial cost. Or am I wrong? Excellent job! Can’t wait until my boots need to be serviced.
This channel introduced me to Thursday. Ordered Chelsea boots. Sorry but they were overpriced junk. Poor quality. Zero comfort. Thursday is a fad propelled via hyper marketing from social media influencers. 👎🏼
Question for anyone who’s bought a pair of Thursday Captains: the Thursday website says to order a half size down from your sneaker size; however, the sizing of my Iron Rangers makes me unsure about that advice. In sneakers I’m a 10.5, but in my Iron Rangers I’m an 8.5-two sizes down . So, going by the Thursday website’s advice, I’d order a size 10 Captain, but that would mean a big difference in the sizing between Iron Rangers and Captains (which could be true, I don’t know). I asked Thursday and they suggested that I stick with my Iron Ranger size of 8.5, so they’re suggesting that I ignore the advice about dropping a half size given on their website. Thursday was quick with a response to me and they were super friendly, so that’s awesome, but before I order a pair, I wanted to hear from some regular folks who have worn the boots. So, does anyone have any useful info on this? Should I go a half size down from my sneaker size, like the Thursday site suggests, or should I stick to my Iron Ranger size of 8.5 ? Thanks a lot, cheers. (sorry for the long message)
I would like to know your honest opinion of Chippewa work boots. I'm 57 years old I've been wearing Chippewas for over 30 years due to my job I'm a truck driver and I need steel toe or composite boots. I swear by the Chippewas. Now you guys seem very honest enough front and I would really like your opinion on the Chippewas. I am wearing right now the black IQ loggers. They have the slip resistant sole cuz that's what I need for my job. Very very comfortable boots, I tell all the drivers I work with about these boots and several drivers have gone out and bought Chippewa boots and find them amazingly comfortable. So I'm really really would appreciate how you feel about the quality of Chippewas and how they're made. Thank you very much I'm looking forward to hearing from you guys.
I am thinking about getting a pair of Captain boots but concerned about that cracking you showed in the sole. So that will happen in this model if given enough time? Not fixable? Also with a 200 pair of boots I assume the resole was half of that 100?? Right? I’m a new viewer.
So maybe this is a dumb question. But I just got a pair of Thursday boots. And they are arguably the first pair of quality boots I’ve ever had (side eyes cheap Levi’s boots from Nordstrom rack). So this is the first time I’ve seen thread used on the outter sole. But, I don’t get how the threading on the soles can stay functional after a week of walking around on concrete. Wouldn’t they just wear down and unravel?
Also. How hilarious would it be, if you just gave all the parts of the shoes, completely fabricated names and presented them as seriously as you guys do. Have all the other cobblers watching be like: "...what did he just call that?..."

I got caught up in the UA-cam advertising and bought some Thursdays. They're OK but the leather isn't the best and the last is quite strange. The instep is very high leaving a lot of empty space above that part of my foot. If you have a high instep these could be great for you.
sorry, but why the hell are the heels and soles being replaced? there's nothing wrong with them.they look almost new.
Might have been at request of the customer so that might be a question for him. Even if not, it never hurts to get a refresh as long as it’s not costing you too much.
Paper foot bed broken shank 🤷♂️🤦♂️ maybe Thursday should try more quality
I own a pair of White's all leather boots, and their incredible. But not something I want to wear every single day like I had been. They're $500+ boots for christ's sake! I decided instead of spending $150 a year on a resole, I would just get some every day wear boots that looked nice but were much cheaper so I could preserve my fancy "goin out boots". I found Thursday and was pretty astounded they offered a resoluble dress boot for $200! I gotta say, for $200 they're a damn good boot. They also protected my feet pretty well in a motorcycle crash recently.
I'm going to you guys when I beat up my Captains.
Thanks. We’re here for you.
I was about to buy these boots but now I'm not sure. Any suggestions or advices? Thanks in advance!
I would like to know as well...I have a similar desire to learn boot repair.
Check on the link given as he said
Those Thursday's look outstanding. The red stitching on the outsole has real pop.
I have a leather jacket by them. Its a cafe racer style and was $349. Nice starter jacket...
Mark 10:27, KJV: "And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible."
Probably spent $100-$120 to resole a boot where he could have just bought an entire new pair for $200. Smart logic.
I am thinking about getting a pair of Captain boots but concerned about that cracking you showed in the sole. So that will happen in this model if given enough time? Not fixable? Also with a 200 pair of boots I assume the resole was half of that 100?? Right? I’m a new viewer.
Mark10:18 KJV. Jesus acknowledging that him in human form could not enter Heaven.
That was a treat on a grey mid-November day. Thanks!
I always wonder at the quality of their shoes.
