Thanks Lynette. I'm an 18 year old guy that lives home alone because my parents went out of the country for a month. My washing machine smelled like eggs after I forgot to remove clothes from it for about a week. I'm learning a lot about house maintenance lol

I use vinegar and baking soda and put them in main wash or pre treaters compartment. It cleans my clothes, acts as softener and also I use less detergent. Also cleans the washing machine. Before using them, i use to get a funky smell when opening the drain below. But now i don't get any and don't have any 'suds'.

I use this method when I need to clean mine, and also May I mention the doors to your machine are switchable as to how they swing, the washer door can open the opposite side so when you are needing to put clothes in the dryer you don't have to over reach, it is a simple fix. thanks for the video

I have a top loader and I don’t use the fabric softener dispenser, I use a Downy ball for my Snuggle Fabric Softner, and I am wondering how I can get that thing clean? It is really terrible. I just throw my bleach dispenser in the washer if I use bleach for a load. Looks like I need to work on my washer.

20 years ago I found a new cleanser (spray bottle) in the supermarket. It was lemon juice and baking soda. Those were the only ingredients. That stuff rocked! Guess what? Never saw it again. Ever. Anywhere. All I can think is that the Big Guys bought out the company so they could keep selling their super expensive, stenchy chemical cleaning products. Now I make my own.

  • @shaheedahamilton9643

It's not a problem with front loaders only. It happens with the top loaders too. The reason for this is there is not enough water going through the high efficiency machines (both Front and top loaders) because they are supposed to use less water! I guess when the machines were designed, they failed to test them properly and we now have to buy additional products to solve their problems. Good luck!

+Sally Croft I don't do it as often as I should 😉. I would say I should do it every 6 months or so. But it goes longer than that at times. But it probably depends a bit how your water is.. and how dirty the machine gets.. I know that if I wipe it out on a regular basis - like even once a week it wouldn't get very dirty at all.

If you have white mark on your clothes, it means you're using too much detergent. If you're using powdered, it might not dissolve. High efficiency washing machines need to use less. Also check the HE lable on your detergent.

I have literally stuffed a towel into the ridges of the seal and soaked it with bleach, left it there for several hours, then used the towel (now deteriorated) to rub around the top ridge and between seal & drum. It helped, but DID NOT kill the mold. I read recently that undiluted white vinegar will KILL MOLD in porous plastic (let it sit/soak for at least an hour), whereas bleach will only kill mold on the surface of same plastic. I am going to try the vinegar tomorrow in my front loader's seal. (After that, I plan to sprinkle in some baking soda and scrub around the same areas.)

I don't recall that my mother or grandmother ever needed to wash out their machines, either, HOWEVER, appliances are no longer made to LAST anymore! And, as someone else said; they now seem to need all sorts of expensive chemical products to keep them operating better! I usually use a Reffresh tablet once a month, then wipe the drum and door as per instructions. But unfortunately, it DOES NOT seem to help at all with the mold that grows in the door seal.

I believe it's too much baking soda. Why did you separate the vinegar and baking soda? Combining them I think makes the baking soda clean more

5% acidity is all you need. And you don't need fancy apple cider vinegar. Vinegar made from corn is great.

I would be concerned that the vinegar would eat the rubber hoses inside the machine. Every youtube video says to use vinegar. It's like everyone copies each other lol but it's all good.
