I've lived at my current apartment for about 3 years, and there's a community laundry room with a washer & dryer. I don't know how long they've been there, but the soap dispenser always had some black stuff in it, very similar to what you show here. Took it upon myself to clean it last night, then looked up some info on further cleaning and found this. Thank you.
I watched another video before finding this and it said that after taking the dispenser out and before cleaning the area where it goes, plug the hole with a large rag or old towel. This will stop the mould and bits of hardened detergent from going down into the machine. Make sure that the rag is big enough so it cannot disappear down the hole though! I found this video very helpful though.
Omg this works brilliantly I done the inside dof the housing of the drawer unit where the tiny holes come out it was totally black I sprayed the white vinegar and left it a while and scrubbed it and it’s like new 👍
I personally, once a month: Small amount (2 tables spoons) of bleach in main wash and prewash compartments and a TINY amount (half a tea spoon) of washing up liquid in the machine itself I also put in my white cotton dish cloths, that way the solution also cleans the upper part of the machine I put the machine on the longest, hottest cycle it has I remove the drain filter using a towel to collect the water that does drain through, clear away debris and check the pump with my fingers and visually to ensure nothing is stuck in it Once a week: Remove the detergent drawer and wash it My machine is clean, odour free and will last because I take care of it 😀
It's easier if you put the baking soda + vinegar on the limescale gunk in the drawer and leave it for an hour, reapply and repeat and then most should come off ✨🙏 you did a really good job though. I loved the "I don't know if I can carry on" - so, so relatable 😅🎉
Omg that was soo satisfying to watch!! You gave me a giggle - i love your laugh 😅. Just cleaned my washing machine today, used bleach as there was quite a bit of black mould and also pink stuff paste. Popped two dishwasher tablets in the drum and put on a hot wash. Can actually see black pieces of mould swimming about. I didn't have white vinegar to hand but would be popping into b and m. There is still a lot of hardened soap in the dispenser which hasn't come off. Last time it was white hardened soap but seems like black mould has attached itself to it. Would try it next week
Great thanks. New home with built in washer .... found clothes coming OUT smelling!!!! Will stick to the natural vinegar and bicarb ... and elbow grease!! Thanks! NB have already cleaned out totally blocked filter and used a commercial cleaner I already had .... will now clean all the bits as recommended and use the cheaper, more eco friendy method here!!
@@how2not22 Sadly improved but still smelly! Think it is the pipe between the dispenser and the machine. Round out of vinegar now - but will try putting baking soda & vinegar down there when I get another big bottle of vinegar!
Id make a paste if using the baking soda in the small space. Id also recommend cleaning weakly the outside of the machine. They cost too much to not just wipe off with a baby wipe when spills happen.
I put sodium bicarbonate and I was thinking to add hydrogen peroxide but I didn’t do considering that it is a very corrosive disinfect. What about bleach chloride ?
You didn't clean the top undersiide of the dispenser compartment. There's a whole lot of mold there thats hard to clean because of all the ridges. I don't think most people clean it but thats very important cause thats where the wayer comes out of, so if its moldy, moldy water is shooting out.
Ok I'm new to this. How many times did you spray vinegar over drawer and scrub. Basically I can see you do it and repeat multiple times but I've been doing that for an hour now and eventhough it looks better I still can't get the hard dirt out..
Yes I had to use the vinegar spray a few times, I would also advice you use Bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) as this will help break up the hard soap residue.
Be really careful when using a small brush or any tool in the powder compartment. If it drops down the pipe into the machine it can destroy your machine forevery, It is impossible to remove unless you get an engineer to get into the waterproof interior/drum area. If you switch the machine on then the action of the drum will grind up the brush and destroy the bearings. My advice is to use a very long handled brush or block the water tube with some rolled up paper in a large, plastic bag. I am speaking as one who has done this and ended up making an insurance claim despite my Siemens machine being less than two years old!
Some detergent drawers/soap dispensers just pull out Most have a tab, a button, a clip or even a lever that you press or operate that allows the drawer/dispenser to be removed fully
Hot bleech with a tooth brush, would do the trick, or a specialist washing machine cleaner. My god, if had washing machine, like that I would just dump it and new one. Anyway at least it's clean now.
At last, a video showing why the washing machine needs cleaning, unlike the big brands showing us how to clean a perfectly clean brand new machine, so completely useless.
That is black mold in that dispenser cavity and is highly dangerous. You are spreading mold all over your fabrics. It is very difficult to clean the roof of the housing. I do mine weekly as I have asthma.
I'm really gutted to be leaving this comment because I absolutely loved your video and commentary, but I followed your instructions and it's actually messed up my washing machine. It stopped halfway on a high wash and the "clean pump" light came on (even though i cleaned it prior!!) and now it's making a funny noise.... I feel really disappointed as you can imagine but this is a reminder for EVERYONE that not everything you see on YT is factual!
I just want to add that I have a Whirlpool washing machine which is 7 years old and this is the first time I've cleaned my washing machine like this (drawer, pump and avc/ bicarbonate of soda in the drum). There was about 2 gallons of acv i had to drain via the pump before I could get it going again
@@youtubeaddict5663where and how did you even find the avc to clean it? I'd be worried I'd mess up the machine. That's for the vibration and spin control. I looked it up. Why would it even need cleaning? So confused. Someone else changed your acronym and thinks it's a cleaning product? So confusing. Hope u fixed the machine. I've read they're supposed to last 10 to 15 Yeats and with proper maintenance 15! Praying I get 15 out of my new machines.
My sentiments exactly. It's not rocket science just to remove the dispenser every dozen washes or so to keep an eye on it and to check the state of the recess. Same with the filter. Saves an awful lot of work in the long run...
My brothers just moved into a new place and the washing machine is the same as in this video if not worse! It amazes me that people don’t have the common sense to NOT let it get that bad !
At least you kept it real and actually showed what most our machines are like 😀

I use citric acid or two dishwasher tablets on a 90, also you should have done a slow spin :)
Great video!

I found the cleaning of the detergent drawer very satisfying very good job 💪 I clean my out every month makes it easier 👌
Mould and mildew spray is the best for the soap dispenser

Always be careful using too much vinegar. I've read it breaks down the seals on the plastic/rubber gaskets and such!
@@tybrett8007oh gosh it's a year ago u wrote u this. I was gonna say maybe replace the smelly pipe?

How much percent will be the acidity of the vinegar?

Wouldn’t baking soda react with vinegar?
Should the amounts be increased for a top-loader?
How much is a cup of baking soda/ bicarbonate of soda?

Try mould and mildew remover or bleach?
and how ti clean the filling pipe from filler? 🤔 and yes calgon is very good
You should have clean the drum last, all that mould from detergent tray went back to the washing machine
Thanks for the tip

How did u easily remove the soap dispenser?thank you!!
Theres usually a button you press down inside dispenser while you pull it out
Some detergent drawers/soap dispensers just pull out
Most have a tab, a button, a clip or even a lever that you press or operate that allows the drawer/dispenser to be removed fully
I clean every month
Can't one place the vinegar and soda in the drawer?

mmmnn!
Baking soda is a reducer . Vinegar is acidic.. that seems like a poor combination used simultaneously
Amazing
Thanks a lot

Pretty sure vinegar and baking soda cancels each other out
I think you should start by cleaning the area around the washing machine first
Yeah I was going to but the washing machine got in the way.
