Born and raised in Louisville, I've been going to this zoo my whole life. It's come so far, when I was a kid the exhibits were often more like the old snow leopard exhibit that you filmed, small and a little depressing. They've done amazing things with it. Also I have to say that in 48 years of visiting this zoo (at least once a year, often much more) I've seen the maned wolf exactly one time, from a distance. They are very reclusive. The coolest thing is when you're a little distance away and the lion decides to roar. You can hear it all over the whole zoo.
This was one of my favorite zoo's. Such a well kept place with lots of great designed habitats. It's nice to go back and see improvements, so you know the animals ate treated very well. Thanks for sharing your memories.
@@TomsRoadTrippin You're right that the purpose of zoos is for conservation and education. However, most guests are stuck in the 19th century with the way they behave.
@@salscandura6059 Your correct that some people don't understand the concept of a zoo. Treat the animals with respect, don't bang on stuff to wake them up. Most people I've noticed do the right thing and enjoy the animals without teasing them.
I have gone there every Saturday since I was a child. I am 14 and a half now.
