I ordered a new 325hp AWD Runway Red EV6 2 weeks ago knowing I may have to wait anything from 9 to 12 months. During all the discussions the sales executive’s boss came to us to say that there was an exact car of my specifications on the ship heading to the UK and that it was unassigned. I said, ‘ that’s got my name on it!’ It’s possible I may get it by the end of next month or early September. Can’t wait!!!
I drive the EV6 AWD Base Model but with full house except Meridian and Glass Sunroof since May 2022. 15‘000 km with not the slightest problem, noises or whatsoever. Driving profile rather sporty but mostly in ECO mode and always summer and hard Swiss mountain winter with 21°C inside. German Autobahn, mountain roads, highways, short distances and even tyre tests last summer on Anneau du Rhin against Alfa-Romeo Quadrofoglio Verde which was quite easy to follow. Consumption so far sensational 17,2 kWh and getting between 450 to 500 km. We usually charge at home and hotel destinations with 11 kW Wallbox. If the HPC properly works the promised is not fully reached but 238 kWh and therefore also the 18 minutes to 80% SoC. After 54 years of mostly German premium one of the quietest and best made car. Got now the birthday card and made a first service to check fluids, brakes, tyres etc. as well as some updates. Cost the whole year was CHF 200 for change to winter/summer wheel and clean my car regularly. So I never had any car that was not at the service center shortly after delivery. TCO as a company owner where always important but we had never alternatives like the Tesla Model S and the EV6. Thanks for the review! P.S. Have high charging curbe staying a long time over the 230. The Tesla curb goes down faster after peak. The Kia has a short stop only at 90% and restart then. But at HPC anyhow between 10 to 80% is fine for a coffee and toilet break. With the range we have the strategy of seeking nice spots on trips however we slowly at 11 kW! That’s the new electric quality of life where the journey is the reward 😂🤓🇨🇭😎

I'm driving the AWD and love the car. Only the door handles feel cheap (I dont have the automatic ones = horrible) and in darkness you dont know where they are exactly to open. But out of that great car. If you are not a long distant driver take the cheapest EV6....RW drive with 58kWh batterie and you will be happy.
I really wanted a ev6 but here in Ireland the 77kw base model is €58000 over 3 years financing, i don't really need the range and it's more than i could afford so looked at a 58kw Ionic5 but that came in at €48500.. i picked up a 52kw id4 for €40000 with 0% finance in the end, i like the Korean duo but not that much!
Sounds Kia may have made a software update because recent searches say that you can indeed preheat the cabin without the car needing to be plugged in 👍
The turning circle is ridiculous bad, a 3 point turn is a 5 point turn and the back is significantly wider so driving through width restriction roads will be a concern, especially in the UK. The collision warning system is too sensitive, I found this out first hand when driving in slow moving traffic.
The steering warning + having to move the wheel is not really a choice by Kia, its how the law works in many countries (because you are always required to keep your hands on the wheel). So they are using the steering angle sensor to verify input, the only other way we have seen in luxury cars is by having sensor-strips in the wheel that detect when your hand is on the wheel. The worst part of using the angle sensor (as many car manuf. do) is that it requires force on the wheel, but if the car is doing the lane-keeping and your hand just moves with the steering wheel the force applied is not enough for the car to detect that your hand is on the wheel, which is rather annoying because on long straights the car keeps bugging you to keep your hands on the wheel even though they are, forcing you to move the wheel unnaturally while driving in a straight line (it gets tiresome/annoying over time) .. The worst of them all is that if you do not respond after getting messaged the system just disconnects instead of keeping the lane crashing you into the nearest ditch or traffic on other lanes.. I dont mind the system using the angle sensor but the time (prob also gov. legislation) that the system starts to nag you is just WAAAAAAY to short IMO. What I experienced in many brands is that the system starts to nag around 15s of sensing no wheel-input, driving on the highway with a very long straight where only tiny corrections are needed to keep the car in the centerlane (which the system does for you) I always find meself yelling at the car and getting frustrated when it starts to nag about keeping hands on the wheel even though my hands never left the damn thing in the first place...... And when I ignore the messages the system just disconnects and allows me to die, great safety feature :)
@@BatteryLife Yes but its all based on the steering sensor that measures how much torque is being applied on the wheel. Only a handful of manuf. use other sensors specifically for detecting the hands on the wheel, because it is more expensive to incorporate capacitive sensor strips on the wheel for example or use IR camera's to track eye movement to verify you are paying attention to the road.. I just wish they would just allow me to push any button on the wheel (rock the volume switch or a quick tap on the accelerator pedal or something) to cancel the alarm and let the car know that I'm still here (like they have in trains where a traindriver has to push a button every now and then to let the train know you are still alive and driving it).. It's just much less intrusive and less of a strain todo instead of having to "wiggle" the wheel every 15 seconds while driving on a straight road where there is no reason to wiggle it or keep constant force applied on your muscles because the wheel wants to "feel" your presence instead of relaxing your arm ..
I have EV6 GTline RWD and with 130km/h I am doin like 22-23 kw/100km. When you go to 150-160km/h it is around 30kw/100km. So you have tested AWD and you are not that far from what is normal. Maybe also they are running in ECO and you used Normal/sport :)

Yeah ok and my trip to Florida from Pennsylvania will take me an additional 5 hours just from sitting around. Your standard battery has an EPA-rated range of 232 miles; the larger, long-range battery is EPA-rated at up to 310 miles. To fully charge takes 6 hours to charge the standard range 2WD from 0 to 100 percent, and 8 hours to charge the long range 2WD, long range AWD, and GT versions. I looked at the Kia EV6 and the cost is all but 45,000 dollars. I have a Buick Lacrosse (hybrid). At 20,000 dollars, it's paid off. It takes me about 7 minutes or less to fuel and that includes running in and grabbing a coffee. My range is 402 to 408 miles. I fuel up once sometimes twice a month. I would like to buy an EV but it has to be a luxury car, it has to be able to fully charge from 0 to 100 in 15 minutes or less. It's range must be atleast a bare minimum of 400 miles and all for 20 to 25,000 dollars. If anyone come out with an EV like this, you hit me back on this post and i will buy it immediately and in cash. The 2023 Toyota Prius hybrid has a range of 625 miles. Fuel times 7 minutes, price starting at 27, 000 dollars. With a much greater range than my buick lacrosse hybrid, and double the range of most EVs, this just might be my next buy in 2 years. Evs are nice but seems to me that hybrids supersedes them. Damn i want an EV but i just can't get into this trend with the rest of you till they improve them. For now, I'll keep my buick lacrosse hybrid. There is one Electric vehicle that is better than anything on the road but the american people are to stupid to wake up and see it. High speed bullet train technology. This is also (fully electric ). Charge times, 0. range is unlimited. You all like speed? How about 200 to 225 mph plus. Now i can reach Jacksonville Florida from Pennsylvania in 6 to 8 hours instead of 12 to 18 hours and even longer with an EV due to all the sitting times. You damn right i would park my car and take the train, wouldn't you? But till then I'll just take the buick. When im done fueling, i will be sure to wave good buy to you as im leaving.....

It also only works above 20% battery and it requires you to use the in built navigation which is my next point. 3: Built in navigation is so slow and cumbersome to use that this is the first car that I felt the need to always use Android Auto... Well unless I need to pre condition the battery.... 4: Battery has poor engineering. The difference between MIN and MAX battery temp is so high (10+ degrees sometimes) that it causes issues. You heat up the battery? You might rapid gate because of the MAX temp, you cool down the battery after that? You might Cold gate because of the MIN temp... See the issue here? 5: Infotainment feels like it is from 2016. Layout, look, structure, performance. I have had 2016 cars with less lag. Also terrible post launch updates with hardly any substance and that sometimes break features. 6: Bing Bong sounds... no thanks. 7: HDA 2 is half drunk. It wiggles too much. Ruins some frequencies 7/10. 3: Reasonably quiet. Road noise can be loud. 4: Some interior bits feel cheap. But overall decent for the price. 5: One pedal drive is nice but RWD regen is weak even in i-Pedal. Good things? Of course! 1: Ride is good. Nice balance between sporty and comfort. 2: Seats (GT-Line) are fantastic and ventilated: 10/10. 3: Charging speed (WHEN it works as advertised, so only in summer/late spring) is 10/10. 4: It looks good (especially LOVE the interior style). Got rid of it after 18 months. Because there are too many annoying/bad things. Also I want a more efficient car next time. Probably ID7

Just curious, if u don’t mind me asking How was getting rid of it 18 months? Was it a lease? Did you get a good value for it?
I like the looks and the features but I have mix feelings about the Ev6 😵💫 it’s too expensive for all the things I’ve heard lol
@@Bebela1ms It was a great value at the time of release in 2022. Not as good now in 2023 (in the US) with tax incentives gones and Tesla's being cheaper but still a relatively solid choice. Most used EV6s I see nowadays are only 4k below their msrp
What??? 85$ for one Kia???
It's a lovely car, but way too expensive.
