    If they are worried about the sustainability of trails, which I commend, why not build them such that they shed water. Lots of outs lope. Lots of grade reversals. Turnpikes over wet areas. Nicks. Drains. Armoring.More grade reversals. Engineered climbing turns. The information regarding methods for building sustainable trails is readily available.

      Different feeling! .. different disciplin ..in this case you're comparing trick skating vs longboarding ..or car racing with Sunday drives.. it's not better or worse (or it is) but mainly it's just a different experience, mindset and feeling.
      Mountain biking is a versatile sport, and can be run in several different ways . Here is the explanation of the typical disciplines of MTB .
      All- mountain ( AM)
      _The most common form of MTB . It is run with both ascents and descents._
      Cross Country ( XC )
      _XC is preferably run on trails and gravel roads._
      Downhill (DH )
      _DH is driving downhill , typically with some turns, jumps and other obstacles._
      Free Ride (FR )
      _FR is a free discipline typically jumps, obstacles, stunts etc._
      Dirt jump (DJ )
      _MTB DJ is on a ground surface, a series of jumps . Very similar to BMX_
      Four Cross ( 4X)
      _Four cross is a special MTB discipline that run on a motocross -like track with 4 riders ._
      Trial
      _Here runs on obstacles, where the aim is not to touch the ground with their feet. Requires good balance and technique._
      Urban
      _Here rider MTB on tracks , mainly on asphalt in urban areas with stairs, and custom-built jumps and other obstacles that are built for the purpose._

      You should be hiking instead to enjoy the scenery and take in nature.

    • @housepianist
      @housepianist 8 років тому +5

      This Guy That's not the point. You can do that on a bike too. The point is that everything about riding a bike seems to focus on racing and taking every trail as fast as possible. It's like you can't ride unless you're doing those things. It's very one-dimensional. I'm not saying you can't do those things. But seriously, when you drive a car, do you go a hundred miles per hour and race every car you see? Instead of going for walks, do you sprint in 100 meter sections?
      Again, my point is that biking is more than speed riding and that's what these channels focus on almost exclusively.

    • @ThisGuyRides
      @ThisGuyRides 8 років тому +4

      Randall Collins Yea but who would watch a video of some schmuck just riding along slowly going "Wow! Look at the beautiful nature!"
      But seriously, there are plenty of videos of average riders doing exactly what you described, my own videos included.
      But like I said, only people who watch them are just some local people who search for local trail videos.

    Mountain biking growing in Japan? let be honest guys, everybody including this Nishiwaki knows that tue scene is unfortunately declining years after years. MTB parks like fujimi or fukui are loosing a lot of money and there is no young riders at all... to see a future. Riders are mainly above their 40s. That is sad because there are amazing trails and potential here.

    The Japanese maintain and preserve the trails...deuchers commence tearing it up, just being assholes for the camera and the rest of the world too see. "Wait, I can ride aggressively without skidding and messing the trail up for everyone else? But.....the camera guys, I gotta look cool DUUURRRRRR."

    If I was walking in an ancient magical forest - I am sure that these anomalous carved trails would ruin the energy and the landscape: When walking in the UK' the landscape is certainly ruined by repetitive mountain biking activity. Sorry.
