Georgia is such a fantastic country, so glad this film exists, i had brutal food poisoning when i was in Kazbegi, while bed ridden was dreaming of cycling or hiking there, thanks for showing me what i missed out on!
Awesome film. Great adventure. Beautiful to see the riding in the high mountains in a really remote area. It's sad that this only has 516 views but funny cat and dog videos are pushing 20 million.
I have a lot of respect and love for your people and the border guards for laying down the law in a good way, protecting travelers who want to try but really have no concept of the danger ahead. If they had been like "Yeah, whatever, go for it, ya Western idiots, this is open country" this story seems likely to have ended badly.
incredible video...I liked it so much...I've been an MTB rider for 15 years and I wish I was a little younger to take a tour on these trails!! Congratulations on your adventure
Wow. Nice video, epic shots. We did the trail from Tbilisi to Omalo and further up to Atsunta Pass and made it to Shatli this year. It was definitly the most amazing, exhaustive and intense enduro trip I did in my life. Good to see the same paths that we traveled.
What an amazing video about a off the beaten track country! The landscape is so surreal.. Is there a way to share the GPS route log or a mapped route? I hope to go along the same route some day, thanks Bike Magazine and Yeti Cycles
guys I'm Georgian too, Speleoler and mountainer and next time if u gonna visit to Georgia, I suggest u to visit Tobavarchkhili... I cant go there with u cuz I live in US too : )) but if u gonna back check this place..
Very specified question coming up: I noticed that Brice Minnigh was using flat-pedals(i think?), and was wondering what shoes he was using for this trip? I am a bit more of an adventurous mountain-biker myself(not at this scale though... yet...), I have to Hike-a-Bike quite a lot in slippery terrain, which sucks with "skateboard-like" shoes, and I´d much prefer sticking to flat-pedals. I can´t really find any flat-pedal specific shoes that gravitate towards adventure, more than downhill and the conventional trail ride... Great video! Super jealous!
Hi Guys,Thanks for the fab. video. The landscape is amazing. I've already booked my ticket to Tbilisi. I'm going to spend there two weeks. Although, I've not decided yet wheter it's going to be a bikepacking or backpacking trip.what is the easiest way to travel between towns in the Caucasus if you haven't got a car? what camera gear did you use on the trip?
Beautiful video and awesome trip. But guys when did you make your trip? I mean on what date had your been in Girevi that wasn't allowed to go to Atsunta pass?
Pretty awesome video about a place most people know next to nothing about, let alone have ever considered visiting. My only quibble about the vid is when they say "self supported" trip, it's a little misleading. This looks like it has a decent support staff when you look at some of the footage of the guys riding bikes that weren't loaded, or some of the aerial shots. Still, no matter how many/few were on this trip, and what their budget was, they rode it the whole way and had a great story to tell.
Hi Phil, our trip was truly unsupported, with the four of us carrying all our gear and equipment from start to finish. For the video clips of us riding without our bike bags, we'd simply set up a base camp where we could stash our gear in the tents and spent an extra day exploring all the singletrack in that general vicinity. And, in terms of budgets, you probably wouldn't be able to believe how little money we've learned how to make these films with! If you think this sounds difficult, wait until you see our forthcoming film, "The Kora," which we'll release in a couple of weeks: We did an even bigger expedition in the Himalaya with only THREE people, carrying everything ourselves from start to finish, and splitting all the filming and photography between two of us. I hope you'll check it out! Also, for the aerial shots, we did those ourselves, too. We carried a drone with us. Cheers for watching!
