7 years later, and this video never gets old. In fact, this very video got me mountain biking. I now own a Rockhopper 2019 that I bring out for when I'm in the mood for XC.
Thank you for sharing these wonderful people and trails! My family lived in Aomori Prefecture (Norhern Japan) for 4 years and I fell in love with both as I pedaled my then-new Rans V-Rex, my road bike and my Schwann S-15 Carbon dual-suspension machine around the roads and trails. I returned this Spring after 11 years away and the love is as strong as ever. Please keep these videos coming! - Tom in Alaska
Rich, loamy soil. Tires at the perfect pressure, biting in and holding on like a Pit Bull. Trees like spectators holding out their arms, rooting for you (but nary a root in sight to upend you). Ideal conditions, epic ride. Those memories, man.
so good to see mtb videos in normal, realtime speed, rather than 90% of it being slo-mo. really gives you a sense of how much of a badass jinya is on that hardtail.
The guy setting up the soundtrack for this vid and the whole "Trail hunter" & "Destination Trail" series is spot on... what MTB is all about. Nothing worse than a good vid with an overly high paced soundtrack.
That's an epic trail. What is the actual length of it. The people of japan are, so great, so polite, so welcoming, there is no words can describe this...
I got into cycling through mountain biking, I then switched to road bikes and never looked back. However, I'm now going to give the mountain bike a service as soon as I hit "POST". Inspirational video!
Man...where do I begin? To be accepted and respected by locals, immersed in nature and place where the culture remains virtually uncompromised sharing old friends, making new ones all bound by a passion mtb biking then coupled with the love for finding and shredding amazing trails. What an experience (of a lifetime). One would find it very difficult to top. Great video! Thank you for sharing.
a lot has to do with the editing they ride fast no doubt but they have so much more rescources then the average Joe it's thiere job to Make it look cool and they do a damn good job at it
chromag stylus I think , I use to have an hardtail too but I switched to a full suspension bike, because I leave in a very rocky area, but I ' d realy like to retake an hardtail,
Awesome video, although there is no prefecture called Minami. Since they're close to Mt. Fuji, I'm going to guess they are in the southern Alps, Minami Alps in Yamanashi prefecture.
I ended up here after looking into pump tracks for BMX. What a great video! I noticed a lot of people asking where this place is......I've found it for you but I can't put weblinks up, can I? So please search for "summer fujiten" (should be the top hit) then scroll down the screen and click the mountain bike hexagon pic. You'll see the English in one of the pics for "Matty's Loops". This place is in Yamanashi Prefecture, not too far east of Tokyo. edit: Sorry, WEST not east of Tokyo.... :)
I wish I had the ability/finance's to be able to see the world and ride Bikes all of the Time, that would be the dream for me.. but at the Time I'm struggling just to make it by and trying to get/afford a New Bike is quite difficult at the Time. stay in school Kids.... lol idk.
so do these guys scream down these trails sight unseen or do they do any practice runs to get to know the terrain? I couldn't imagine going down that fast without eating a tree or something.

I was just going to ask who still rewatches old Matt Hunter videos. I always liked this one and still love this song too.
So true. I’ve watched this video like everyday and dreamed to travel with a mtb.
I'm just like you.
But I finally came to Fujimi.
Still one of my all time favourite videos.
Those trails are amazing. Such smooth flow and great aesthetics. Japan rocks

Still watching in 2022!! Used to work at a bike shop and we’d play these videos on our TVs. Rad!!
That drop at 2:08...holy wow...they make it look effortless!
Those trails looks like UCSC trails with a lil bit of flow trails thrown in. Isaac you gotta try Sweetness, Magic Carpet and Airborne

Fantastic video. There's really nothing better in this world than bringing your bike to a new trail and get surprised by how good it is to ride.
4 years later, I'm rocking that exact Stumpjumper Evo. :)
The guy setting up the soundtrack for this vid and the whole "Trail hunter" & "Destination Trail" series is spot on... what MTB is all about. Nothing worse than a good vid with an overly high paced soundtrack.
You sure about that? Watch Saturn III Fu Manchu footage to mountain biking. Nothing wrong with louder or faster music
2024 y aún me motivo con este video

incredibly good video!!
the bright yellow bike is a hard tail. RAD!
I don't know much about bikes. I do enjoy this video, though, can you tell me what a hardtail is and why it's different to the other bike?
Johnny Felcher hard-tail doesn't have rear suspension. it takes a lot more physical strength to ride.
いつか行ってみたい場所ですねぇ
Pffffffff, insanely beautiful!!! Domo arigatou 🇯🇵
I'm moving to Japan right now.

1:54 he is a real police officer (sergeant). he carries a tiny pistol, but will never use it in his entire career.
