At first I didn’t know how I felt about it being $32💀. But you did say you have refills of 3 of the sides, aaand a lil after meal drink. I feel like you could go to an AYCE buffet for $32 though…but I guess you’re paying more for the experience🤷🏻♀️.
@@pinkcatminht i live in california, have you heard of gen kbbq? they have ayce kbbq for $20 at lunch and $30 for dinner/weekends! i don't konw if other areas/states have the chain though, but i know there's a place in san francisco
@@pinkcatminht Don’t wanna tell the world where I’m located, but I live in a big city haha! There’s tons of AYCE kbbq, and AYCE sushi, Chinese, hotpot etc. There’s some places where its a bit more expensive on the weekends, like $35-$40 and you get pretty good food!
I’d rather pay $32 for this than a pasta dish at an overpriced Italian restaurant. There’s been good conversation happening on why we expect certain food labor to be cheap (mostly Asian and Latino), when it takes so much work…sometimes even more work than your “typical” fancy restaurants. Look at the sheer variety!!
Oh man, $32 is cruel. In Korea imth9s would be $16 at most. Soni could imagine $20 or $25.Most restaurants in Korea have a self service bar where you can refill sidedishes. Also, taxi restaurants usually serve simple dishes like jjigae, noodles, or bibimbap. The kind of food you would get at home. The side dishes are simple too kangjang, kongnamul, and kimchi. It is like home cooking. And the best restaurants always have a coffee machine, but you just have to push the button. No money needed.
As Korean this just theme of it but nothing really feels like it I can say this because when i was in Korea it was the thing to visit many famous taxi drivers restaurants in South Korea And as New Yorker myself it doenst feel the same at all
Yeah but its 4x more expensive then Korea and its not like Korea is a cheap country. You make a budget meal for menial workers food and make it cost like a proper Korean royal feast price. Rediculous.
Sometimes I’m happy I don’t live in NYC cause I can get similar to this in Atlanta and all sides are refillable for free. And it’s like $16. And Atlanta has a pretty big Asian population here. Lots of Korean restaurants on Buford Hwy.
Okay, I was looking away for a second and her that you choose sea pork (spicy pork) - hmm I think I might need to get my ears cleaned 😂 Btw the food looks yummy ❤
No, the side dishes there are all well prepared with high-quality ingredients. Take a careful look at the banchans such as marinaded shrimp and mung bean jelly etc. The dish is worth the price.
Raw shrimp marinated in soybased sauce. It's really good you know. The sweet rich flavour of the raw shrimp is a very well-known flavour to many asian countries.
The quarter at the end is pretty cute honestly, what a nice touch.
it's so adorable
Marketing strategy
@@beaa222 i am aware. It's a cute one though and that's all that matters.
For some reason, when I read the title I thought it meant it was based of a restaurant from the movie "Taxi Driver"
Haha same
Same! For a second I found it weird that there was a korean restaurant featured in the movie that still exists 😂
I'm reminded of the restaurant from Parasite.
Yupp...😂
it reminded me the kdrama also called taxi driver 😅
That quarter at the end feels so wholesome 🥹
Omg that food looks so good! And I love the variety of options 🤤

Should be $7 but NYC rent is insane.
It’s newyork this is normal pricing or even a little cheaper than other places…

me a stay anytime someone says “banchan”:
interviewer: felix what’s your favorite banchan?
felix: bangchan hyung :)
No the interviewer asked Felix what his favorite side dish was and he replied “Bangchan hyung”.

You can't expect the same prices in NY
I was seriously about to comment that!!
i wonder how the black bean latte tastes. it seems like it would taste really good!
A deconstructed bulgogi bowl for $32
this makes absolutely no sense when bulgogi bowl came after the bulgogi. this is just how bulgogi is served.
Thanks for sharing. Added bonus for putting the restaurant name and address in the description. I love your videos.

I like this James.. the one froggy fresh was dealing with not so much
I've been here and they denied us refilling of the sides. They claimed on the soup and rice is refillable.

Consider about GDP per capita man...
NY‘s GDP per capita is more than twice compared to Seoul
that's more than a reasonable price in NY
