Ryan, Land Cruiser sales have doubled in recent months, it looks like Toyota might be 'doing another FJ' with their decision to discontinue this model in the USA. In terms of pricing, I believe you could buy a SR5 Sequoia and SR5 4Runner for about the same price as this L.C.
Haha yeah you could. The LC is one of a kind and very special but I have a 2018 sr5 4runner with a 2 and a half inch lift and 33 inch tires and man it’s very capable, it’s taken me everywhere I’ve tried to go. It doesn’t have lockers but the ATRAC system is absolutely amazing and serves the same kind of purpose.
@@andyham6094 been saying that about my 2012 sr5 4runner for years,,see everyone lately buying trd models for rear lockers when a sr5 will take you just about anywhere a trd pro can go with decent tires and 2" lift
@@andyham6094 Toyota's SR5s are highly capable, highly reliable and simply the best DEAL in the 4X4 market. Having said that, the locking rear diff should at least be an option across the board. When you think about it, how much would it actually cost Toyota to install a locking diff at the factory on every 4Runner, Tacoma, Sequoia , Tundra etc if they made it standard equipment? My ball park guess is $500 or less.
The SR5 is a fantastic trim with a great value. The LC just takes Toyota's reliability and overbuilt nature to the nth degree. What is missing from the value conversation is resale.... especially when a model is killed. Think FJ prices are crazy? Imagine an LC Heritage in 3-5 yrs. The LC is Toyota's flagship...buy one if you can get it.
@@ATeam4204 To be fair, at this time it is unclear if Toyota is removing the Land Cruiser from the US market on a permanent or temporary basis. The current sales surge may have the accountants recalculating the corporate position. Going forward, a more basic Land Cruiser that does not duplicate the luxury of the Lexus LX might be logical but what does logic have to do with the car industry? Much more modestly equipped LC 200s are currently sold for prices in the range of $50-60,000 in other markets, could we get them too? The other big question is the design and capability of the next Sequoia. Will Toyota duplicate their past practice of offering a distinctly different design for the low-volume Sequoia or will it merge more closely with the next full size Land Cruiser? In the weird and wonderful world of Toyota 4X4s, we have plenty to debate, ponder, anticipate and discover over the next year or two.
Watching that behemoth go totally sideways when you first had to use mts. Just affirmed there is no substitute for lockers. If that had been a narrow trail it would have taken out the whole side of that beautiful rig. Great review, thank you for taking it off road!

Yes, I lust after a LandCruiser, but super happy that my 2018 TRD Off-Road Premium 4Runner can realistically do 95% of what the King can do with basically the same off-road systems. Slap some KO2s on, a 3” lift, proper armor and rock sliders, and you’re golden! After all, they’re made in the same 🇯🇵 factory. ❤️Toyota❤️
The prices in the USA on land cruisers are insane! I got mine last year, it's called the "executive lounge" version. Comes with the same adjustable ride height suspension as Lexus lx 570. As you can imagine the ride is very smooth even on very rough roads and there is significantly less roll compared to the standard suspension. The engine is 4.6 though instead of 5.7, which makes it a tiny bit less thirsty, but the power is still there. All that for 69000 USD brand new. The only thing I dislike about it is that these versions only come with a little bit different bumpers, and as you can imagine it drastically reduces the angle you can safely climb. I switched from my G55 AMG, never regretted it... Best car for countries where roads are not that good.
@@drivingsports I mean it’s hard for me to understand where are they coming from, Lexus 570 costs roughly the same price? I would argue that it’s a better choice for the value, although I’m not a fan of how it looks.
"Last of the Mohicans" Sad that the new gen LC will come with a twin turbo 6
Thats for the better actually
@@dexterrr9163 Probably better fuel economy but for long term use there's nothing better than an understressed m/a V8 Talking from personal experience
Watching that behemoth go totally sideways when you first had to use mts. Just affirmed there is no substitute for lockers. If that had been a narrow trail it would have taken out the whole side of that beautiful rig. Great review, thank you for taking it off road!
what a coincidence I was just watching your 2020 TLC L200 review like 5 minutes ago
Perfect!
Toyota’s for life!
I just love how evrything is quality
I’m from Dubai and here we do miracles with the LC in the desert. Look it up in UA-cam. The best vehicle ever built for off-roading.
LOVE these snow driving videos
Toyota Land Cruiser remains a dream.
i’ve watched this video at least 20 times
Great vehicle, great review. Truly the king of the off road!
By far the coolest suv out there
Great review, really like your vids Sir!👍 cheers from norwegian subs, and Landcruiser owner
I love Norway! Had great times in Tønsberg a few years ago.
@@drivingsports thats nice to hear. Tønsberg is the oldest town in Norway. I live around 90 minutes drive north of Tønsberg. Live on my farm outside a town called Hønefoss. Cheers and keep up your great work!👍
Hello from northern norway! I have an -08 LC200 4.5td 310hp/750nm. daily driving, never had any issues, its a tank👊🏻😬
that bread crumb back tracking is awesome to have
Did the Toyota jacket come with the test vehicle?
Nicely done. That is a one true off roading capable suv.
Very well made video i learned more in 2 minutes than I did in 15 with others
Please take the 4Runner on the same trail.
Where can I get that Toyota jacket?
Great video! These LC's are amazing.
Simple, it’s the best 4x4 ever and very competitive suv in the world
This is the strongest SUV ever made on this planet.
My 1998 FJ100 will hit 300K this year. Original engine and transmission. A beast
How much for the Toyota jacket
Everyone loves the puffy jacket.
@@drivingsports It nice
Love your channel thanks for the content!
One recommendation: I love the outside shots and I imagine that a tripod and a camera are painful. Use a Skydio drone, it's the best when it comes to follow objects and avoid collisions (this is not an add haha)
Cheers!
The all new LC 300 series 2022 is already sold in Saudi Arabia and the Arabian Gulf country two gas engines one is twin turbo and one twin turbo diesel engine and a hybrid coming soon
Can’t wait to my Toyota Land Cruiser off roading
Great video. Very well done..Was this shot in Issaquah/Tiger Mountain? I go hiking up there but I have never been their in the winter..
Past that. Closer to Snoqualmie.
@@drivingsports Aah ok. Thanks..
Another fantastic video keep up the great work !!!! 🏁🏁👍
What price reliability? For many of us, it is indeed priceless.
Man i really wish I can afford one, these will be collector cars..
Toyota Land Cruiser! The Big Daddy of SUV's. This thing is so reliable and powerful. 🖤
I have a 4Runner, and really want to upgrade to a 2021 Landcruiser. I will resist as long as possible. Though the 2022 LC will make it easier to resist, as it doesn't look good at all.
If I was a millionaire, I would definitely buy this SUV.
I agree, the thing I like about it the most is that it doesn't look fancy. You can drive this thing around, and other than Toyota nerds nobody knows you're driving a vehicle that cost almost 100k.
Hail the King! 👑. Tested and proven in the most challenging, unforgiving, and demanding terrains and climates on the planet!
❤️Toyota❤️
My dream car. One day I will have it!
Land cruiser over the escalade, can't wait to see the Lexus LX570 climbing that hill
I saw a 2020 4Runner TRD Pro with 10k miles on it at a dealership in Army Green for $65,000. So... yeah...
@@drivingsports I mean it’s hard for me to understand where are they coming from, Lexus 570 costs roughly the same price? I would argue that it’s a better choice for the value, although I’m not a fan of how it looks.
Oh well, maybe the fact that they are going to cancel land cruisers in the US is not a horrible thing after all, since new models will lose v8, and I’m very sceptical on new twin-Turbocharged V6 reliability compared to the old ones.
That looked so fun! Such a capable vehicle!!
The best. Toyota Land cruiser 👍
