  • Bands like Metallica, Dream Theater, Megadeth and Black Sabbath inspired me to pick up the guitar at age 14. There was just one problem... when I plugged in and cranked the gain to 11, I sounded HORRIBLE!

I couldn't figure out how to get the sounds in my head to flow through my fingers. I tried guitar lessons, joined a band and even played at church but nothing seemed to work. I didn't see the kind results I was after until going to music school in 2001. That's when I finally started to piece things together. How to play in a key, soloing, composition, ear training and more. My Music Theory Program Package is a culmination of everything I learned at school. It's designed to realize your creative potential FAST. This course is specifically designed for players who feel uninspired, or feel like their motivation has diminished over the years. If you don't really like guitar and hate the thought of practicing, this course is NOT for you. I promise to show you the fastest path to master music theory but it will take work. This course contains over 200 pages of transcriptions, tabs and over 20 hrs of video. Topics include, music theory, ear training, neoclassical metal, how to write a guitar riff, how to solo, how to play guitar for beginners, scale + chord bible, ultimate guitar workouts, how to practice, guitar modes, counterpoint, how to increase your speed, classical guitar, negative harmony, 12 tone rows and much more!
    🎸Music Theory For Guitarists
If you have some background in guitar and aren't a complete beginner, Music Theory For Guitarists will teach you everything I learned at music school. Nothing like this exists on the internet. Over 4 hours of interactive video content, 26 pages of transcriptions, TABS, Standard Notation, guitar pro files, pdf’s and play along practice tracks totaling 30 minutes. There's a crazy amount of value in this course. You’ll master pitch, the guitar fretboard, the musical alphabet, how to read music, tabs, intervals, scales, modes, triads, 7th chords, chord inversions, keys, the circle of 5ths, interactive ear training quizzes, note identification, fretboard note location, time signatures, rhythm, 12 bar blues, jazz, rock and counterpoint. I’ll demonstrate each concept using selections from 50 popular songs. Artists include, Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, U2, Dream Theater, Rush, Stevie Wonder, Deep Purple, Tom Petty, Beethoven, John Williams and much more
🔥 Secret To Get Huge Results
Just purchasing this course won't get you results. It's crucial to have the right mindset to progress as fast as possible. Use my BBC strategy to equip yourself with a growth mindset. First, BELIEVE you can do it. Next, BREAKDOWN the challenge into small steps and finally CELEBRATE your wins with a reward to encourage good habits. Henry Ford said, "Whether you think you can or you can't, you're right."
⭐️ How To Take This Course
No one gets better at guitar by sitting on the couch watching TV. The fastest way to achieve your goals is to be consistent with your routine. Aim to practice first thing in the morning for 20 minutes. Choose a quiet place free of distractions. Make sure each practice session includes the 4 core fundamentals of musicianship, Technique, Improvising, Theory and Songs. Allow time for the program to start showing results in your playing and remember to HAVE FUN muhahaha!

I wasn’t allowed to listen to secular music until I went to a friends house one day and heard Def Leppard and Guns N’ Roses, and I was hooked. I went to a Christian private school until eighth grade and that was around the time I picked up the guitar and started shredding.

@ShredmasterScott, my childhood and early guitar years were very similar to yours. In my youth, I had many teachers. I was forced to read music, and memorize chords and scales the Mel Bay way. But, I just didnt understand the connection between chords, scales, and modes. I decided I needed a really good instructor to help me prepare for the entrance exam to the Musician's Institute (MI) and was fortunate to receive private instruction from Paul Gilbert. He and I became friends (along with Bruce and all of Racer X) I learned alot from Paul. His way of explaining music theory opened the flood gates for me. My band used to open for Racer X quite a bit. Your videos have that same enthusiasm and love for music. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

I remember when i was around 12 my mom found a cassette tape of Slayer. She got after us for listening to it and said "I don't want the devil in this house!" and threw it in the trash. She took us out to go buy another cassette tape from another band and we chose Def Leppard's Pyromania. She didn't let us buy it because the cover looked like it was demonic? So we asked for the Whitesnake album and she was okay with it. 😂 This was in the era of Satanic Panic.

I went for BFA in music as well. I got really good at playing other peoples music from the sheet music, I got really good at taking music theory tests. The thing I did not get good at was understanding what the hell I was even playing from a theory perspective. I tried to minor in Jazz and all the Jazz teachers were not used to teaching jazz to people who knew barely anything about Jazz. It was all just memorization and regurgitating it back to them for the jazz lessons. It wasnt until I started applying theory I already knew and connecting it to the guitar that I started to be where I should have been from the start.

I also bought a 10 hole harmonica and 24 hole tremolo the other day never played it before did some research and my roommate said it sounded like Bob Dylan was playing I just play a play list of my liked songs in C on Spotify or some C acoustic playlists it's just sooooooo hard to actually know how good you actually are when you really are self taught for the most part aside from my died but he passed when I was 18 so I didn't really care much about music until I got my life together in my 20s and I'm now 30 and dying to take it to the next level and meet people I joined bandmix but nobody else responds much.

Shred, I know you've said that Dave Mustaine understands music theory, but in my honest opinion, I don't think he does. At least, I don't think he knows music theory on a conscious level. From the age of 13 to the age of 18, I knew what Aeolian, Phrygian Dominant, Harmonic Minor etc, looked like on the fretboard, and I knew if I played those fretboard patterns I could get certain sounds. But I couldn't have told you what they were or what their purpose was. The only reason I knew those scales was just from playing along to tablature. I couldn't have told you back then what a flat 2 is, or a Dominant 7/flat 9 is. I learned music theory WAY later on. I think with Dave, it was sort of the same thing but I don't think he learned theory later on though.

    • @ShredmasterScott
      @ShredmasterScott  6 місяців тому +1

You’re correct, Dave has no formal training in theory. However, writing hundreds of songs teaches you how music works. He just has a different way of thinking about keys, scales and chords etc

What if you emotion less... ?? do ya still need music theory or, just rock out :)

If you struggle to express your emotions, you need theory even more!

Why is it that majority of people who became innovators did know how to read music? Maybe you couldn’t be a rock star bc you got caged in music theory and that made you limited to adhere to music theory. Perhaps if you just played by ear; you might have developed your own thing and come up with something that’s never been done before and become a star. Many people like McCarney, Eddie Van Halen etc believe their lack of knowledge about music theory was the catapult that made it possible for them to create innovative music.

Not being afraid to break the rules is a key aspect to innovation. All the great classical composers knew how to read and studied theory though. Bach Beethoven and Mozart. A lot of guitar players know theory, they just can't read music because electric guitar is a very recent invention and doesn't have much pedagogy developed yet. There are many educated guitar players who became successful though. Randy Rhoads, Kiko Loureiro, Yngwie Malmsteen etc
