I love the interaction between father and daughter.
She helps when she can!
So sorry for the greenhouses.
Mother nature always has surprises for us. It’s nice that you have such beautiful helpers by your side ❤
You handled the "blown away green house episode" quite well. I am impressed with your healthy attitude. I enjoy your vlog so much. Thanks for sharing.😀
Sad about the tulips, I know Ilia can fix the greenhouses, the pond is awesome, most of all tho, seeing daddy and daughter working together 🥰🥰❤️ being one of 4 daughters, I got to be one of 2 of us that were Dad's helpers 🥰🥰 I miss him but he does live on in me ❤️❤️
Oh, I'm so sorry your hard work on the greenhouses was destroyed. I'm always amazed by your determination both of you. You've come so far. I love watching all the changes happening. I'm so excited to see it when completed. Love you're, garden too.
Thank you so much for your kind words! Working on the garden in spring brings so much joy and peace.
As it is with rebuilding your house better than the original, your 2nd gen greenhouses will be improved over gen 1. Thanks for including video of the lovely colors around your property. 👍👍👍
God Love You. I have never seen anyone more positive than the two of you. What a pleasure to watch. Love your attitude, Ilia.
Don't be discouraged Ilya! The gusts of wind here in Belgium are sometimes fierce. Nice work that you continue to deliver.
You can always rely on mother nature to find every little error or omission in our projects, saves us the hard work of looking for them ourselves - one of the many reasons I love her 😁
Wow
Apparently mother nature didn't like your greenhouses.
Glad they weren't damaged more.
I'm glad you kept a smile on your face and went back to repairing them.
Wishing you the best of success going forward.
Sorry about your green houses. The tulips were beautiful. It was great to see that you were not disheartened Ilya.😊❤
Adversity brings out the best in you both. It is still a great idea to have Greenhouses. Build back better. Enjoy the tomatoes when they are ready. Many good years ahead for you two!
You're a hardworking, funny guy! Thanks for the video!
Liked your greenhouse build. Sad the storm came and damaged them. At least you can fix them more stable. Who knew it was going to be that bad? The tulips are beautiful. Now you can take them inside and enjoy them.
Illia and Mariana they looked so good only to have so much work put into them and blown away were they all salvaged I hope Illia must have been disappointed I would be thank you for sharing.
"It's a little more work than I expected" =)
LOL Indeed. Illia is estimating like any engineer - very optimistic. And I still trust his estimates 😀
Sorry about your damaged green houses. Hopefully this won't happen again.
Love the flowers Marina picked up in the grass. They look splendid in the vase!
ACH! NO FAIL ILYA! IT'S THE STORY OF LIFE, WE LIVE AND LEARN AND MOVE ON BETTER PREPARED!
Another father daughter bonding project. Love it🥰
Wow that looks like a Texas wind storm. Comes out of no where without warning. So sorry Illia.
Better luck next time. Broke all the striped big tulip flowers. Bouquet for the kitchen now.
See you next week.
Beautiful tulips! I live in east coast Canada; we have trouble with hurricanes in the fall. Wind can cause a lot of damage; it looks like it didn’t destroy your greenhouses (although they will need a bit of repair work.) Glad to see you aren’t giving up!
Luckily we are blessed with no hurricanes here. The storm here is nothing compared to what you guys have. The nature is the greatest power indeed.
Thanks for cheering us up. Yes, indeed. They could be repaired easily.
OMG the beautiful delicate tulips survived 😊
I like your relaxed approach to the ’disaster’. It will be fine in the end
Lessons harsh lessons but you'll be recreating a more stable greenhouse. Love is never that simple it tests you all the time. 🍃🌷🌸🌷💮🌷🌸🌷💮🍃 from what I witnessed the gardens are lovely.🌺🌼
The intermission dancing 💃 was awesome! 😂
Sorry about the fail. I was in Belgium last week. Loved Bruges and Ghent . ❤
What a pity with the storm and the greenhouses! So sorry!
But still, your garden looks amazing!
All the tulips and flowers, even the cat tree has already its first harvest...😉
Enjoy your moments on your deck, I am silently hoping for your next beer tasting...
Thanks so much! We were planning and already bought trappist beer from The Netherlands, but the weather corrected our plans (we had no time unfortunately). We keep the bottles in the fridge though 😀
I know it's frustrating that you have to do all that work all over again but, at least you don't have to re dig trenches like you've had to do in the past. All will be well. And oh look! God picked a beautiful bouquet for you in the end!
Very true! I would never dare to pick these beauties myself, but here we go - now enjoying them in the vases in every room 😀
nothing makes a great video quite as much as a random dance interlude 😆👍
The green houses are a very good idea so sorry that you had to repair them from the wind blowing them over but I know that you will fix them and it will be even better. God Bless 😊❤
I’m so happy for you! Your place is so lovely. I’m sorry it’s going to take you longer to do your job. Big hugs to all your family members.❤❤🎉🎉
Your poor plants! I feel so bad for you, truly. It has been cold here and we do have corn seed and green bean seed in the ground, but barely. Our fingers are crossed. You will have your greenhouses repaired and up in no time, I'm sure. Good luck!! I know our weather has been very unpredictable this year.
Spring is here! The flowers are lovely!
Each project is fascinating. Hard lesson on securing the base of your greenhouses but it’s great how you turn it to a positive outlook, you didn’t plant your tomatoes . I enjoy watching your projects so keep up the good work and enjoy! Could you use screen in place of the plastic in some areas?
What gorgeous taste you have in plants, all kinds of your plants. There is nothing as destructive as a hail storm. I remember how a hail storm would destroy acres and acres of corn in the middle of the summer in Minnesota. A farmer would toil many hours preparing the soil, planting the seeds, watching the seedlings mature into beautiful tall stands of corn stalks loaded with ears of corn full of kernels, ONLY to see a violent hailstorm come through and decimate all of that hard work. But, the farmers had your same philosophical "can do" attitude, and would not give up.
Maybe next season, if the plastic has worn out, you could use poly carbonate greenhouse panels (e.g., Amazon has 12 panels of 2 ft x 8 ft x 0.16 thick for around 215 US Dollars). It would be much more expensive than plastic wrap, but, they should not need replacing as often. Anyways, great job! I love your channel!!!
Weather can be a bitch, luckily I had everything secured before this same rainstorm reached my place. I'm happy that not too much damage is done to the greenhouses and that the tomatoes were not in yet. So a timber or length of metal profile at each corner about 60-80cm into the ground will do.
Oh man what a mess. Sorry for you and your hard work. I only suggest having extra plastic at the bottom that you can roll up during high heat so air can blow threw or if high winds blow threw it will not pick it up as a whole and blow it over. Maybe anchor each leg to ground with spikes and rope. They are so nicely made. One good thing is you got a beautiful arrangement of tulips for the table. Sorry no beer to cry into.
hi from New Zealand.
Big oops. good recovery
What a pain in the tush, you worked so hard and they looked really good. At least your lovely tomatoes are still safe. Your whole garden area is lovely, as is the temporary? Koi pond.
Great and smart construction. Job well done
Glad you liked it! And fingers crossed it will be a nice home for the tomatoes.
Terrible result but I'm amazed at how well you soldier on!
It's that "keep going" attitude which your children will inherit and make them successful too.
Courage ! Merci pour les vidéos. A bientôt. 🙂
Your dreams are met!
Let’s do this👍
Disappointing, but blessings the tomatoes weren't inside.....
Must have been a strong, icy storm... beautiful tulips 🌷
Love your ideas, try again.👍
I was thinking that they wouldgo in a storm and wind, they are a bit high too .. oh well x
Beautiful tulips!
Groeten uit Canada. We verlieten Zedelghem nu ruim 100 jaar geleden. Ik geniet van je video's.
Glad its back and up ..😂😂❤❤
Illia, congratulations on your mastery of English. (Now I don't need to use subtitles and my hearing aids to enjoy your UA-cam channel.) Let's do this!
Ik vind het zo erg voor jullie, zo een mooi werk verwoest. Goed dat er ook een positieve kant is. wij zeggen ,geluk! bij een ongeluk!😉
you need to pinch the tomatoes, so the plant grows out fuller. From bottom, go up 3-5 "y-joints", then pinch off top. If you wait too late, not a good idea, but makes a huge difference if you do it early. By this point, you know the greenhouse is too narrow & tall, more like a "lean-to". Grew up around a bunch of farms--if you want to continue using wood for posts & keep them narrow, they need to be sunk into ground several inches & cable them together (one on each corner of bed). I you can find some metal discard places, or a bunch of windows--build something a little larger--like the idea and more power to you for all the creativity. Your final projects always end up amazing.:-) Happy Spring!
Good to see you guys always so positive!! Ilia, you can do it!! Mr.Positive!!
Succes en het ga jullie goed op deze mooie reis!! :)
Mother Nature picked a bouquet for you !
❤from Connecticut, USA
Please remember to plant the tomato plants very, very deep---even if you must bury the long stems in a trench. Only 5-7 inches or 12 to 17 cm of the plant should be above ground. Trust me. You'll thank me later 😁 The other plants (peppers, eggplant) can be planted as they are.
So sorry. Your idea is a great one. Just took a little longer.
Bummer. That's life, though. Just keep on keeping on.
I was affraid that would happen😢
Hang in, guys. Weather can be quite fickle; however, your brains are quite good at turning obstacle/s into opportunities for personal growth.❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😊🐈⬛🐈⬛
Thank you so much for your kind words! The weather is indeed an unpredictable partner to rely on, but we have no alternative 😄
Thank you for making that
Planning session: Mrs De Hoeve explains what she wants, Mr De Hoeve figures out how to do it! Also known as Marriage.
Feel your pain, Illia. But hey, like you said glad you did not plant the tomato plants. Marina, sorry about your tulips, but maybe God wanted you to put those in a vase for you to enjoy inside. I never had heard of anyone growing tomato plants 2 meters tall, but what do I know. I do know when we use to grow tomatoes we would not have them any taller than a meter or less. And we would stake the plant and prune back the leaves and keep the plant short so that most of the energy from the plant would go into the tomato itself, having bigger tomatoes. Yet I have seen where people will place paper on the ground and let the tomato plant fall over and grow that way. Hey it what you feel is the best in your situation. Until next time take care. Bill
Windy, windy,windy everywhere!
AWESOME..!
Too bad about the green houses, how many plants were lost in the "uprising"? Have you thought of securing the frames to the plant beds/boxes, or were these to be temporary until the warmer weather? Good luck rebuilding. Hopefully, there won't be more storms to destroy the "new" ones.
We secured them to the plant beds, they were ripped off with the frames 😀 No plants were there luckily, so no damage for the seedlings.
We plan to keep them in the summer, that's why illia is building all the doors and windows to allow some air circulation in hot days. Let's see how it will work.
It is so sad....but they will raise up again. Probably to rope them down like a tent will secure them and to use flyscreen on the sides instead of tarpaulin will help to pass the windpower. kind regards, rudi 👍
Such a disappointment, but you will raise up and so will the greenhouses. Good luck.
So sorry that it happened
'Its a design feature' he says with a smile 😅 Bet that type of humour is what the British call tounge in cheek, like this 😋 And then, nature.. one has to fight natures all elements and a good start is nailing everything to the ground!
Poor you Illia, we have big wind her in Western Quebec also, what a mess! I might have to make a green house also but I’m afraid I will have to use heavier timber than what you used. Good luck❤️🎶🤗🎶🦋🎶🇨🇦
It was no fail Illya, mother nature in april did it
It will work well when you fix it.
Screw the greenhouses to the ground beds.
Jo;;y wind - I'm like a horse, I get very grumpy on windy days.
Oh my goodness. What a shame your beautiful greenhouses got blown down. 😢 ❤😊
Oh all that work something to consider is fruit hedges. Simple wires and cover with vines, passion fruit and kiwi I grow them in Holland so you should be fine. Don’t buy to much of them just sub dive by cuttings and with in two years have good wind breaks and fruit.
Tent stakes and rope
Wicked wind…😳
Some polycarbonate sheets even just on the roof might be more robust? You’ll figure it out
So sad this happened to you. Perhaps because the structures were so tall and narrow? But certainly the weather has been crazy in recent years. I live in Italy. Yesterday and the day before was warm at 24C and sunny. Perfect spring days. Today it rained, the winds were very strong, the temperature at 4pm when it stopped raining was 6C and there was snow on the mountains. All in just one day.
Life is as much a learning curve as building greenhouses is!
If everything you do ends up well, there is no learning, so mistakes are an asset.👴😉🤷♂
Tall skinny buildings that are light... Gotta take into account the wind! :-)
We have had some fierce winds in Western Europe recently. I have a small ready made greenhouse I have not dared to put out yet and plants that are not able to go out either. Even when the sun has been shining the winds have been powerful, and established pots have got blown all over the place. Your plants seem far in advance of ours her in U.K., maybe you got some warmth too.i like your raised beds and the greenhouses, and plan on trying something similar. Better luck next time, it looks like you had a bit of a tornado with even the tall tulips getting a swift decapitation. I am sure you will have fixed them sturdily by now. Wishing you a good crop of tomatoes.
Awwwwww! Too bad!
oh well, no one got hurt....except possibly your pride. Lesson learnt
that large flat wall with plastic sheeting is as good as a sail, and you got the same results.
they will be better from lessons learnt - going forward
Please make a video showcasing your bonsai
Once we bring some order to this area, we will. Thank you for suggesting an idea 💛
Just helping the algorithm
Good solid construction
Ok easy solve
Thanks for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love and bless you all guys, good work.
They should work well for tomatoes 👍🍻
oh. sad.
ilia... the greenhouses must not be so high, because the big plants dont need a greenhouse anymore.
in fact it will be too hot in summer inside
Nice job 👷🇲🇫
Oh dear! I'm so sad all of Illia's hard work and plans were knocked over. Well the good news is the wood is reusable and still very early in the season!
Would you be eventually replacing some of the plastic to a mesh sheeting to allow for more/better airflow? There's ones that help shade the plants from the hot sun and the screen mesh is nice to allow the pollen to go wherever it wants/needs to but yet still keep bugs and other critters away.
I love the tulips and daffodils! Ours have been coming up nicely in northeast Ohio, USA and my alliums are getting closer to blooming. Marina, with the front of the house, or any other areas, will you be planting other types of plants that bloom at different times during the year? I was thinking plants that are very easy to grow like dahlias, hydrangea, sedums, lilies, peonies, creeping thyme are just a few that aren't labor intensive. I am not sure if some of those plants are pretty enough, or are appropriate for a farm house, or able to be locally grown? I think we all need more flowering plants throughout the year to help give bees and pollinators an easier time as we need them! Your tulips look wonderful, healthy, and quite large!
Tolles Video 👋🙂🤗😁
Maybe cement the posts in?
