Now we all have forgotten our windows Microsoft Administrator User Account Password, so in this video I show you you how to reset it with Hirens Boot CD. You can remove password or reset it to a new password. or just leave it blank.

THE ONLY method I have found that is nice and easy and works 100% on windows 8! Seriously saved my dads laptop!
So it's now 2020 and things have changed a bit. I can confirm though that Hiren's BootCD still does it things and works just fine. Just removed the PWs from two Admin accounts on a Windows 8 machine.
Hey Dude.... Thanks for sharing this video...it was really helpful. I am glad that you share this video which was a lifesaver. I struggled little bit because different Laptop brand has something different to access BIOS and Setting in BIOS.
Just a helper tip for others using Sony VAIO: Your bootable USB flash drive wont get detected unless you do below:
1. Enable External Drive.
2. Change The priority to 1st.
3. Under Boot -> Boot Config -> change the Boot mode to Legecy instead of something UET...

Why after i open on Mini WinXP, there is no HBCD Menu....
The new Hiren has these tools instead:

hi, it sounds like you know what you're doing. If there are multiple profiles on the PC how do you drill down to the SAM file for the correct profile? hoping you might answer here, thanks
Jami Francis well it was the first time i used this method on a windows 8 pc.there was only one profile on it anyway . I think with this method you just pick the sam file in the location where the video shows and it then shows you all the profile names which you can then pick one you want to clear.
in the past i have used another password reset tool ,but it didnt work on win 8, that had like a black dos sort of screen and it listed the profile names, you had to physically type the name to select which one you want to clear.hope that helps a tadge.been a long day this end.heads fried and its hard to think lol

This will not work with windows 8 Microsoft account eg email login, only will work with local account setup.

tried this word for word Hirens 15.2 booted into Win XP mini all of it and absolutely no change and yes I clicked save changes

Hello, I'm trying to figure out how I did this. A longgggg time ago I used Hiren to find the password of a forgotten admin account. I didn't just change the password, I was able to find the hash code and translate it back to the original password with some specific program. I can't find this anywhere. Please help!
I have two questions:
1) At 2:40 you can also see the option unlock,what happens if you click that?
2) When browsing in system32 folder, can you replace sethc with cmd to also get the sticky keys hack done while in this, will it work?

I have some knowledge of computers and have no clue what you were doing. How does this help with a computer i can't get any farther than the login screen. yes I can get into the recovery part of it and tried these with no help. what is a good pay software?
fyi this only works on a local account, not if they sign in with a microsoft account

I have used this procedure and have gained access to the PC however, I now have no Apps working. They just go to the relevant screen , ie photos, mail, store ,whatever , and then go back to the start screen. Do you have any ideas ? Many Thanks

Everytime I boot with the Hiren's BootCD it starts loading Windows XP but then the computers completely shuts down. Ideas on that?
i am working on an hp envy dv6 laptop and changed UEFI boot order to USB diskette on/USB hard disk and also USB CD/DVD as those are the only USB boot options but when laptop restarts it does not boot from either. help?

The easiest way to reset forgotten password is turning pc in safe mode and automatically it logs you to admin account than you could go to control panel and go to users account and change password. To get to safe mode click f8 constantly when you reset your pc.
the safe mode is great idea BUT it will ask you for current pw. if you forgot it that wont work
can u please tell me what do u click on to open that windows when u r rebooting the PC
how can I get to a boot from cd if the password is blocking it ? cant even get to the bios because of password.. how do you get around that >?
At password change the user 'unlock' tab is greyed out on my laptop, on your example it is not is this of any significance?

interesting points ,if anyone else trying to find out forgotten password windows try Lomonting Windows Pass Mentor(Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my buddy got excellent results with it.
If we follow these steps is our data save after recovery?
Does this only work for offline accounts or does it also work on live accounts?
I fix my windows 8 I had to reset everything doe
1.While it ask for the password press the down icon that has a power button
2.press the power button it will say sleep reset and more don't press anything
3.hold ctrl and reset it will say trouble shooting and more
4 press troubleshooting and reset it will load and then it will say reset data reset everything something like that press reset everything
5 you gotta wait a long time to load so just leave it there
6 once load put your account and done
7 I think something like that because I fixed my laptop like that

my hard drive is not in there is it because i have ssd and sata any help would be great checked the ones in there and there's no files.
Okay so i've forgotten my administrator's password so I downloaded the hirens.bootCD.15.2 file and saved it to a memory stick and now what do i do? I've restarted it and its done nothing and i can't open the file because i dont know my password to my account! HELP!!

Hi - having trouble getting rufus to recognise the .iso file. says thta it only supports ISOs based on bootmgr/WinPE, isolinux or EFI?

worked on a clean harddrive with nothing on it but after I but the win 8 drive back in ..cant boot from cd password blocked ..I though this was supposed to over ride that
the pc keep repairing what I changed after I do all this its very frustrating to get it all done and then when I finish the pc goes into repair mode and undoes everything I reset to protect the user. I there a way to stop it form doing this?

Why every video asks to use the boot menu or bios? I can't even open the bios cause this computer has fast boot...

If you're using Windows 8 and it is a Microsoft password, you can ask Microsoft to reset the password using your email address.
I can not find my pc's original C: drive to locate the sam file after launching the HBCD menu. Its windows 8 and I forgot logon password :(

There was no ISO in the Hirens download. I extracted it there was no ISO to be found. I looked inside every folder that was part of the .zip. I'll try downloading again.

Simply does not work, followed instruction and still asks for password on reboot.
I really need help because I followed all of your instructions and it seemed like it worked but when I booted it up again. It didn't change the password. My admin account is connected to the Microsoft account online. I have changed it online but I couldn't update my password in my computer because for some reason, I couldn't connect online so I gave Hirens bootcd a try but it didn't change my password.
When I tried to change my password, I didn't put anything to the new password and left it blank but it didn't work when I booted it up again. So I gave it another shot. I did everything again but this time I put a password but it said it couldn't change the password and I should just leave it blank. I'm really on my wit's end since I have a lot of things to do.
Does not work if laptop does NOT try to boot from CD/USB first.
