This is actually a big problem when you cannot open your computer.

Try to do the following:
Sign in to your Microsoft account from any other PC or phone:

When logging in, click "Forgot Password" or "Login Options" and then follow the prompts.
After successfully changing the password, turn on the locked PC and enter a new password.

Awesome tutorial, and professionally done. The only issue I see, and its more of a nitpick, here is with the final solution you never shore up the security vulnerability created by renaming cmd to utilman. You should should really show how to access sytem32 from windows user and change it back to the proper application or mention they need to preform the steps from the boot media in reverse order to shore up the security issue.

Windows 10 is a rock solid OS, it's not rubbish, you don't understand it. The problem is we never save our passwords safely somewhere, or in an encrypted cloud drive, accessible by phone. W7 pales in comparison to W10. Windows 12 coming up next, oh man~~~going to be fun.

I just finished successfully! I'm ecstatic! Of the 4 methods I used F12 and began boot procedure from a Windows 10 via CD/DVD drive. Then elected Repair and followed all the very clear and precise instructions! Fantastic outcome! My local tech guru didn't even know about this. I completed by created a new password on this essential PC and now back to full functionality! Extreme happiness and very THANKFUL!!!

The problem here is that if in one of the commands you write at least one letter incorrectly, then the command will not work.
I think this is the main reason for dislikes.

Thanks for the help. I had Administrator and Guest as users. I tried net user Administrator *. But it didn't work. Then I used what was being displayed as my account name on the windows screen and it worked.
After 1hour of try to crack my password, I just remembered which is my birthday date 😂🤦

For me it method one didn’t work when I pressed enter when prompted to enter a password on the command prompt. So I entered another password into it and tried that when it logged in and it worked straight away. Thank you 👍

Due to the latest updates from Microsoft, it became possible that in Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 the command prompt can only be opened using a bootable Windows USB flash drive.
If you do not have such a flash drive, you can ask your relative or friend for it, or you can make such a flash drive yourself on another PC:
