I had a 1998 in the same Baroque Red Metallic! Super rare. Also, I was told boosting these are more difficult due to the vvti. Some lock it up, etc. So glad to see it can be done!

fauckitgarage it was just an ebay gt35 turbo, the manifolds were flipped to the front. Stock injectors, stock maf, and just fuel adjusted with safc on 7lbs of boost

The SAFC doesnt work on Toyotas unless they're manual. They retune themselves back to stock after.
This video is proof the engine runs fine turboed with the stock computer.

Ranger x Turbo honestly it really does get good gas mileage. On highway i average about 22-24mpg and thats for a 4.0 v8
Ive heard by other sc300/400 forum members that the stock ecu fights the safc the whole time its used. Please let me know whats up

B Dog they basically cut the exhaust at cat location and welded another pipe routed back to the front to the turbo.

jehanmonelle we left it at only 5lbs since it was stock ecu.. it would hit fuel cut after 6-7lbs
does anyone know how he tied the exhaust manifolds into the turbo
He just flipped the oem manifolds n then fabed up random pipes to a t4 flange
I was told the rods on the later models werent good to hold boost. My 96 has those skinny rods like yours, how many psi are you running and is it still holding up. Im looking into boosting mine now.

Hey Luis, I just realized I fat thumbed ecu and put efi. I meant is he still running a stock ecu?did you notice a signficant power gain from turbo charged as compared to a stock 1uz or is there still quite a bit more tuning needed?
AzLEXUS REP yea bro stock ecu, but on stock ecu usually after 5-6pbs of boost it will hit fuel cut. And yea 5lbs of boost is a significant difference it being a 4.0 v8
@@-LFATV great video nice to see the turbo uz vvt-i. I've had a 92 SC400 a 95 SC400 and currently have a 98 SC400 and the vvti is noticeably quicker than the earlier models plus the 5-speed automatic probably helps . After having the vvt-i 5-speed automatic car it's hard to go back to the earlier ones LOL

I have a vvti swap in to a is300 and was going to do a cheep turbo set up on it
no dude i believe he is still running it the way it is. but its held up just on 7lbs
